Summary: Highly Recommended
Review: I'm a 40-something that returned to exercise last year. Amid the hype and bluster of the fitness industry, I'm glad to have found a book that proves that building a strong body does not require expensive pills, potions or machinery. The authors show you how to get killer workouts with a pair of dumbbells and a bench. It's very Zen: simple exercises that focus on form and execution, not machismo, and the results from the workouts are noticeable. The advice on diet and nutrition is realistic in our modern world, the workouts are well explained and the authors are not preachy. Well worth the money.

Summary: Outstanding Book
Review: I wanted to start a weight training program to finally get the body I wanted. I tend to try and research what I need to do before starting anything and this book was amazing. The mind to body connection helps with focusing on what muscles need to be exercised and keeping proper form in the movements. The nutrition information is excellent for the beginner with all the supplements out there it gives a wonderful easy to understand guide to what you should take to help get the body your looking for. The programs are easy to follow and detailed. The thing I like most about the book though is it does not offer a quick fix what it does is give you the foundation to start building a strong muscular body. So if you looking to start a new work out routine and to pack on muscle and take off the fat, I would highly recommend this book.

Summary: The best workout plan ever!
Review: I bought this book because of the fantastic reviews it had received at Amazon.com. Actually I wasn't expecting to much of it initially because I had tried dozens of other programs before and none of them had really worked for me.
Well, I was in for a big surprise!
Not only did I see visible and measurable results (lost fat, gained muscle and shape)within a few short weeks but the program was very easy and actually fun to follow!
I am sure there are other programs out there that deliver results if followed to the letter. But what is the use of a program that you cannot follow for more than a few weeks because it has you train so hard all the time you finally get down with a cold or an injury.
This program is totally different. The authors apply the periodization approach: Intensity of weight training and also cardiovascular training, even the calories of your nutrition program are cycled every two weeks. They also have you switch around the exercises for certain bodyparts from time to time.
This prevents you from overtraining, keeps your muscles from adapting to the workout and best of all keeps you from getting bored.
This may sound a bit complicated now but don't worry, the authors have laid everything out in detail so that following the program is ridiciously easy.
Another good thing about this book is that it tells you how to perform the exercises to really feel the target muscles being worked. Most exercise books just tell you to move the weight up and then down again. Hugo and James give you pointers on technique for each exercise that will really make you feel the muscle and therefore result in better development. They also tell you how to further strengthen the mind-muscle connection by applying the "zone-tone" technique.
Most other programs claim that you need a gym membership or fancy equipment to develop a great body. This program proves them all wrong! Everything you need for the most basic workout plan in the book is a pair of adjustable dumbells.
There is so much more in this book worth mentioning like how to achieve a positive mindset that will help you achieve your goals, a chapter on supplements, information on diet with easy to follow menue plans etc.
The bottom point is, if you really want to change the way you look then this is the book for you. If you follow this program as outlined you will get results. There's no way around it.

Summary: the good, the bad and the ugly...
Review: Good: Good section on how to do each exercise and their pros and cons.
Bad: the above section is 2/3 of the book. the other 1/3 is everything else like diet, vitamins, workout suggestions.
The Ugly:the writers must be...suggesting to do weight lifting 6 days a week even for advanced workout. you'll tare your muscules apart. nobody ever suggests that. also other workout routines assume you work from home with dumbbells and don't have good equipment. Also, vitamin/supplement section is outdated and lame.

Summary: Follow It - Get results
Review: A few short months ago, I was a bit overweight, not feeling that great, and had both the need and desire to do something about it. I looked into quite a few books, but, thought that this one looked well balanced and honest. Within just around 2 months, following the simple programs in the book, and including the nutrition and aerobic aspects ( walking mainly ), I've not only lost at least 20 lbs, but, I've also built up my major muscle groups. I have a couple of other books, but, I keep coming back to this one as the main reference. To see these results myself, plus the reactions of those around me, at over 40 no less, is great! Enough said. If you follow the program, for months (not 2 weeks), you will see results.

Summary: No fluff--plenty of good information.
Review: Very impressive material. Covers the philosophy behind the text, nutrition, exercises (with detailed explanations) and workout routines, along with plenty more. One of the great things about the workouts is that you don't have to have expensive gym equipment to perform them; a person can use many of the exercises in this book to get a full body workout with a pair of barbells and an incline bench. I also liked the fact that the authors didn't try to push a specific supplement on you (unlike other popular books on this subject). Overall, this book has plenty of information and not too much motivational fluff (which always drives me nuts!).

Summary: Best Fitness Guide in a Long Time
Review: Patients ask me all the time, "How do I lose weight?" Certainly there is no easy answer to this. I have read many of the recent books on fitness and bodybuilding. Many sources out are are a rehash of the same rhetoric. How can anyone truly make sense out of all of the garbage? Many books talk about how you can transform your physique in 12 weeks but this is an unrealistic goal for the general population.

This is one of the more comprehensive books outlying an unbiased (for the most part) approach to nutrition, motivation, strength training, supplements, myths, and fad diets. This is a very practical book that makes no pretenses on its theories/opinions. In my opinion, if you follow the advice (assuming you have no underlying medical disorder) to the letter, you WILL be TRANSFORMED. The execution of exercises are described very well and you feel like the authors are there with you every step of the way. Fitness is a matter of lifestyle and changes in that lifestyle. There are no magic pills, potions or shortcuts.

Summary: Outstanding book that covers a lot of topics.
Review: This book has been very helpful to me in numerous ways. After just working out on my own, I found myself hitting a plateau. This book contains detailed information on how to avoid that - from a weight lifting and nutrition stand point.

In addition, the pictures and descriptions of technique are excellent. I feel that my workouts are much more efficient and effective. After 14 days (don't let the 14 day workout fool you, it's just the beginning), I've lost 15 pounds and toned up considerably. They do say, however, that this is more than the typical amount.

There are some things I didn't like: I thought that some of the chapters dealing with mentality got a little hokey, though I could see where they'd help some people. Also, much of the writing style seems a bit sensationalistic - things like, "You will burn fat faster then ever with these new proven techniques!!!". Plus, they throw quite a few scientific statistics at you (eg "You burn 300% more fat on an empty stomach"), but don't site too many resources. It's not that I don't trust them, but I'd like to see them.

To the reviewer who said it concentrated on overweight people, I only half agree. I think they do focus on it, but they also say that if you don't want to lose weight, or you're losing it too fast, eat more.

All in all, I'd normally give this around 4.5 stars, except that this is the best book out there I've found to date.

Summary: A Great Book for Men of All Ages
Review: I have been working out on and off for many years. I recently worked with a trainer to make sure that I didn't hurt myself when I got back into training. When I went off on my own I decided to do some research on training and the Body Sculpting Bible gave me the answers I needed plus it provided a good training routine that added such variety that the body never gets used to anything and hence doesn't plateau. These are real looking people not Arnold S's. If you want to get in good shape and feel good about yourself this is the book for you.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Should be called "The Body Sculpting Bible for OVERWEIGHT"
Review: I am a novice to bodybuilding and I wanted to find an all-in-one solution for my workouts, with nutrition information, scheduling, excersises, etc. I must admit that this book answered practically all my questions, and the price is decent, too. The only disappointment for me was that it focuses on overweight people. A good deal of the nutrition section, as well as descriptions of several excercises, are weight-paranoid, and extra weight is NOT (thank God) a problem for me at all, I'm a skinny guy. It would be perfectly fine if I knew about this bias before I opened the book, I would probably buy it any way, but the authors fail to give even a slightest hint that a lot of their info benefits men with several extra pounds.
