Rating: Summary: The diary of a martial arts master who wasn't afraid to grow Review: In contrast to many present day martial artists, Lee didn't regard his own skills as a monolithic, immutable religion that never needed to change. He had the true humility to keep evolving his art, improving it without fear of discarding what had become useless--whether classical or not. The "Tao" is a fascinating look at a bold and curious mind at work. What rigid classicists fail to realize when they refuse to evolve ever because their style is "carved in stone", is that even in their own art, somebody at somepoint had to CREATE it, either from some new combination of older styles or out of nothing.
Rating: Summary: Little Dragon's Book Review: This book that Bruce Lee(Little Dragon)wrote is a very good martial arts book. It's a very good technique that Bruce Lee created himself.
Rating: Summary: great book Review: This is an excellent book if you are interested in a no nonsense approach to the combative arts. I would like to point out that sometime after writing the notes that make up this fine book bruce changed to a western boxing style stance. He was ever changing and who knows what he would be doing today. he gets into the mechanics of the techniques. if you are versed in any other style or system you will probably see some of it in this book. Jeet kune do is a conglomeration of what works from many styles using the good throwing out the ineffective and exploiting weaknesses of each style. there are STRONG similarities to BANDO. anyone into BANDO will love this book. i would like to recommend any books by DR. Gyi and Bob Maxwell on the subject of BANDO. Been a While since i read TAO. so i'd like to read it again and do another review but as someone whos been studying combative arts for many years and BANDO for a few of those let me say that in my humble opinion this is essential reading and a must have for your martial arts library regardless of what style or system you're interested in.
Rating: Summary: ESSENTIAL! Review: If you are a Bruce Lee fan, interested in Martial Arts, A Jeet Kune Do student or be that a student of any Martial Art then this book is essential to you. This represents the inner workings and theories of Bruce Lee as he was developing Jeet Kune Do. Sure you can not learn an art form from a book but a book can inspire a prospective student, help guide a beginner and add to the knowledge of someone more experienced. If you are a serious student then read this book. It covers all areas of Bruce's personal training including warm-up techniques and fitness training. The journey then continues onto notes about combat strategies (tools, preparations, mobility and attacks). As I have previously said buy this book! If you like Martial Arts, Bruce Lee or just serious training then buy this Book!

Rating: Summary: The serius martial-artist's ORGAZM ! Review: When I first ordered TOJKD and the "Bruce Lee's Fighting Method" books , I did'nt know that Bruce was not only a super-gifted martial-artist , but also perhaps the greatest innovator of modern martial-arts since Sun Tzu or Myamoto Musashi !I soon learned it , as any knew reader would too. "Tao of Jeet Kune Do" made me feel like i've been struke by lightning in first read! So many enlightments , and such indepth look on EVERYTHING that makes a martial-artist an efficiant fighter! Bruce lee was a kinethetic genius , a very intelligent person , a gifted martial-artist , and an avangard-thinker - You will never think the same about martial arts practicallity again , and the change is for the better , believe me. A mixture of philosophy and down-to-earth tips , remarks concerning being better than you are now , and more than that , makes this one of the greatest martial-arts books ever written. A MUST FOR THE ANALLITIC/SCIENTIFIC MARTIAL-ARTIST.
Rating: Summary: Jeet Kune D'oh! Review: When I was in the infancy of my martial arts training, I worshipped this book. Recently, I unearthed a copy from my basement, dusted off the cover and opened it for the first time in nearly 14 years. In retrospect, I must confess that I have absolutely no idea what I found so captivating about this book. Then it dawned on me, I never truly read it until now. Like many young martial artists, I fell for all the trappings and mystique that surrounded Bruce Lee. I abandoned all logic and criticism and took everything regarding Bruce Lee with an optimistic leap of faith. I was naive and impressionable, but I didn't develop my deductive reasoning until later on in life. The Tao of Jeet Kune Do is still highly touted by many as the greatest literary work on martial arts ever written. But then you have to ask yourself: who is saying this? Collectively, it's the legions of Bruce Lee fanatics ...If you worship Bruce Lee (some people actually consider him a god), by all means buy this book. But then again you guys probably already have 15 copies of it cased in vaccuum-sealed plastic! All other readers: don't get your hopes up. From the first page to the last, it's ultimately the same meandering meditations. On the whole, it's ambiguous and relatively benign. The author himself states in the final paragraph of the book to throw it away when you're finished reading it. Sound advice. I only wished he wrote that at the beginning. I've read worse, but I've read a lot better martial arts and meditative books than this. ...
Rating: Summary: The Tao of Jeet Kune Do wasn't written by Bruce Lee Review: This book may be quite a good read, and yes, was done when Bruce had his injured back, but he didn't write it. He took notes from all the different martial arts books he could get his hands on and wrote them in journels. They were published after he died. Great to get an overview.
Rating: Summary: strategic book in a phylosophical expression! Review: this book is explaining all the strategies of the fighting art of jeet kune do as well as his phylosophy wich combined and explained wonderfully to anyone. how to disabled the opponent is an art that have to contain all the aspects of war such as:timming, distances, rythm, tecniques, psycology, and other things that also covered wonderfully in this book. there are also illustration drawings of fighting tecniqes that was made by bruce himself when he was alive.a very enlighting book in every sence of the way.
Rating: Summary: notes from a daringly innovative master Review: Bruce Lee was a terrible actor but a fighting genius who took whatever he learned, improved it, and taught it...never to be bound by the "fancy mess" so many traditional styles had become, Bruce stuck to what worked.
