Summary: The key to the roseta stone
Review: I'm walking around with a grin on my face since discovering this book....I knew I 'got it' but now I know what to do with 'it'. Extraordinary invitation to ACT.

Summary: Provides a practical path to improving your life
Review: For most of us, our biggest struggle is to take some control of our lives, directing it the way we want to so that we can utilize our talents and pursue our primary interests to a greater degree. Many of us have doubts about whether we can really be successful in having enough control to live the life we really want. Philip McGraw shows us how to do that in this book. He describes what we are going through in ways that help us understand ourselves better. We see ourselves in the real-life experiences of others and we are able to better understand who we are and why we are not able to carve the road we seek. Everyone will find themselves in this book. Then, he shows us how to move beyond where we are, recognize the obstacles and deal with them. Most books of this type are inspiring but many don't provoke the actions that we need to take. McGraw's book is a roadmap. It is highly practical in suggesting ways to achieve personal and financial freedom. This book reminds me of "The 2000 Percent Solution," which provides a similar roadmap for business people. It was written by Donald Mitchell, Carol Coles and Robert Metz and serves as a practical path for dealing with people's natural inclination to prevent important progress from being made by stalling. The authors define the stall mindset and then the different types of stalls, such as tradition, disbelief, misconception, unattractiveness, communications, bureaucratic and proscrastination stalls. Then, they show how to overcome each of these stalls, citing numerous examples of actions by companies and people. A 2000 percent solution is 20 times better than a 100 percent solution. These two books together can make dramatic improvements in our personal and business lives.

Summary: A must read book, even if you think your life is on track.
Review: I almost began to bore you with a wordy diatribe but opted for short and sweet. Consider yourself lucky. This is a 'must read' because there literally is something in here for everyone.

-To those living in victim mode, you don't need more pity. You need to get the book for it will empower you to break those chains that bind.

-To those who choose to ignore the reality of their situation. You and only you have to live with the truth that haunts when you're facing your demons at night. Get the book for it will take you on a personal and private journey that will force you to ask the relevant questions.

-To those who, like me, thought everything was 'nice and dandy'. Well, it teaches you that we all need some working on and maybe, dandy isn't really where we're at, but a safe and comfortable hideout.

There isn't anyone I have spoken to that I have not recommended the book to or bought the book for. Hooray for someone having the ahem, grit to tell it like it is.

Summary: A Fair Book That Could Have Been Better (Without Oprah)
Review: An interesting book with suggestions on how one should be more self confrontive and responsible. The author is in love with Oprah, most likely she recommended the book. The inclusion of the same story about Oprah's one legal involvement throughout the book gave no additional strength to the subject and only felt that the author was name dropping and patronizing "Oprah".

Summary: All you need is this book...throw away the rest!!!
Review: I bought Phil McGraw's book after I saw him on OPRAH. Once I started reading I could not put it down. I am a great admirer of Anthony Robbins, but I'm afraid that he will have to relinguish his throne to Dr. Phil. Dr Phil if you are reading this commentary...Let me just say you are the greatest. I had friends who tried to tell me for years all of the life laws you indicate in your book..but I never listened. You really made me take a real hard look at myself. I can't walk down the street without seeing a situation that reminds me of any one of those 10 laws. God bless you and your wife and your two sons. Those boys are lucky to have a dad like you. This book belongs in every middle school and High school in this country. In fact I think you should train teachers to teach a course called LIFE STRATEGIES 101. I believe if that happens this country will start to see REAL change.

Summary: You've got the keys, now get behind the wheel of your life.
Review: Dr. Phil McGraw is like a football coach with a doctorate. He tells it like it is making you accountable and responsible for what does or doesn't happen in your life. He maps out ways to observe your behavior and find out what blocks your successes and what behaviors fuel them. It works plain and simple. Read it!

Summary: Understanding comes by doing the assignments.
Review: Dr. McGraw has assignments for each Life Strategy in the book. I have discovered how each of the strategies apply to my life by completing the assignments in the book. I recommend this book only to those who are willing to go beyond reading the book and complete all the assignments. That is when your life will begin to change.

Summary: Right on target, encourages you to aim.
Review: My wife and I traveled in the U.S., Mexico and Central America teaching the principles in this book. I think the first law, "You get it or you don't," sums the whole approach up.

I encourage everyone, even the "perfect" to read and then re-read this book. It sure can't hurt and if you pay real close attention, it just might make sense to you. If it does, you might be encouraged to do what is suggested.

Summary: SIMPLY THE BEST OF ITS KIND
Review: THIS BOOK IS THE BEST, MOST HELPFUL, CONCISE, WONDERFUL BOOK I HAVE EVER READ ON THIS SUBJECT. DR. PHIL GETS RIGHT TO THE POINT WITH KINDNESS, CLARITY AND SIMPLICITY. THERE IS NO PSYCHOBABBLE, NOR IS ANY NEEDED.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: The first 3/4's of the book is great
Review: The first 3/4's of the book is great. It is a clear, no-nonsense approach to life and I received much value out of it. I approached the remainder of the book with this same optimism, but found the assignments to be very time consuming and not as clear as the previous assignments. If the last 50 pages of the book had been expanded and the explanation of the assignments clearer I would give this 5 stars.
