Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: lucky candace is not responsible for the tv show Review: If you love the show, don't buy this book! It's good Candace gave the idea for the TV series but that's all. The book is very badly written, incoherent and not at all like the TV series. There are none of the characters that you find in the series and except for the first episode you won't find a lot of similarities. In short: a waste of time & money
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Brace Yourself If You're a Show Fan... Review: Usually the book is better than the movie--or in this case, TV show. I loved the show, so I thought I'd read the book. While you will recognize similarities in the characters and the plots, the characters in the novel (who are not exactly the same as the show) came off to me as even more superficial than their television counterparts. Even so, they are still sexy and trendy, and fun to read about, so you might not be TOO disappointed.

Review: Most women I know can't really relate to the pretentiousness of the women found between the pages of this book, but boy do they find them interesting! These "characters" are not so much entertaining as they are enthralling. Due to the scattershot scenes of romantic quandaries, the book lacks the sense of cohesion that more traditional fiction gives. However, thanks to the success of the TV show, following the misadventures of Carrie and her girlfriends is a labor of love for the already loyal SEX AND THE CITIzens. This is what Jackie Collins or Danielle Steele would be writing if they were trying to be ultra hip! A sensational representation of today's current state of romantic dysfunction.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good entertainment Review: After the great success of HBO's series "Sex and the City", I had decided to read the ultimate book that made the TV show a major Sunday must-see. Candace Bushnell, the author of this book has an excellent way of depicting the major characters, but it lacks organization. At first, the book was quite interesting, but after the few pages that I read, a brand new story would pop up all of a sudden, which completely mixed up my way of following the major story. Filled with a great amount of explicit words and heated scenes, Carrie Bradhow is the major character that everyone should be aware of. She is the one that makes the entire book passionate and exciting. Gossip and obsession about relationships are some of the main segments of this book where New Yorkers are presented as individuals that possess an amazing dating power. Women are depicted as influential at work and social life, while men are their ultimate goal. There are some sarcastic parts of this book such as the fact that Carrie and her friends never learn the lesson about men, which is that playing games with the opposite sex is a bad idea. I often wonder if the life in New York City elite is really like the one that Bushnell is representing in her book. After I talked to some real New Yorkers, I had come to a conclusion that parts of it are entirely true. Accordingly, this book had an interesting content if we eliminate its low level of organization.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: looking for sarah jessica parker? subscribe to HBO Review: im a huge fan of the hit HBO series, Sex and the City, so i decided between seasons i would read the book. big mistake! how someone turned these ghastly characters into something so addicting on television is beyond me. no one is as they seem. the loveable Skipper and Stanford Blatch characters are egotistical and unfriendly on these pages. Miranda in the book seems to have the Samantha persona from television. Charlotte also does a 180 from paper to tv by being very cynical and mirandaish. the book and the show are very different with a big flip flop of characters. leave this confusing mess where is lies on the shelves of your local bookstore.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Sex and the City Review: Well...let's just say this book isn't quite as good as the first book title 4 BLONDES. This book has no story to it what so ever, and is packed with five lined stories that don't go with eachother as well. There are way better SEX AND THE CITY BOOKS such as DATING GAME and the new one that comes out NOVEMBER 15 intitled KISS AND TELL. I would not recamend this book to anyone but if your a big fan...I'd say it's a must have~but you can be the judge of that!

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Why NOT to Read This Book Review: It is amazing that the spectacular HBO series "Sex and the City" was based on this book. Candace Bushnell really lucked out in getting her name associated with the series, because the book is NOTHING like the series! Sure, she mentions familiar character names, but Stanford is straight & good-looking in the book, for goodness sake! The book characters are inconsistent, mean, and worst of all, boring. I made it about two-thirds of the way through the book before I gave up. I'd suggest reading Bridget Jones' Diary instead if you want a good read about a single woman.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Vaguely Reminiscent of the Series, but still a good read. Review: You are a die-hard Sex and the City fan. You have seen every episode. You bid on the auctions on ebay. This book will disappoint you because expectations are so high. The book is excellent and sassy in it's own right, but once compared the series, it falls flat. That's because I think the content is much better portrayed on screen. This book is definately worth reading. The writing is crisp and flavorful and witty. You recognize many of the main characters and some of the early themes of the shows. But brace yrself. It is much different from the series. Be objective.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Curious since I love the show.... Review: The characters from the show are in here as minor players, but not close to how we recognize them from the show today. Still a fun enjoyable read!
