Review: I was absolutely amazed with the makeovers in this book! My favorite section is the celebrities section. He made up the celebrities pretty good. I had no idea that that was Gwyneth Paltrow as James Dean! :-) The best section is where there are makeovers on regular people. He motivated me to get a makeover.

Summary: This Book is Excellent
Review: This book inspires you and is a valuble resource. I brought it to my Beauty school and I had a hard time getting it back. The author gives excellent instruction as well as great personal storys. It was fun and entertaining. This book gives you step by step instructions on application. From a Cosmotologist view point, if you are thinking about getting more involved in make-up, or brushing up on some skill this book is for you.

Summary: find your inner beauty with Kevyn.
Review: A chatty, happy, feel good book. The "fantasy" pictures are gorgeous, and the before and afters are just as fabulous. Find Martha Stewart and tell me if you don't see her in a completely new light. I love that this book doesn't say "you have to be X way to be beautiful" it says "find out what works for you and play it up baby! You're Beautiful!" I took it to work for someone to look at for a few minutes, I didn't get it back for a week. Five other people had to borrow it before I saw it again. It was a handy tool for my friends getting ready for halloween parties and I've felt a little more glamerous every day since I bought it. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what will.

Summary: Amazing Artistry but Lacking in "How To!"
Review: Although Kevin Aucoin is an unaparalleld make-up artist, I was disappointed in the lack of practical hints and techniques for the average person in this coffee table book. Another irritation is the refusal to give name brands for the various foundations, mascaras, blushes, and liptsticks used. The excuse that Kevin gives that, "they may be out of use in three months" just doesn't fly. The real reason is based on the $(dollar) sign--Revlon, Chanel, Arden, Estee Lauder et al. may not hire Mr. Aucoin if he recommends one brand over another. This is not helpful to the reader who has no idea what a "reddish-brown cream blush" or a "light beige lipstick" is. That being said, the make overs of stars and every day people are amazing.

Review: Pure Genius! Kevyn not only knows how to 'paint a face', but he's also handy with pen and paper. I loved every inch of this book, from the title page to the credits. As with his previous book Making Faces, he outlines each look he makes and simplfies the process so that the non-professional can achieve a similar finish. If you are looking for a book on make-up and application, look no further. You will enjoy it!!!

Review: I have not purchased the book, but plan to do so today. I browsed through the book yesterday in a salon where I was getting my hair cut. My hairdresser and I were astonished at the magnificent transformations. Kevyn is extremely gifted. Not only does he change the look of people, but has step by step instructions on how to achieve each look. Kevyn is truly a sensational artist.

Review: I saw Kevyn on the Oprah show! How beautiful the women were after Kevyn's talented artistry. The book is a must have. It shows the techniques that even we can use. Explained so even we can actually understand. This will be a great christmas gift for my girlfriends with the "six essential items" he recommends attached to the gift box! (so martha.....I know).....

Review: I've been a long time admirer of Kevyn Aucoin, having bought his book Making Faces. I immediately purchased this one, and let me tell you, it's worth EVERY PENNY! Don't tell me that Winona Ryder is Liz Taylor. That Gwyneth Paltrow is Faye Dunaway. That MARTHA STEWART can look glamorous as Veronica Lake. That Calista Flockhart bears such a striking resemblence to Audrey Hepburn. That Tina Turner isn't just as I would picture Cleopatra. And don't tell me that Hilary Swank is Raquel Welch in One Million Years BC! This book is a work of pure makeup genius, and I don't know anyone other than Kevyn who could pull that off.
