Rating: Summary: Maybe I'm missing something, but..... Review: I read this book and wondered where I might purchase some of the products. I went to to the Dr's. website which was listed in the back of the book. These products were so ridiculously priced that I felt totally ripped off for buying the book. A small bottle of just one item was ($$$), and that it just a small part of the "program." How would anyone be able to afford this type of treatment? My book went in the recycle bin this morning. Thanks, but no thanks.

Rating: Summary: Don't Trust the Nay Sayers - It Works! Review: Having seen Dr. Perricone on PBS and then read his book, I can attest to the fact that his program works! It is nothing less than a revolution, not only in skin care, but in reversing the aging process. It is a holistic approach, which includes not only topical applications, but more profound lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise. If you follow the advice, you can not help but see improvement. I notice that none of the people who dissed this book bothered to sign their reviews. I hesitate to call them "readers", since it's clear they never read this book. That's too bad, since they like everyone else, could benefit from the ideas Dr. Perricone has so clearly expounded. Thank you, Dr. Perricone, for having the courage to go public with your program, for the benefit of all mankind.
Rating: Summary: It absolutely works Review: I am tickled by the negative reviews. This man advises that if you follow his suggestions, you will have much more beautiful skin than you presently have. He did not promise to change an ugly duckling into a beautiful princess. For that, you would have to look to another book, or maybe to God. This method will NOT give you high cheek bones if you were not born with them!!! Come on people. That said. If one follows the instructions given regarding dietary changes and paying special attention to the food groups that are emphasize in one's diet, you will see the results. Drink plenty of water. Use the supplements suggested; use sun screen and exercise -- It works. Be consistent, be persistent, and give it some time - a little patience. My only gripe is that one might be intimidated into thinking that one must use Perricone's products, which are outrageously expensive. That is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. However, I have found that with a little research, many of the products he talks about are offered by other manufactures for a fraction of Perricone's price. So, for example, Vitamin C Ester, DMAE and Alpha Lipoic Acid can be bought at fairly reasonable prices, certainly more reasonable than those offered by Perricone. And guess what? You can find substitutes in some of the same outlets that carry Perricone's products. Further, there is no cost involved in cutting sugar out of your diet - and water is available in abundance to everyone. Just drink it. Exercise is cheep - go walk around the block a couple of time - or the park if you are near one. Meditate - enjoy your life and your joy will also be reflected in your skin. In all my years I never had had beautiful skin. I DO NOW - ask my friends who are all asking me how I did it. To some I try to explain - to the more skeptical ones I say, "read 'The Wrinkle Cure.'"
Rating: Summary: Waste of Money!! Review: Do not buy this book! It is more of an advertise to Perricone's products. This book emphasize too much on his products.
Rating: Summary: Yes, It Works! Review: Nicholas Perricone's advice on nutrition is excellent, but taking the three supplements, on which his theory is based, as daily vitamins takes the cure to another level -- rejuvenating the skin through internal medicine. Of course! Why did it take so long to figure this out? My local health food store carries two lines of skin cream based on Dr. Perricone's formula which he thankfully did not patent, adding to his credibility. But the amazing thing is that after three months of taking alphalipoic acid, DMAE and Esther C, I noticed that my body skin had taken on a new tone and glow. This is more than a face treatment, folks. It's a rather amazing whole-body approach to a more youthful appearance. Five stars from me. It's so refreshing to find something like this that actually works.
Rating: Summary: Science? No...it's just an infomercial. Review: The book read like a paperback infomercial for the N.V. Pericone line of products. He does try to add some credibility by including half-hearted lists of non-Perricone products that might each contain one or two of the multitude of ingredients he recommends. However, I remain skeptical because the quality of the "research" is extremely questionable -- too few subjects; no peer review; no randomized double-blind, placebo controlled studies; etc. His "scientific" graphs lacked clear labels or legends and were generally laughable. Perricone asserts his academic qualifications, but any man of science worth his salt would have had his studies published in a scientific/medical journal. It seems that Perricone has chosen to skip journal publication because he knew his studies would never stand up to scrutiny. Maybe it works or maybe it doesn't. It's impossible to tell from the flimsy research.
Rating: Summary: A FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH Review: Women flock to see him, stand in line to speak to him. Is Tom Cruise making a a rare public appearance? No. It is Dr. Nicholas Perricone, author of the best selling antidote to aging, The Wrinkle Cure. With sub heads such as "Four Weeks To A Fabulous Face" few can resist it. (Even though he suggests eating salmon twice a day). "Wrinkled, sagging skin is not the inevitable result of growing older," Dr. Perricone declares. "It's a disease, and you can fight it. You can look your best, feel your best, and enjoy beautiful skin and optimum health every day of your life, provided you start right now. And you don't need expensive, invasive plastic surgery to do it." That is his rallying cry. In a culture that worships youth and knows that beauty really is skin deep, millions have responded to his call. (Women and men alike). With a popular PBS program, also titled "The Wrinkle Cure," still showing, Dr. Perricone's credentials are impressive: a degree in Medicine from Michigan State University, an internship in Pediatrics at Yale University School of Medicine, and a residency in Dermatology at the Ford Medical Center. At the present time he is Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Yale Medical School. After two decades of study Dr. Perricone emphatically declares that "a high protein, low carbohydrate diet full of salmon, fresh blueberries, cantaloupe and spring water can help slow and even reverse the aging process." In other words the clock can be turned back. Other benefits Dr. Perricone attributes to his regime are feeling better, living longer, and improvement in memory and cognition. Is there an accompanying product line? Of course. Among his most sought after items are "Amine Complex Face Lift," a daily facial treatment geared to nourishing the skin, retaining moisture, and riding the skin of excess oil production; and "Evening Facial Emollient," a skin restorative that aids in cellular renewal while promoting an even skin tone and glow. But, first the book. Rich in case studies and diet tips The Wrinkle Cure is an easy read with charts and graphs clearly showing how to use the good doctor's program. His thesis is that very much like arthritis, Alzheimer's and other inflammatory disease, aging skin is a disease rather than a natural process. It is a disease rightly treated with appropriate nutrition, hydration, the correct supplements, topical nutrients and antioxidant. Bananas, mangos, potatoes and cereals become sugar in the body, thus speeding the aging process. On the other hand, he posits, deeply colored fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, broccoli, tomatoes, and leafy greens promote healthy skin. In closing Dr. Perricone states that he is "continuing my research into the powers of vitamin C, vitamin E, alpha lipoic acid, and alpha hydroxy acids, while constantly searching for even better solutions to the problems of aging skin.......Each triumph brings us one step closer to making the fantasy of eternal youth and beauty a realistic and obtainable goal." Is there youth in a bottle? Dr. Perricone's sales of over 8 million dollars last year would seem to indicate that many believe there is. But then, as has always been said - hope springs eternal. Do you suppose ol' father time can be given a run for his money? - Gail Cooke
Rating: Summary: A good start for understanding skin and skin care Review: I bought this book after having numerous people tell me that I need to start using eye cream before it's too late and the wrinkles appear. The book makes a lot of sense with respect to staying out of the sun and eating right. The recommended diet is similar to the Fat Flush Plan so I would recommend reading that book for more information about why you should eat the foods Dr. Perricone recommends. I wasn't so sure about the skincare products and visited the Nordstrom counter. After looking at my skin, the lady at the counter warned me that Dr. Perricone's products would be harsh on my skin and referred me to another line of products. I got samples for that line and it's worked pretty well for me. So I don't think Dr. Perricone's products are for everyone and you should request samples before pouring lots of money into it. And unless you're skin is in horrible shape, if you limit the sun exposure, eat better and use basic skincare products your skin will be in great shape.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: This book is worth every penny. Dr. Perricone's information is based on research and this book is a holistic approach to skin care. It includees information regarding diet, lifestyle, vitamins, and skin care. It will help you to heal your skin and reverse ageing. This book contains more than common sense. I am very grateful that Dr. Perricone published this book. Although I already followed his diet recommendations for the most part and noticed changes in my skin, the other information in this book really made a difference. I did not purchase his skin care products (expensive in my opinion), but found a cream on the internet with the ingredients he recommends. I added specific vitamins and started the skin care program. I am almost 40 and the lines under my eyes were getting deeper. I had large pores and my skin looked dull. I also had scars from adult acne. I noticed changes after two days. After 6 weeks on the programs, my skin has healed, my acne is gone, and my skin has a smooth and tight appearance, my pores have almost completely closed. My skin looks so good that I do not wear make-up anymore. Buy this book!
