Rating: Summary: Most important book I have read Review: This is by far the most dynamic book that I have ever read. It started changing my life before I had even finished it. This book should be required reading for anyone who wants to improve their life.
Rating: Summary: Life is not fair--how to cope with it Review: I cringed when I read Amazon's description of this as a "self-help" book, given that I quit reading self-help books a few years ago because I decided I can only do so much with the cards I was dealt. Did Phil McGraw ever challlenge that assumption! I find that I can only read a chapter at a time because I am so gripped with ideas, thoughts, and issues that it takes a while to process them. As Life Law #8 attests, "We teach people how to treat us." This book truly gives insight into the incredible power within each of us to respond to the simple fact that life is not fair.
Rating: Summary: This book is fascinating Review: This is an incredible book. It teaches you how to live now. And more importantly than that, how to face responsibility for what happens to you. Read Phillip's book, it will change your life.
Rating: Summary: Stimulating from front to back!! Review: Dr. McGraw opens up many areas of study never touched before. Many topics were very refreshing to read, an all around A+. I was hooked after the first chapter, and read all the way through chapter four the first night.
Rating: Summary: Powerful, life-altering, tell it like it is. Review: This book is one of the most down to earth ways to change your life, if you are serious about improving yourself and your attitudes. The strategies are powerfully outlined, being specific on certain actions you can take in order to effect changes toward becoming positive and happy with yourself. The life laws have already helped me to discover many things about myself which will help me toward that end. I believe this book could change many, many people's lives for the better if read and practiced. MORE please!!!
Rating: Summary: This Book Isn't About Law or the Courts Review: Whatever possessed anyone to write a review of this book as a court or law text? Indeed, McGraw did assist Oprah Winfrey during the absurd "beef scandal," but this book has NOTHING to do with that. Instead this is a quick, practical guide for the common person to solve abstract, irrational, and overwhelming emotional problems with common sense, 10 deep breathes, and a plan of action. There is no psycho-babble here and above all, McGraw does not let his readers off the hook. The options are clear, either do the work and get over the problem or wallow in anger, guilt, shame, and sadness the rest of your life with whatever secondary gain you happen to obtain. So, go fix yourself a nice veggie burger and use this book for a great life ahead.
Rating: Summary: Taking Charge Review: While most level headed and realistic people would agree, the fact of the matter is that we are all individuals in a very complex and always changing world which we have to learn to manage if we are to have any likelihood of success. We are all filled with joys, fears, hopes, and frustrations. We all feel, laugh, and hurt. And we all want to be understood, accepted, and appreciated. Dr. McGraw's book will surprise the reader and even bring a laugh or two while bringing the stark reality of the 10 Life Laws into focus. As I read this book I was encouraged to see myself in a different light and perhaps as Lily Tomlin once said, "The best mind altering drug is truth." If you find your life is still at the corner of "walk" and "don't walk", this book is the green light to go. Great book, great job Dr. McGraw!
Rating: Summary: This book changed my life. Review: Before I discovered this book my life was a mess. Now I have been promoted at the office and I have a new lover. The fact that he is the Managing Director of my company could be a complication but now I can face anything
Rating: Summary: Essentials for successful living, from a no-nonsense expert Review: Now that I've read Life Strategies, I'm wondering why anyone would bother with those "fuzzy wuzzy," give-yourself-a-hug self-help books -- Dr. McGraw gets right to the point and lays it all out in his uniquely direct way. I felt like I was sitting in the audience of one of his Oprah shows, only this time with the luxury of hearing him carefully explain the big picture. This book is easy to read but offers solid advice, and the "Life Laws" are fleshed out with striking examples from Dr. McGraw's many years of experience. You feel challenged but inspired after reading it -- a wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: Power and clarity in how to truly make a change!!!! Review: Dr. McGraw has absolutely broken the code of living in a demanding world. His straight forward and honest style is so very refreshing. I read this book in one sitting and am now studying it daily. This book is the alternative to the quick fix hype that is out there. I already see so many ways I have been sabotaging myself. The Life Laws are profound and the "Guided Tour" of my life was the most revealing thing I have ever done. This book is uplifting to say the least. It should be required reading for anyone who really wants to maximize their life. Dr. McGraw thank you for helping me find me and start treating myself with dignity and respect for the first time in my life.
