Summary: Better than What Not To Wear after 40
Review: Really enjoyed this book. Funny, provocative, practical, educational. It was helpful. Not always realistic as the body types they used (themselves) are not typical of all body types, but it was still a good indicator of what kind of clothes are appropriate and flattering in most cases.

Summary: Don't waste your money.
Review: The book is full of pictures... fun to look at, but does not give good understand of what items to actually buy.

A MUCH BETTER choice would be: Does This Make Me Look Fat? : The Definitive Rules for Dressing Thin for Every Height, Size, and Shape by Leah Feldon. This book has excellent advice.

If you're still not convinced, preview it at the library. You'll be done with it after the checkout line wait.

Summary: Good for what it is
Review: I remember the first time I opened up this book, I cracked up! The two women (authors?) dress up in "unflattering" clothes with disdain looks on their faces, and then to see them on the next page in a more "flattering" style with big smiles. I found that hilarious, because it reminded me a lot of those cheesy ads for too-good-to-be-true weight loss ads.

Sure, there's not much substance besides those photos, but that's okay because they get the point across for some pretty useful advice. If you are an average Jane looking to improve/refine your look, this might be a good place to start. And it's not that spendy of a book, so who cares if it doesn't have a lot of substance? I'd say weed what not to wear out of your wardrobe, but definitely leave "What Not to Wear" on your wishlist/shopping cart/bookshelf.

Summary: Love the show, Love the book
Review: I love this book! At first glance, it seemed rather short and just a lot of photos. But I kept referring back to the photos and the funny little captions, and Trinny and Susannah are right on the money.

I have a body very much like Trinny's so the flat chest examples work wonderfully for me. However, after having two babies, I was having a hard time finding pants and skirts to fit my new flabbier tummy. I followed the examples in the book and VOILA, problem solved.

Just give the ideas a try next time you go shopping. You'll find yourself gravitating toward styles that will fit and flatter your form better. Don't concentrate on the individual outfits, but the style principle it is trying to demonstrate. Following their rules,I find that I can now order clothes from catalogs and be pretty much assured they will fit.

Summary: What Not To Buy
Review: If you have only one problem area, this book might be for you. Before you buy, check it out at the library or buy it used. Otherwise, don't waste your money. Individual solutions to multiple 'problem' areas cancel each other out. The entire book address the problem area and solutions aimed to make the authors look good, not the average reader. WHAT NOT TO BUY? This Book!!!

Summary: For me the most helpful book to date
Review: For me this is the most helpful book on the subject I ever read -- and together with "The Lucky Shopping Manual" the only guide a woman will ever need. The book is grouped into body parts that might need hiding: saddlebags, flabby tummy, short legs -- rather than body types. I have positively 4 of the 10 described "body flaws" and my body sort of "borders" on 4 more "flaws" so it is very helpful for me that I am enabled to mix and match my hiding strategies rather than having to decide on one body type. In all the other books I ever read I have never been able to decide on just one body type so when I tried to follow their tips I always ended up looking pretty dowdy and feeling pretty frustrated. Although some of the suggestions contradict each other I still find it easier to make my pick between two clothes shapes rather than hundreds. It is a very refreshing strategy that the authors focus on items that should definitely be avoided. Honestly, I will know immediately how other's should dress, but for myself I feel I dress for the person I'm in my head rather than the person I really am. The "worst case" pictures in the book enabled me to assess my body and wardrobe very honestly. I really like the authors approach to not focus on fashion but rather on styles that suit the individual body as it is so easy to get sidetracked when one loves fashion magazines as much as I do. Fashion can be really hard for someone who loves the latest trends but who's body is a far cry from model size! The book's approach taught me to focus on shape first and on fashion only secondly -- it really works! Shopping had been pretty frustrating for me in the past as I could never find the looks that I liked in magazines and on other people -- or they just looked horrible on me. So I ended up with very few things that I looked great in, and wore the same things all the time -- pretty frustrating for someone who loves fashion! I also ended up with many things I never wore. Since I bought the book I have added many more choices to my wardrobe that I look great in and wear a lot -- and I have also not made another wrong purchase. Thanks so much Trinny and Susannah!

Summary: Common sense, but some women need it!
Review: I bought this book because I wanted to make sure I was dressing right for my figure - I have more than one of the "offending" body parts listed in the book. This book and the information contained therein mainly confirmed that I had been dressing correctly for my figure all along! I was pleasantly surprised. There were a few extra tips that were helpful, and some of the verbiage was rather amusing so I don't consider the book a waste for myself. I have seen women who desperately need this book and I wish I could give them each a copy. Some of the other reviewers say there are better books out there - show me, show me! I would love to buy those too!

Summary: Same old stuff!
Review: I'm actually sick and tired of seeing Sussanah's crooked toes sweeping the floor in the very same wrong sized open-toes over and over again! Hide your flaws girls! Or maybe their advice is just for the readers?! When you buy a fashion book you also deserve to see NEW items displayed in it. Once again it's just 'do as I say, not as I do'. They use the same items over and over again in the pictures to the point that they look outdated. How can they insist that we toss our shabby when they don't toss theirs? They also wear no stockings in any of the pictures which looks really cheap. To cut a long story short, this book looks as if it was for some quick bucks! Spend yours somewhere else instead!

Summary: love the book
Review: I think that the bood is just as good as the show. Susannah and Trinny show just exactly what does work and what does not and the all important why.

Summary: Tell us something we don't know
Review: Come on! Every 'tip' in this book was totally obvious and something everyone already knows. There were no tricks on how to dress to cover flaws that were not Duh! I know if I have fat arms not to wear short sleeves. I was very disapointed in this book.
