Rating: Summary: A MUST read! Review: This is the best self help growth book I have ever read. Dr. McGraw's no nonsense approach to personal responsibility is refreshing and very much needed in the "victim" oriented world in which we live. The book is full of practical assignments to help get to the root of why we are not being as effective as we would like to be. I wish I could afford to buy a copy of this book for every person I know!
Rating: Summary: best book I ever read Review: This is not another Dr. trying to sell a book. He is honest and straight forward. If your not ready for the truth this book is not for you. Easy to understand, if you have seen Oprah, he writes like he speaks. If you want to understand why life is the way it is, and how to take control of your own life, READ THIS BOOK! I recommend this book, for EVERYONE! It's your life take responsibility for it.
Rating: Summary: This book can change your life Review: Dr. McGraw forces us to look deeply within ourselves to find the sources of our problems and behaviors. At times, this can be startling. This book can change your life if you are willing to accept responsibility for your decisions. Once I was willing to face my fears and suppress my ego, I was able to grow as a member of society. As a teacher, I have used much of the information contained in Dr. McGraw's book to motivate them towards better learning.
Rating: Summary: Pernicious new age nonsense - signifying plenty. Review: I am sure that new age "psychologist" McGraw is "getting it." Plenty of it. You can count it. Ain't it all grand?
Rating: Summary: Sure to enhance your life! Review: Life Strategies is a straight to the heart kind of book. The authors "get over it" attitude is exactly what most people need. The "tough love" approach to "getting it" awakens situations you may not even have realized existed. Dr. Phil McGraw is an expert in his field touching the lives of all in his path in a positive manner.
Rating: Summary: Better strategies are ahead for me Review: I'm half way through this delightful, plain speaking, life changing book and am so happy to recommend it to others. It has helped me see how to make my life work better in every way. Thank you Dr. McGraw!
Rating: Summary: Thanks Dr. Phil! Review: This book has been very helpful in my life and the way I look at each day! Its help me get more motivated and to get stuff done that needs to get done now and not tomarrow!
Rating: Summary: FEEL RIGHT Review: Incredible book. Phil tears through the "feel good" into the "feel right" of psychology. Very harsh at times, but worth it in the long run. AMAZING!
Rating: Summary: A complete waste of effort and money. Review: I've passed this book a few times while walking through our local Barnes and Nobles Bookstore and considered buying it. Being a true advocate of "making a difference," I wanted to extend my efforts. So I bought the audio book. Dr. McGraw often shows that he truly cares about his listeners, but is clearly reading a very long script...word by word. Every single tone and concern is carefully planned and I'm suprised that I didn't hear the pages turning as he spoke into the microphone. No passion. More of a 'caring thesis.' If you have ever heard Dr. Ken Blanchard speak to through an audio book, you'll know EXACTLY what I mean. Dr. McGraw's efforts are applauded, but the advice is geared for remarkably simple minds. One example of his advice is: "Some People 'Get It' and....some don't." That's it. Save your money or purchase a book that will make a difference. I'd recommend something by Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, or Zig Ziglar. People who wish to dabble into philosophy may consider the works of Mortimer Adler. Regardless, it is your money. Don't buy this program or book. Buy something that appeals to those beyond a fourth-grade reading level.
Rating: Summary: Effective, No Nonsense, Action Oriented Review: This is a book for people willing to take a hard look at what's not working in their life and determined to take action. If you're looking for a dreamy, philosophical, "picking lint out of your navel" approach, look elsewhere. McGraw favors results and action - not "who you are is who you are" fatalism. Don't look for a program where you're treated like a child and given step-by-step programs. You are the result, in large part, because of choices you have made in your life. Deal with it.
