Rating: Summary: Best I've read yet!! Review: The BSB for men has been an easy read for me. I bought it on a Thursday and finished it off on Friday night, couldn't put it down. I found a lot of answers from things such as workout routines, to info on creatine and other supplements, to sample diets. I thought it was a very well thought out book and has EVERYTHING that a beginner or an experienced gym goer would need. There are many conflicting opinions out there, it's nice to get a straightfoward view on some of these issues. The author's credentials speak for themselves, they are educated and experienced. I have even sent email to them, expecting no reply. But they took the time to answer some of the questions I had. I was very appreciative! Great book from great authors! Thanks guys!
Rating: Summary: Good common sense Review: There are three things I especially like about this book: it gives you straight talk, not fads, quick fixes, sales pitches, or bunk; it is very comprehensive, covering every aspect of building a fitter body; its authors give you a rounded view of every issue, especially the dietary ones, so you can make your own, independent judgment. The rank beginner looking for short cuts and the fanatical body-builder seeking the latest gimick probably won't like it (see the other reviews) because it has too much detail and too much common sense. I have been working out for more than thirty years and, after a month on this program following six soft months, lost 20 lbs. and am in the best shape I have been for at least five years. Followed faithfully, consistenly, and in the fine detail the book provides, this is an excellent program.
Rating: Summary: Best book for body sculpting....period!!! Review: This book is great for anybody who is realitively new to bodybuilding like myself or for a longtime bodybuilder. It has multiple pictures of almost any exercise you can think of and the nutritional advice is wonderful. Also, you can contact the author(Hugo Rivera) and he will try to help answer your questions.I would highly reccomend this book to anyone who is thinking about bodybuilding.
Rating: Summary: A Caring Approach to Bodybuilding Review: The more I study the "Body Sculpting Bible for Men" and use the techniques presented in it, the deeper my respect for these two men grows. The authors, Hugo Rivera and James Villepigue, have made tremendous contributions in an area of fitness that is fraught with conflicting opinion and myth. I talk with the authors by email and find them to be extremely helpful and caring in their responses. If you are looking for a book with a straight-forward approach to bodybuilding which is both safe and effective, then I highly recommend this book to you.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: I picked up the Body Sculpting bible about 7 months ago, and have been following the Advanced workout religiously ever since. I was 18% bodyfat when I started and am now down to 10% with a 10lb increase in muscle. This book is really an incredible resource if you're looking to get into amazing shape. It is hard work but the results are guaranteed if you follow the plan.
Rating: Summary: Wouldn't recommend it Review: This is a beginners workout book that anyone serious about shaping their body would outgrow within weeks of training. The body sculpting programs were briefly explained in under five pages, too little when its really the regimens that should highlight the book. Good descriptions of exercises and how they are performed. Too much erroneous info about working out in general that does not tie in with the brief explanations of the different body sculpting regimens that are almost noted down as if they were an afterthought in the rear of the book. That said I think there alternatives that will offer greater longterm use and enjoyment as well as more in depth training advice.
Rating: Summary: some good, some bad Review: The good: The descriptions and pictures of the exercises are pretty good. The "beginner" and "intermediate" workout routines are pretty decent (although, like other reviewers, I am a bit skeptical about the 6 day workout schedule and its potential for burnout). The bad: As other reviewers have noted there is a definite focus on overweight individuals. This isn't bad per se but I wish it been made clearer. The section on supplements is terrible. It is wrong in places (they recommend using chromium picolinate), confusing (they say studies have shown taking 1000mg of vitamin C before a workout reduces soreness then they say to take 1000mg 3 times a day...why so much?), and unscientific. There are no cites, no summaries of studies, just stories about how such and such a supplement worked for them. When it comes to supplements and diet I want something more scientific than anecdotes. Finally, there is only ONE routine given. Considering how much fluff there is in the book, and how short it is, it would have been nice if they had included several routines. Not everyone has the same workout goals. Seeing as how they are personal trainers they should know this very well. Providing several routines for people with different goals would have made this book a lot more useful.
Rating: Summary: Best Comprehensive Manual Available Review: After a two year search for a comprehensive manual that covered nutrition, excercises and even mindset I finally found it in this book. For three years I've been trying to find a "program" that worked by picking and choosing from magazine articles, talking to trainers and internet searches. This book has it all. Furthermore, the detailed discussion the book provides about the HOWs and the WHYs (e.g., how are bodies work, why we need supplements) has given me the understanding I need to put it all together. And lastly, I think the number one benefit I have gained from this book is renewed motivation, probably more than I have ever had. It is a great comprehensive manual and I haven't seen anything else available that matches it.
Rating: Summary: Great book , provided me whith what i look for Review: The most thing that i liked about this book , besides being well written & well readble by those whos mother tunge not english, is it presents 2 routines of wourkout exercises : The first one is by using just a pair of dumbells , which is more suitble for a home workout whithout complex machines involved ,so a person has not to participate in any gym . The 2nd routine's exercises are based on machines you find it in the gym , very equipmented gym . The book covers all the body parts , whith lot types of workout for each part. Not forgetting the nutrition section , which has very usefull information a person can get . Finally , i would like to thank the aouthers , for thier writting's style ,which has never made me bored . Afterall , a person should know to make the book intersting for the readers as he knows to make his body exercises well performed .
