Rating: Summary: Throw out all the rest of your pregnancy books! Review: A dear friend of mine gave me this calendar/book when she first learned of my pregnancy, and I cannot tell you how special this book is...I read and re-read this book throughout my entire pregnancy...while I was on the treadmill, on a plane, at night before I went to sleep, and to my husband as we anxiously counted the moments before our beautiful baby entered our lives! This book is the most wonderful book you can read during your pregnancy.
Rating: Summary: Great pregnancy gift Review: I bought this book with both pregnancies, and order/ship it to every pregnant person I know. Not only is it imformative but it's fun to read it years later and see what you were feeling. How soon we forget....
Rating: Summary: Great buy! Review: My husband bought this journal for me when we found out we were expecting (based on the reviews written below). It was such a wonderful gift. We read it every night together. It provides such interesting information about what is happening on a daily basis with the baby and with the mother's body. It also talks about foods the mother should try to include in her diet as well as interesting tid-bits about childbirth in other cultures (then and now). I enjoy the fact that it allows space for the parents to write down thoughts as well as space for the mother to write about her mood, appetite, weight, waist size - it will be fun to look back and read. This journal is a must-buy for busy parents who enjoy learning about the daily progress of their baby but do not have time for lengthy journals or wordy books.
Rating: Summary: The best of the pregnancy books Review: Of all the pregnancy books my wife and I found this one to be by far the best. It was exciting to see day by day how our baby was developing. We know you will enjoy it!
Rating: Summary: Fun and fascinating pregnancy info Review: Unlike all the books that tell you every bad thing that can happen when you're pregnant. This journal has fun and fascinating facts- nothing scary that i remember. I've given it as gifts to my pregnant friends. There's plenty of space for thoughts and reflections - I love it and plan to keep one for each pregnancy I'm blessed with.
Rating: Summary: Very informative!! Review: I bought this book when I found out I was pregnant, because I wanted to know on a daily basis what was happening with the baby growing inside me. I didn't want a monthly, or even weekly breakdown. This day-to-day guide is absolutely wonderful and adorable to look at! I like that it has what's happening with the baby each day and a little tidbit for the mother everyday, too. It tells you what may be happening with your body on a daily basis and just gives you some insight each day. It's a fantastic book! There are also spaces on several pages to write how you're feeling that day, how your energy level is, and a lot more. It's based on your due date, so you fill in the blanks with the dates corresponding to your due date. I'd recommend this book highly for anyone who has become pregnant and wants a day by day breakdown of what's going on inside their body.
Rating: Summary: Just what the nurse practitioner ordered! Review: If you're like me and are a detail-obsessed mom-to-be, this book is for you!I personally found it very helpful to have a book that chronicled a pregnancy beginning from the day of conception (since I know I conceived on one of only three days last August, I did not find it that difficult to guess which day I did; if I'm off, it's only by a couple of days). I am the daughter of a former maternity ward nurse and want to know as much as possible; it helps me feel closer to the little being growing inside me! I like the small daily bites of information -- for mom and for baby -- and enjoy flipping back through past entries made on the pages a couple of months ago. I thoroughly enjoy the "Childbirth in Other Cultures" sections as well as the quotes. Makes you realize how, in a way, we're all in this together! My only criticism of this book would be that I would like even more information: i.e. an "Is this normal?" section, or possibly some illustrations of the growing fetus and/or the mother's developing belly. Also, like a previous poster said, the book spine comes undone fairly easily and I had to reattach the back cover of my book just the other day. All in all though, I'm glad this book is around and prefer this format over the weekly or monthly format of some other books!
Rating: Summary: Very good information! Review: This is a great book to buy for yourself or to give to a pregnant friend. I actually got two of them from two separate friends. It gives day by day positive looks on how your baby is growing and what you should be doing to make your pregnancy the best one that it can be. They give helpful food advice and what childbirth is like in other cultures... My only complaint is the weeks are off because they count from conception not from your last period. So your weeks differ from your doctor's. Other then that, this is a great book and good guide for the first time mother...
Rating: Summary: Confusing dates!!! Review: Even with all of the work in properly dating my own journal, the dates still didn't match (fetus age OR pregnancy age) with the dates of ultrasound and/or 10 computer program journals. Had I not written in it, I would have returned it.
Rating: Summary: A joy to read and fill out Review: My husband and I enjoy reading the day by day sections every night. I love the fact that I don't have to write long journal entries...I just don't have time and would have fallen behind if I had to write for every day. Other reviews have said the different way of counting weeks is confusing...No it's not! Its explained at the beginning of the book! This is a great book for a busy mom-to-be!
