Summary: Some one get me some oxygen...
Review: My wife had this book sitting on the night stand for about two weeks before I decided to pick it up myself. She'd mentioned often how highly she thought of it and its authors and being the sensitive husband that I at least on occasion try to be, wanted to take an interest in it also. After thumbing through it for about an hour, smoking a cigar and belting back straight shots of bourbon, I was brought to my knees with shame. Shame for being North American, shame for being middle class, shame for being in any way culturally, socially, economically, or genetically associated with the breed of feeble minds which could have devised such aenemic, mommy-coddling ruminations. When I think of the intellectual integrity of the great scholars and saints the west has produced, who have addressed the same issues as though their lives depended on it, and then find their popular culmination in this hamfisted rendering at the hands of a couple of spaced out hacks trying to make a fast buck riding the coat tails of some overweight talkshow blowhard, I want to be sick. 'nuff said.

Summary: Joy is not just a reaction, but an attitude.
Review: Spend 3 minutes a day being challenged to find or create joy, harmony, and simplicity in your life. I started reading this book when I had been RIF'd from my job, and it imbued self-confidence and self-worth to pursue what gave me joy - both in simple daily things and in big things like choosing a new job.

Summary: A GUIDE TO THE HIGHER POWER WITHIN....
Review: I've found the recent negative comments about this book quite interesting. SIMPLE ABUNDANCE is a New Age-type of book. It doesn't pretend to be otherwise. And it speaks to the belief, held by more than a few, that there is within each of us a HIGHER POWER that we can draw upon in our daily efforts to live our lives to the fullest. If you are among those who don't believe that we each draw from some kind of Higher Power -- God, Buddah, or whoever you might call Him (or Her)-- and that some part of that Higher Power is within each of us, then this book is probably NOT for you. Breathnach's references -- and there are numerous references from many, many different sources, including in a few instances, the Bible-- are meant to offer people some guidance on how they can live their lives in spiritual abundance and happiness. It is a book, I believe, that virtually anyone -- regardless of religious beliefs or background -- can come away from reading with something of value to add to their lives. Take whatever part works for you and forget the rest.

Summary: Christians Beware - Your Hypocrisy & Fear Exposed Here
Review: For those of you "true" Christians (please read that Religious Right) with a selfish, vengeful and jealous God, this book is definitely not for you. For those of you "other" Christians whose God is all loving, all accepting and who believe (S)He has endowed each of us with Herself/Himself from within, this book is for you!

For those Christians whose God is the true giver of peace from within and not the insecure deliverer of fear from without, this book is an affirmation for you.

For those Christians whose know that God's divinity is indeed our divinity, this book is a comfort for you.

For those Christians whose God is big enough to embrace all and small enough to respect all, this book is a gift for you.

For those Christians whose God is wise enough to recognize Taoism is not their witchcraft but Her/His edification, this book is an instruction.

For those Christians whose God indeed lights the fire within, this book is an illumination for you.

Summary: Sincere Christians- Beware!
Review: The basic premis of this book is that we all have the answers somewhere within ourselves. All we have to do is search our hearts. Can anything be any more opposed to scripture? The Bible clearly tells us we do NOT have or posses all we need in and of ourselves, and that our heart is not to be trusted. She tells us to let our feelings be our guide. Anyone with any sense knows that living emotionally is dangerous indeed, there is no bearing. She talks about offering the "Universe the gift of our greatful hearts", everyone's search for "Wholeness", and to "invite Spirit to open up the eyes of your inner awareness". If this doesn't sound "New Age", I do not know what would. Oh, and she quotes an "unabashed mystic" towards the end of the book. She also uses language that takes my mind towards witchcraft: words such as "Soulcraft", "Tao", "Taoism", and "Whishcraft" to name a few. Oct. 31st is the most scary to me- she discusses how she believes in magic "I believe Halloween is the perfect reminder that Magic flows through us, mystery infuses every encounter of every day." Who or what is "Magic"? She says we are "asleep to our Divinity" (Notice, not God's) that we are "shaping unseen forces" with our "soulcrafts" and how much more could we accomplish "if you were fully aware of your powers?" She calls us "O daughter of She" and encourages us "by candlelight or by the light of the full moon" to "commit to use your power wisely". As a Christian, I find this book deceptive and distracting in a very well written way. I would not reccommend it.

Summary: I am disappointed in this .
Review: By the cover, this book appears to be encouraging, etc. What I found was a steady drawing away from the only source of happiness {God} which is not ourselves. On every single page I read there was a Biblical contradiction (and I did NOT read this whole book.) If you are a follower of Christ, this is not the book for you. This book is very New Age, with every ingredient of a common cult, though the references are subtle at times. Please don't be fooled.

Summary: A Day Starter
Review: The author is able to let me see her day in such a way that makes me feel good about myself. Her suggestions and philosophies mirror my own and I find that I look forward to starting my day by reading what she has to say.

Summary: SIMPLE ABUNDANCE:A MEDITATION FOR THE YEAR 2000!
Review: Who haven't I given this book to? For Christmas, the New Year, Birthdays, Mothers Day, etc. etc. This is just a perfect gift of love -- and "self" to give to someone you care about.

Summary: Full of affirmations for women
Review: Simple Abundance is full of sound advice, affirmation, and encouragement for women everywhere. My meditation book, Soul Satisfaction, is a wonderful companion to it. Enjoy!

Summary: this book renews my soul.
Review: I have read this day book for several years now and have various phrases underlined. I love this book. It brings me comfort and sometimes speaks to me, as if Sarah knew my thoughts and wrote them down. She is a gifted writer with a sense of a deep soul. I wish I knew her so I could call her up and talk to her. You will love this book, each day it opens up more of yourself to you.
