Rating: Summary: A must read for those in need of overcoming the odds! Review: When my friend woke me early in the morning to tell me about this book, I was like great, another flowery self-help book! However, I listened to her and bought Life Strategies: Doing What Works, Doing What Matters that DAY and the book provided the answers I was looking for. What I needed was a tough, firm, no-nonsense approach to dealing with my issues and Phillip McGraw provided that outlet! I grew tired of playing the victim and need to take ACTION in my life to build a rewarding life for myself. Thank you for providing such an excellent resource. This book will transform many lives!
Rating: Summary: If you can read, get this book! Review: If you can read, get this book. If you have a teenager, get them this book. If you have a friend, relative or co-worker who is stuck in a bad relationship, bad job or just plain old bad life, get them this book. This should be read by everyone! If your life is messed up in any way, this will show you how to make it better. If your life is perfect, this will validate what you are doing already! Just cannot say enough about how this book can make a positive change in your life! You will be a better spouse, parent, sibling, friend. If everyone read this book, the world would be a different place.
Rating: Summary: Life is given to you, but only you can conquer it. Review: This book was given to me by my father, it will be the most sacred thing that he will have ever given to me. With only a couple of chapters of the book done and each excercise complete, i have changed my life around. ALREADY.I am a 22 yr old single mother of 2(boys 3 and 3 mo.). I have had a difficult time of acccepting lifes worst hardships. Dr.McGraw has given me the chance to accept things and change them. I am now turning the corner to a new life. As is a better relationship with my father. All thanks to a most excellent writer and teacher.
Rating: Summary: This is the best book I have ever heard on tape. Review: This book will change your life whether you want it to or not. You can not listen to Philip McGraw and not change your outlook on running your own life. Get it and you will be very happy you did.
Rating: Summary: this really is a must read especially if you are a human Review: This guy has a lot of secrets that he gets accross quickly and so I can understand too! A great book for those who have a feeling that everything isn't exactly right but can't put their finger on what's not working and fix it your self. Three years of therpy on four tapes.
Rating: Summary: A provocative and challenging book of practical strategies. Review: This book is a valuable contribution to no-nonsense literature that focuses on personal change strategies. The author has compiled a compendium of life strategies that are articulated in a clear and persuasive manner. The language and ideas expressed are plain and simple yet very compelling. It is unfortunate that this most interesting book is devoid of reference notes, bibliography, or appendices since attribution would be helpful for further study of source material. I would recommend this book to anyone and like others will look forward in anticipation to more and equally original work from this author.
Rating: Summary: This book is perfect for everyone!! Review: As Dr. McGraw says in Life Law #7, Life is managed not cured, and no matter how happy or successful you are this book will help to make you a better "Life Manager" and thus help you to get more of what you want out of life. Dr. McGraw's common sense approach to a better life is refreshing in comparison to the marketing ploy, give your inner-child a hug non-sense that fills the self-improvement ailes these days. Oprah calls him Dr. "tell it like it is" Phil and that is sure true in this book. Dr. Phil certainly did not lose his powerful voice on paper. Dr. McGraw tells us what we need to hear, not what we want to hear. It is nice to finally read a book based on results and not buz words, and it is certainly producing the results I have looked for for so long. Thank you Dr. Phil, I look forward to seeing more of you on the Oprah show. Oprah obviously believes in you and so do I.
Rating: Summary: You get it or you dont Review: This book is and has been strait forward. it gets to the point of things. , do what you need to make what you want happen. My husband is now enjoying this book. Its the only "self help-improvement book" he has not been able to put down.
Rating: Summary: This book has nothing to do with Politics. Review: Phillip McGraw may have helped Oprah win a large and stressful court battle but most importantly he helped her understand what it truly means to create your own experience. This book has nothing to do with politics. The only mention of the Oprah court case is in the beginning of the book. The remainder deals with how to manage one's life effectively. It doesn't matter if you consider yourself a Republican or Democrat. Changing your life for the better is non-partisan. We have become a nation of victims trying to see who can be more pathetic. Philip McGraw helps one understand that unless you get out of that victim mentality, life will never get better. It has to do with real life strategies to help one change their life for the better. Many won't like what he says because it is easier to stay in a comfort zone than to go out and take risks. This is an action oriented book. Meaning that you won't get any benefit from it unless you do the exercises. Life Rewards Action.
Rating: Summary: This is the secret to success Review: This is the most realistic collection of rules for living a successful life that I have ever read. Dr. McGraw lays out a strategy for living that I think is a sure fire plan. I hope to follow every rule. It is already making a positive impact on my life.
