Summary: Curls = Beauty!
Review: For years I never knew what to do with my naturally curly, very thick hair. As a child I always wore it in a ponytail and my teenage years were spent doing pretty much the same thing or using a flatiron, because it would just be embarrassing to risk having my hair do weird things on me if I tried to wear it curly in public. It wasn't until about a year ago that I just decided to be done with it. Why not? Compliments abound. How many ladies have admitted to you they wish their hair did something like yours? We have it built-in and don't appreciate it much! I decided to let my curls work for me instead of against me. When I discovered this book, I delighted in it and plan to utilize the techniques soon. Curly girls - consider yourself blessed to have this naturally beautiful hair!!! It's never too late to change.

Summary: Curls forevermore
Review: After reading only the first few pages, I knew I was going to love this book. I immediately related to the author, a fellow curly-headed girl. Life with curls is full of bad haircuts and styling tips. Never are their styles for curls in magazines or hairstyle books. I've just started the techniques she suggests (from skipping shampoo to using it MUCH less often), but I believe my curls are already showing signs of bounce they never showed before. I've tried the lavendar spray and am already a big fan.

This book has several recipes for conditioners and misting sprays, but one of the best things about it are the confessions from other curly girls (even a celebrity) about their love/hate relationship with their own spirals. The haircut tips are great too. She covers curls from every ethnic background too. This is a MUST have if you have a headful of curls, or know someone who does, and it still trying to come to grips with it.

Summary: Who Knew It Could Be So Easy
Review: After reading this book I was inspired to "take the plunge". I visited the Devachan salon where my frizzy wedge was transformed into a mop of curls. The cut is great but the real key is the care (little), styling tips (simple) and products (few) recommended in both the book and the salon (though I couldn't forego the shampoo and opted for a low detergent cleanser). This book is the best value around.

Summary: Even Better In Person
Review: I enjoyed Lorraine Massey's "Curly Girl" book so much that I decided to go to her salon (Devachan) which is located in New York City, and have my hair done. Carlos, one of her top notch stylists did a totally amazing job on my curls. The job he did on my hair was too good to be true. He thoroughly educated me on handling my hair and best of all, he took his time. This book is extremely informative and very well written. Any person with curly hair needs to run out and buy this great book. P.S. Lorraine Massey (the author) happens to be a nice and humble woman......with a beautiful accent.

Summary: The hair I've always wanted
Review: My hair didn't get really curly until I was in my 20s. I love curly hair, the curlier the better, but didn't really know what to do with it. Many days I'd wake up looking like Bozo - one puff of hair on the top, and one on each side. I've been following this book's principles for the past year now, and I'm really happy with my hair.

Summary: This book changed my life!
Review: I have always loved my curls but I used to wish for smoother hair since mine was sooooooo frizzy. I thought extra gel was the answer, but then my hair looked like dry ramen noodles (you could get hurt my hair was so crispy). After reading this book and realizing that shampoo was my foe, my hair has changed completely! It's shiny, soft, frizz-free even in the most humid weather. I especially liked the cleansing recipes the author includes to get rid of product buildup, they are safe and don't dry out my curls. I also paid close attention to her suggestion of using wheat germ conditioner and it works great! I have never been happier and I have started buying copies for all my curly haired family and friends.

Summary: Changed my life!
Review: A colleague at work suggested I read this book and it changed my life! Although I was skeptical about using conditioner in place of shampoo and not washing my hair every day, Lorraine's ideas REALLY work. My hair is in the best shape since childhood and I haven't used a blowdrier, hairbrush, or curling iron in 6 months. I can't tell you what freedom it is to let my hair do its naturally curly thing!

I like the fact that this book doesn't promote any brand of hair products, like the book by Ouidad. I enjoyed Lorraine's positive attitude about curly hair and learned a great deal about how to care for it. The washing and styling tips really work and there are lots of color pictures to illustrate everything she discusses.

I highly recommend this book to all curly girls (and even those who aren't). In fact, I'm going to buy a copy of this book for my straight-haired sister-in-law, who thinks my curly-haired neices have "such unruly hair that I just don't know what to do with it." I don't want them to spend a lifetime cutting, straightening, and hating their beautiful curly hair, like I did.

Summary: Life-Altering!
Review: I received this book as a gift and was really stunned by the no-shampoo advice, but decided I had nothing to lose. It works; my hair is happier AND my scalp is happier AND the compliments just keep on comin'.

Hey stylists, get a clue from this book and cut curly hair DRY.

Thank you, Lorraine

Summary: An eye opening experience
Review: I have always had a hard time caring for my curly & coarse hair.
This book was such an eye opening experience. I finally love my
hair now. I feel it gives me a brand new look & attitude.
Many people look at me strange sometimes but I love the way my
hair looks & feels. What a difference it has made not shampooing
anymore. I also have very little frizzies now.

I would suggest anyone with wavy, curly or frizzie hair to read
this book and use the suggestions it provides.

I thank the authors so much. Thanks for writing the book.

Summary: Love your curls!
Review: I first saw a reference for this book on the naturallycurly.com web site, and knew I had to own it. This book has given me the most helpful advice thus far on caring for my curls. Gone are the mornings when I spend hours on my hair. It has been so freeing to let my hair be what it wants to be. I feel sorry for any person that tortures their hair into something it was not meant to be, and this book was recommended especially for those people. Hopefully many more will discover how beautiful their hair can be!
