Rating: Summary: A very interesting account of very unusual encounters Review: THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE UNIVERSE is an interesting account of conversations between author Gary R. Renard and two ascended masters named Pursah and Arten. The two masters instruct Mr. Renard in everything from religion, economics, and politics, and lead him to the three-volume set of books on spiritual psychotherapy called A COURSE IN MIRACLES. THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE UNIVERSE inspired me by re-acquainting me with the beauty of the language and teachings of A COURSE IN MIRACLES. And it was very refreshing to read a book based on Course theory that does not dilute its strict non-dual framework. Andrew Parodi
Rating: Summary: Discusses the COURSE with humor, insight, and understanding. Review: THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE UNIVERSE is one of those rare gems that successfully fulfills a dual role, that of being a wonderful introduction for new students into the principles and teachings of A COURSE IN MIRACLES, while at the same time providing inspiration and new insights for the experienced Course practitioner. And all of this comes with a healthy dose of irreverent humor and witty dialogue, blending it all together into a conversationally readable yet authoritative work. As a COURSE student for over ten years, I've heard many folks say that the Course - particularly much of the Text itself - can be a bit difficult for some to get through, the information being quite deep, often subtle, and in many cases even startling! (No one said the path to Enlightenment would be easy...) One of the great qualities of DISAPPEARANCE is it's conversational presentation; a series of down-to-earth dialogues between the author and his Teachers. The basic principles of the Course (and metaphysical spirituality in general) are discussed and clarified in ways that even the most uninitiated will find easily understandable, and consistently interesting and enjoyable to read. For the more advanced Course student - or even for anyone with a background in metaphysics and spirituality - DISAPPEARANCE covers material that opens up new insights into the nature of the illusory universe, and brings a deeper focus into our understanding of the principles the Course teaches. The very nature of "advanced forgiveness" is one of the book's central themes, and this concept and the need for practicing it regularly - while certainly covered completely within the Course itself - is brought to new emphasis very effectively within the pages of DISAPPEARANCE. The very fact of this book being somewhat of a "grass roots" phenomenon - with no big "PR" machine behind it, simply thousands of readers finding it so valuable and enjoyable, and sharing the news with others - speaks eloquently of how well the truth resonates when it is heard. (It's interesting to note that among all these customer reviews, there is only ONE negative: apparently from someone with their own personal agenda, as well as directly misrepresented facts. That person's accusation of "factual errors such as sunspots being hot spots" is blatantly false; in DISAPPEARANCE - on page 196 - during a discussion of outer-spacial phenomena, sunspots are referred to as "less hot places on the sun's surface". Perhaps it's a case of trying to have something for everyone; and some people want something to complain about.... even if they have to invent it.) Ultimately, as with any book of this nature, its success will rise or fall with how well it informs, enlightens, entertains, and connects with its readers. From the amazing results so far, and from the continuing expansion of its reader base even as we speak, it appears that THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE UNIVERSE is succeeding magnificently on all counts. Students of A COURSE IN MIRACLES, metaphysicians, spiritual seekers, and new Pilgrims on the Path should all make room on their bookshelves for a copy of DISAPPEARANCE.

Rating: Summary: The disappearance of the Universe Review: The most interesting, refreshing book I have read. Funny, radical, touching. I can not put the book down. I am now reading it once more. Finally I found what I have been looking for. Nothing made sense, now everything make sense. There is a way out!
Rating: Summary: ARE YOU READY TO WAKE UP? Review: This book helps to answer the most important question there is, which is the question: "WHO AM I?"
You may have an idea, but are you a body? Are you a mind? Are you the thinker of your thoughts? Are you the feeler of your feelings? Temporarily yes, but what if you are something more? What if the experiential realization that you ARE something more could give you permanent peace and bliss beyond your imagination?
The foundation for this book is that non-duality is the necessary form of consciousness to experience the answer to the queation of "Who am I?" DON'T WORRY, THE CONCEPT OF DUALITY VS. NON-DUALITY IS CLEARLY EXPLAINED WITHIN THE BOOK. The question above cannot be truly answered in words, but only in experience. Yet this book is a great way to learn to experience the Truth of who we are, and it is quite common to be filled with JOY AND LAUGHTER WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE START OF READING THIS MASTERPIECE.
We live in a dualistic universe, which is created by the ego's dream of separation from God. In this universe everything has an opposite. We have good and bad; right and wrong; hot and cold; ying and yang; no pleasure without pain. In this universe, which is nothing but the ego's dream, all opposites are based on judgment, poor judgment. Even in ancient times, Socrates knew that the only thing that he knew was that he didn't know anything. But Socrates never new how to forgive like this book teaches!
With simplicity, this book explains the metaphysical structure of both the universe of duality and non-duality. With this book's explicit detail, the universe of duality is realized to be but a dream. We are dreaming right now. Is it so hard to believe? Are you sure you would know if you are dreaming?
Now the setting for this book has recurring conversations between the author, Gary, and two ascended masters, Arten and Pursah. It seems pretty crazy, right? However, this presentation style makes it extremely interesting, whether you believe it happened or not. Gary is a down to earth guy, and people find him easy to relate to. Thus, the reader is able to learn by watching Gary progress down one of many universal spiritual paths.
After reading this book carefully, most people will at least admit the possibility that Gary really was visited by ascended masters. Yes it is that IMPRESSIVE.
Perhaps the wisdom within the book IS beyond this dualistic universe, wouldn't it be great to get your hands on it?
This book changed my life. I feel lighter, more joyful, and more peaceful. Now, it is so much easier to be kind and loving. The book shows how it is possible to love people without effort. All of this has occured because I chose to practice the UNIQUE style of forgiveness that is taught within the book. 99.999% of this world hasn't even heard of this type of forgiveness.
The practice of this book's concept of forgiveness breaks the habit of judgment, and without judgment, duality begins to disappear. Thus, the a new universe based on the concept of ONENESS reappears. We are united with our brothers and sisters, and truly realize that God was with us all along.
ENJOY!
Rating: Summary: Can't get any straighter than this. Review: This book is a clincher for people like me who have spent a lifetime searching for answers. People who question the validity of the world's thinking and its seeming reality; people who resonated deeply when they read the words of the Master and wondered why the Book that was supposed to be about Him didn't quite agree with what He was teaching and practicing; people who aren't afraid to consider new possibilities and another way of seeing; people who thirst for closeness to God and who will have nothing but; people who aren't intimidated by a fire-and-brimstone belief system; people who have no self-serving agendas; people who love people and ache to heal the suffering they still perceive in the world; people who deep down inside have heard the voice that says: "There is another way." Thank you Gary R. Renard. It takes courage to tell the world your truth, inspite of the possibility of crucifixion. Eternally grateful.
Rating: Summary: The Cutting Edge Review: This book is the cutting edge of spirituality. It presents the best spiritual information of our time. I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. You get used to the style quickly and soon feel as though you're participating in the conversations between the author and two ascended masters he claims visited him in person (aka Saint Thomas and Saint Thaddaeus.) The reason this book works is because it's so complete in its presentation it really kind of blows the other books away. Not to be missed.
Rating: Summary: extension of ACIM Review: This book narrated to Gary Renard by two "ascended masters" extends ACIM in some useful ways 1) It discusses reincarnation, which is not greatly discussed except in one page in ACIM 2) It emphasises the power of the mind and the holographic nature of the universe 3) Twp chapters on prayer and healing the sick are especially useful extensions 4) with respect to healing the point is made that the only requirement of "the healer" is to practice forgiveness. It is the mind of "the patient" that is sick, the body being simply the Earthly reflection
Rating: Summary: A must read for open minded thinkers. Review: This book represents one of the best works and companion book to "A Course in Miracles". Gary's own experiences combined with the teachings of his mentors brought me back "on course" with a fervor and desire to continue and grow as never before. As a pilot I particularly found the comments about being "constantly off course from the time of takeoff to our arrival safely at our destination" as a "series of small corrections" to be a brilliant reminder of how we eventually find our way Home. DU is an excellent and time saving introduction to "A Course In Miracles" for the new reader and a wonderful tool for the ongoing ACIM student/teacher that cuts to the purpose and essence of the Course with surgical accuracy. I sincerely believe the future will depict Gary as one of the most understandable, respected, and committed Teachers of ACIM, and likely compared to Ken Wapnick in ACIM understanding. Both books are an excellent investment in ones spiritual growth, and clearly a flight plan for the trip Home.
