Summary: How You Can Control Your Destiny
Review: This book shows you how you really can take control of your SP to positively change the course of your life. This is no "pie in the sky" psychobabble. Dr. Dayhoff gives you the research, explains what it means, and assists you in applying it. Even though she has done an incredible amount of research (21 pages of citations), the book is written simply, directly, and engagingly - liberally peppered with humor. Once you pick up the book, it is hard to put it down because you find yourself nodding in agreement and saying, "that's me!" This is a rare find.

Summary: Loaded with valuable insights
Review: When it comes to social phobia this author has been there and done that. She really knows the score. But this book doesn't talk only about the doctor's personal suffering. On the contrary it talks about all aspects of social phobia fully. While some of it is technical it is always reader friendly and often humorous with right-on cartoons and other illustrations. It has essential topics you would never expect to see like dating, sex, work, therapists, and online issues and guides you through them. The book is jampacked with valuable insights, useful facts, suggestions, exercises, locations of resources, and encouragement. I'm excited I have found a savvy friend and mentor in this book.

Summary: Solution-oriented
Review: I like everything about this book from its educational content and supportive approach to its humor. But what I especially like is how it focuses on coping with the vast array of SP problems. It doesn't just give us a series of principles and general guidelines then set us free to try to apply them. Instead, after it supplies the principles and guidelines, it targets the specific, fundamental problems SPs face every day and guides us as we work through each of them. This way we discover and develop solutions that really work for us.

Summary: Social phobics bible
Review: This book has "absolutely" everything for recovery! It is motivating and inspiring. It tells you things your therapist can't because the author has suffered through social phobia too and knows exactly what it is like and what it means to you. Seeing your own social phobia through the eyes of the psychologist-author is illuminating and enlightening and gives you perspectives you really can't get any other way. This is the path to finally having a real life. This is salvation.

Summary: Powerful book for social phobia
Review: This book is so exciting and unlike anything else I have read. So many other books claim to understand social phobia but don't really. They are all so superficial in what they say and have you do. This book understands the core of your being and helps you from the inside out then it continues to help you with everyday life problems...

Summary: Shows a world of possibilities
Review: I really like the relationship the author creates with the reader. It's very private, personal, and helping. I also like how the author guides you and shows you that SA/SP is not the end but the beginning. Until I read this book, I was thinking seriously about packing it in because of the pain my SAD causes me. Now I see that I do not have to do that to get relief. There are possibilities - seemingly limitless possibilities - available to me to recover and achieve some happiness. This realization alone makes this book a gem.

Summary: Taps your potential
Review: This book evokes my emotion, gives me an identity, and compels me to respond to my SP. It develops my thought and opens up a world of possibilities.

Summary: Super! Personal and comprehensive
Review: If you have ever wondered what being allergic to people is all about, how biochemistry, genetics, evolution, childhood upbringing, conditioning, stress and trauma contribute, you must read this book. It says it all! If you want to find all the ways you can significantly improve the areas of your life which have been messed up by social anxiety, you must read this book. I have. It has it all!

Summary: Excellent
Review: If you're one of the vast majority of social phobics who are suffering in silence and thoroughly convinced there is no relief in sight, don't just buy this excellent book - live with it! Dr. Dayhoff knows what she is talking about.
