Rating: Summary: A Must for Serious Students of A COURSE IN MIRACLES Review: This book will be of intense interest to anyone who is a serious student of the Course, as I have been for the past 20 years. It provides refreshing confirmation of the unique value of the Course (in my opinion, the most important book ever published) and of the authentic credentials of its greatest teacher alive today, Dr. Kenneth Wapnick (who has himself written over 20 books on the Course). It's also highly readable. The author's ability to present profound and life-changing ideas in clear, simple and appealing narrative style is to be commended. If you love the Course, you are bound to love this book! HUGH MAGEE
Rating: Summary: A Great Spiritual Book Review: This book, in which two ascended masters appear to Gary R. Renard and claim to have lived as disciples at the time of the historical Jesus, is not only interesting and plausible, but also has a ring of historical truth to it. For example, these masters are very clear and knowledgable about their Jewish heritage and in fact, there was no such thing as Christianity at the time of the historical Jesus. The religion that most people equate with Jesus was mostly made up over the next several hundred years. But Jesus was original, and Renard's teachers make a strong case that he was not teaching traditional Judaism either. The transition that is made from a discussion of the history of major spiritualities (which is done, by the way, with excellent humor) into a detailed explanation of the modern spiritual guide, A Course in Miracles, turns into as good a metaphysical presentation as I've ever seen. Yet it also gets down to the practical level and tells you how to use the Course's style of advanced forgiveness for the rest of your life. Brilliant - but fun!
Rating: Summary: Enthralling, Amazing & Eye Opening!!! Review: This is one hell of a great metaphysical summary of A Course In Miracles. The thing I never totally realized about the Course is that it truly is a purely non-dualistic teaching. Non-dualism makes so much logical sense. I would get glimses of non-dualism when I read the Course but this book really lays it out in such a way as to make the principle clear and easy to understand. The basic concept is that the world we see around us with the bodies eyes is really just an illusion, a dream or a virtual reality environment. Reality is "behind" this dream, untouched and perfect. Our true reality has never changed and never will. This abstract, peaceful, loving reality is the "stuff" or "essence" of WHO WE ARE. The author goes on to explain all kinds of amazing things like how this world of illusions was created, what our purpose in life is, how we can get out of the illusion, what reincarnation really is, what time and space are and many more eye opening revelations. The amazing thing about the book is that it explains all of these seemingly difficult topics with such ease and humor (I laughed out loud so many times). I honestly could not put this book down and read it every spare moment I had. Thanks Gary for opening my mind up to true non-dualism!!!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic - Mind Blowing! Review: This is probably the best book I have ever read. And it is making me go broke because I keep buying more copies for relatives and friends! I am also recommending it to everyone. You will need Jesus' A Course In Miracles to make it complete if you ever wish to stop the endless revolving door of reincarnation. The principles in the book are so simple and yet can be so difficult. It is easy to say "I forgive you" but to really mean it all the time is an accomplishment. You will learn how to do it and how to do it every day of your life. I have never been more thankful to an author than I am to Gary. If you don't already have the book - you might as well go ahead and get it now because eventually you WILL get this book - if not in this lifetime, than in another. Blessings To You, Gary, and Many Thanks -
Rating: Summary: Absolutely A Five Star Book Review: This is the story of how Gary Renard, author of "The Disappearance of the Universe", became a student of A Course in Miracles. What makes Gary's experience fascinating is the identity of his two teachers, the manner in which he first met them, and his openness to them. But the book is really about much more than just Gary and his experiences. As a long-time Course in Miracles student (since 1982) I am impressed with how the book remains absolutely true to ACIM principles and teachings. They are presented in fresh new ways, in an earthy style that corresponds with Gary's personality. Gary is Everyman in this book, asking all the best questions we could ever think of asking. He makes astute and often funny comments. The teachings themselves found a joyous, new life in me as I turned the pages. Meanings became clearer. I saw connections and generalizations where previously I had not. It is fun (and a little terrifying) to consider the miscreation of the universe and how the "big bang" occurred in thought! "The entire tempest in a teacup you call the universe is about to be miscreated by just a few decisions on your part. The eventual result will be an alleged you who is now totally unaware of the real power that is available to you and instead, is virtually mindless and seemingly stuck in a body." Fortunately we can get back home to our real selves through the process of true forgiveness. This process is simple but not the dualistic kind of "forgiveness" we always thought we knew. We need to practice true forgiveness, as outlined in this book (and in ACIM), until it becomes second nature to us. For me, this is absolutely a five star book.
Rating: Summary: I would give it 10 stars but the system wouldn't let me Review: You see before you the key to the solution for all the problems of the world you have ever encountered. Pretty tall order you say! Not really. If there is no world, there are no problems! Well, I don't want to get into any more metaphysics in a book review, but this book has helped me change my mind about my whole thought system. It is an incredibly readable, easy to understand, exciting new expression of the love and forgiveness Jesus taught 2000 years ago. It takes us back to the real deal and out of the sometimes stultifying rigidity of formal church-like moral codes; back to the free, spontaneous expression of love for our fellow traveling companions in this universe and away from our tiny, nuclear cubicles of existence. I love it. You'll love it. You'll buy it for all your friends and relatives because you will be unable to lend out your own copy. Enjoy!
