Rating: Summary: Enlightenment From The Tao Review: The Tao OF Jeet Kune Do is a compilation of Bruce's views and notes which were written during those unfortunate 6 months when he was confined to the bed owing to a serious back injury. This compilation has been put together by Bruce's widow Linda Lee Cadwell after her husband's untimely demise. Bruce did not want this book to be a used as a guide. He wanted this to provide an insight into his opinions about the world of martial arts, oriental philosophy (Tai'chi etc) and the principles which would make a perfect martial artist. It is a must for every serious martial arts practitioner. It goes well with Bruce's assertions on no mindedness and having no form as the ultimate form.
Rating: Summary: A Book For Philosophers and Martial Artists Alike! Review: Bruce Lee, as a philosopy major in college, provides us with some excellent pointers for everyday living as well as for martial arts training in this book. I read this book while studying Eastern philosophy and I just could not believe how well Lee was able to apply the ancient philosophies of Taoism to everyday living.Note that this book was not meant to teach you the art of Jeet Kun Do, per se. Rather, Lee's intention for writing this book was to give his readers a general philosophy as well as a basis to train for any fighting system. He also discloses his mind for the world to inspect. Lee has diligently lived his philosophy in everything he does, from accepting challenges from fighters around the world to dealing with family problems. His philosophy is one of peace and flexibility. It is one philosophy that we could all learn a little from.

Rating: Summary: More than just technique Review: I am just beginning to become involved in martial arts, so I was not sure how helpful this book would be to me. I was glad once I got it to find it full of advice I could apply just as easily to my practice and work in the art of music. This book is worth the price for the philosophy section even if you have no interest in learning martial arts. If you are interested in learning martial arts, this book will not be enough, you need to take classes, but this can be an excellent supplement.
Rating: Summary: It was a personal way of showing what he felt about it. Review: I think Bruce showed just how important it was to not to have fixed positions in Martial Arts. I'm no expert but if I decided to get more involved I would use this book to help me on my path to getting better.I do recommend this to anyone who would consider really getting in touch with his or hers personal touch in Martial Arts.
Rating: Summary: 2 Review: Whether you're serious or not about the martial arts, I strongly recommend this book. Trouble is, if you're not serious you won't understand a lot of it. Many of the concepts and theory presented are complex and require a strong background in martial arts to understand. Regardless, any beginner will be better off for having read it. This is one of those books you'll read more than once because there is so much of Bruce's insight contained within this book. The book is not an exciting read, but it's one that you'll always keep. Tao contains Bruce's philosophy, mind set, and techniques that made him unique. I rated the book as 4 stars only because it's not necessarily an enjoyable read, but it's a great one. Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC Review: I've been studing martial arts for several years and over that time i have read many book this was definatly one of the best.
Rating: Summary: Fascinating insight... Review: If you're a student of martial arts of any discipline you should buy this book and read it from cover to cover. The knowledge contained within it is amazing and makes me sad that we will never get to see what other teachings Bruce Lee would have created had he not died in 1973. The book includes hundreds of diagrams, many hand drawn by Lee, accompanied by text that clearly conveys what it is Bruce wanted to say. The book covers form, training, mental discipline, and all other facets of the martial arts. Order it today and enjoy it as much as I did..
Rating: Summary: From the Co-Author of "Attack Proof" Review: Beyond being a "Bruce Lee" fan as the co-author of Attack Proof: The Ultimate Guide to Personal Protection, having studied and taught Martial Arts for a number of years. Both in the military and to members of law enforcement such as the NYPD and Yonkers PD, I can tell you that there are an extremely "rare" number of books which I would regard with any measure of credibility. Over the years I've accumulated a sizable number of books on the martial arts I can attest that most books, which attempt to discuss the more philosophical dimensions of the martial arts are worthless at best! The success of this ground breaking book shattered long standing paradigms about the martial arts, martial arts training and the importance of a functional wholistic martial arts system rather than one which narrowly focuses on a single or specific aspect to fighting. In fact much of the success of "Attack Proof" and similar books on fighting could be attributed to the barriers that were shattered with the release of the Tao of Jeet Kune Do. I highly recommend this book for those wishing to begin their journey on the martial way!
