Summary: Bitchy, Biting, British Wit and Honesty at its Best
Review: If you haven't seen these two on their BBC America show, you have truly missed something special. If you have, you would as I did, buy the book at full price at Harrods' during my 2 day stop in London but instead, for you, here it is on Amazon! I should have known I'd find it here just as soon as I got back to the States.

I love these two for their humor, their insight as to the self confindence wearing the right clothes can give, their hammering on about how you don't have to have the "perfect" figure to look amazing, their honesty (for themselves as well as you), and for the fact that at the end of the day, despite what appears on the surface as a couple of "Beasty Women" (as one "victim" called them), they are two good hearts who want nothing more than to see a woman blossom with joy and confidence from the knowing that she truly looks wonderful.

I spent my flight over the Atlantic reading the book page for page and found even the pages devoted to problems which are not mine a fun read. When was the last time you found yourself smiling and giggling (and I'm not a giggler) while reading a book devoted to fashion? As Trinny and Suzanna say "...your friends won't tell you but we are not your friends and we will." Well, I'm not your friend either but, I'm telling you get this book!

Summary: There's more body types in the real world
Review: Don't bother with this book unless you're tall and skinny or tall and fat. These are the authors' only options in the real world. It's actually a book about how they dress THEMSELVES. Anyone said 'ego trip?' Especially if you happen to carry a petite frame then, well, you're simply non-existent to them to put it nicely that is!

Summary: Thank god
Review: This is not the kind of book I'm likely to pick up, but I was aware of all the hype, picked it up, leafed thru it - and bought it. It's great. Big boobs? Little boobs? Big butt, thick ankles, short legs, flabby upper arms? What's you problem? With this book, you won't have one - or two. These babes will tell you which clothes to give away (to someone with the opposite set of problems), what to buy and why, how to wear it - and even where to buy it. Forget 'love yourself just the way you are;' this book is about 'love yourself in the right clothes, just the way you are.'
Wonderful.

Summary: Diverting and fun but no real news here
Review: I'm a fan of the U.S. version of WNTW (never had BBC America to see the Brit version). I really like the concept of eliminating certain clothing types and shapes based on what you want to conceal and emphasize. And I enjoyed leafing through this book (which took maybe 45 min. to an hour for the whole thing). But it is not exactly packed with ah-ha moments. Much of it is common sense. In a couple of instances (such as Susannah wearing the black halter dress) I felt the "bad" picture was better than the "best" one (in that case, she had a jarringly ugly orange patterned dress on in the "best" page). The best advice is to listen to the rules, review your own wardrobe for what works and what doesn't and then break the rules, where it makes sense. One potentially serious flaw here: They have no advice for how to coordinate dressing for a number of different trouble spots, such as short neck *and* big breasts *and* big arms. It's hard to decipher how to merge all the advice into a flattering outfit.

Summary: Has some useful information
Review: Their basic facts are on the money , but their pick in clothing is dowdy and at times mis-matched. They left out no butt and skinny legs and age appropriate clothing. I would wait and by a used book like mine.:-) Thanks for listening, Chea Dukes, Atlanta

Summary: These girls are ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!
Review: I love BBC's "What Not To Wear" I love how the authors are honest about their own body flaws. They give practical advice that you can use. The book is well worth the price!

Summary: Decent visual reference, but not substantial enough
Review: I am a big fan of Trinny and Susannah's show on BBC, but I was a little disappointed with this book. While [$$] is not a fortune to pay for a book, I was expecting something more substantial than the free advice they shell out on the show. For instance, I wish they spent some time on how to diagnose your figure problems, explaining what the ideal proportions are and what proportions therefore qualify as short-legged or short-torsoed. Instead, they launch directly into a magazine-style photo spread of dos and don'ts for different figure types, which is useful as a visual reference when planning your wardrobe but is no more informative than their television show.

The whole book seemed like it was written and produced in a matter of days. If you are an observant viewer of the TV show, you already know everything they cover in the book, so it really isn't worth the cover price.

P.S. Sorry, but to say that Trinny suffers from having a big butt is almost absurd enough to be funny.

Summary: Not for the big gut, no butt woman!!
Review: This is a great book, because it addresses some of the common problem areas that women have. My only critique is that it doesn't address 2 common figure flaws: 1) the big lower abdomen that women get from childrearing, and 2) the flat "no butt". In addition, I wish they showed even more styles of clothing for each area, because I kept wondering about other styles & cuts not mentioned. Other than that, a fabulous book presented in a very clear manner. How about a hair style book next?!?

Summary: A must-have for fashion winners and losers!!
Review: As an ardent viewer of "WNTW" on BBC America, I had a genuine interest in this book (was initially going to order on the BBC web site), and in finding out my personal fashion successes and faux pas. Trinny and Susannah clearly illustrate what is the best and worst for each body shape, and give the reader the golden rules on what to wear (and of course, what to avoid).

If you are a fan of the "cruel to be kind" approach these gals serve up on TV, this book is a must-have. Since they did a male makeover on a recent show, I hope that they will write a similar book for the guys in the near future!!

Summary: Great primer for your most flattering looks!
Review: Buy this book! You'll use it again and again. Mostly good advice for maximizing your figure while hiding its flaws. Hard to believe it when you look at Trinny, but she does have a few figure flaws which the book points out. I think that's reassuring for the audience to realize that there really isn't a perfect figure, she is just working with what she has. I recommend this book but I do have a few cautions:

As one of the other posters mentioned, many of the shops they recommend are in the UK, although with a little effort you can locate some of those same shops here in the states (Club Monaco for example).

Also they really slam high waisted pants, completely ignoring the fact that those of us who have shorter legs long for the day when highwaisted pants are back in vogue. People face it, unless you are super skinny and long legged no one should wear low-riders. Least of all the person who made them famous...
