Summary: Break free from using food to feed your soul.
Review: Praise the Lord. I finally understand why I have dieted all my life and been unhappy with the results. This book will allow you to let your body learn how to eat by letting God be in control. I can't believe how often I turn to food without thinking about why I'm eating. I finally feel free to eat what I want, because I'm eating only when I'm hungry. I'm no longer feeding my feelings. I'm now turning to God when my heart is hungry. It may sound easy, but it isn't. This book will help teach you how to listen to your stomach and your heart. Don't wait any longer. You're worth it.

Summary: Great book. Not only diet book but wonderful for Bible Study
Review: This wonderful book has helped me see just how many gods I have in my life. Very eye opening, not only as a diet book but also helped my focus be on the one true GOD. Thank you Gwen and mostly thank you to my GOOD LORD for inspiring people to write Your message. :)

Summary: spirit filled and fabulous
Review: i was introduced to the weigh down diet about 5years ago. i lost 23lbs in 4months. nothing else that i tried ever made me feel like i was actually doing it right. with this christ centered approach it all made sense and something more powerful than i helped me through everyday. everyday was and is a journey. i loved the book, it was straight to the point and and very informative as far as how the body responds to the food we eat. you hear so many different stories on what and how much to eat . This was simple not a lot of thought , eat when stomache hungry, go to the lord when head hungry and eat what you really want. eating made simple and with the help of christ it really works. Thank you gwen for the program and thank you Lord for your help.

Summary: Nutritionally Good, Biblically, Not much grace
Review: I have read the book and am doing the Weigh Down workshop - I find that her nutritional principles work very well and I have started losing weight. BUT she doesn't know much about God's Grace and that we are accepted because of Christ - she keeps harping on obedience and self-effort. It is very subtle, but it can again put you on a self-effort rollercoaster.

Summary: Ideas in this book were right on:I didn't enjoy the delivery
Review: I really think that weight loss based on biblical truths is a great concept, but I didn't always find Gwen's writing style to be sincere. She seemed to be a little too "perfect"... I also felt that she oversimplifed the basic chemistry of nutrition to fit "her" program. I am reading a similar book by D. Hampton which is more straight forward. It gets to the point in a way that I can relate to and makes me want to follow God's plan.....not Gwen's plan.

Summary: I've finally found the answer
Review: I have only been on this program for 1 week , and I have already lost 4 pounds . I finally can eat what I want without guilt . I dont even want to overeat anymore. I finally faced the problem that my love of food was more important to me than my desire for living life as God intended. I now can put God first and no longer desire to overeat. Gwen knew exactly what I had been going through. She opened my eyes to what Gods plan is and brilliantly he designed our bodies. I eat a little chocolate every day , along with other favorites and the pounds are coming off !!!

Summary: My life has changed 180 degrees because of this book.
Review: Six months ago I saw Ms. Shamblin on the Home & Family show promoting her book. At that point something really snapped. I ran out and bought her book. Two days later I had lost two pounds already. Now I am down 47 pounds with 13 more to go. Maybe you see no significance in this. You must understand though, that I have been on every diet and exercise regimen known to man. I would lose a little, but it came right back on. I read the book in less than a week and made the comment to a friend that now I was just a skinny person stuck temporarily in a fat body. I was positive my life changed for good. And I'm still positive. I stayed home for 7 years with my children. Now I work full-time and dress nice and have a great relationship with my parents and kids and left that ogre of a man and I am filled with unending joy all the time... see what I mean?! It's so simple. If you believe, it will be a life-altering experience for you too. God Bless You!

Summary: Gwen's book is great!
Review: Gwen has put into words what I've thought about "dieting" for years, but didn't know how to say it. I agree with her concepts completely and for those of you that do not agree, I suggest that you re-read the book again. You may have missed some of it. But, although I agree, that still doesn't keep me from over-eating. I'm not aware of any deep-seated problems that I have to blame over-eating on; my heart belongs to God, but my head still controls; I just like to eat. Guess I'm still in the desert and have not reached the promised land yet. Didn't any of you have these struggles? From some of the reviews, it seems like the solution was SO easy for you.

Summary: 60 pounds and counting.
Review: From looking at these reviews, there is no middle ground--people either love this book or they hate it!

I look around me every day and see people who preach low-fat diets, fitness fads, miracle foods, and super supplements. At one time I bought into many of those things, but none took the weight off permanently. They did not deal with the problem--my overeating. People are looking for easy answers, quick results, and bottled solutions to their problems; it is as if they view their problems as external to themselves, rather than in their own hearts. The basic message of this book, I feel, is this: In the grand heirarchy of creation, God ranks above you, and you rank above food and just about everything else. Never serve that which is lesser than yourself, even if it's 100% whole wheat.

I've lost 60 pounds in the last nine months, with another 40 pounds to go. My life no longer revolves around food, dieting and/or exercise. (Even though I was and still am overweight, I spent a lot of time, money, and energy trying to lose weight.) I recommend this book to anyone who has tried everything else. This is not a diet. This is an attitude adjustment. Serve the Lord instead of your dinner plate and the pounds will vanish!

Summary: It has changed my life. I am finally free
Review: This book has changed my life! I have been overweight (240 lbs-currently) and a "professional dieter" (as Gwen describes) all of my life. I have strong faith, but do not attend church regularly and wondered "just how is God going to help me lose weight", but once I turned my eating disorder over to him I felt free immediately. I am doing it and it is so easy. I don't feel a slave to diets anymore. I don't have to read the labels anymore. I feel a strength and resolve that I have never felt. Anyone who has been on diets or just doesn't feel good in their own skin NEEDS to read this book. It will change your life, both physically and spiritually.
