Summary: Somersizing works! It really works!
Review: Ever the skeptic, I decided to try the diet after a friend lost 15 lbs. in 6 weeks and I am simply ecstatic! After one week on the program I have dropped 6 pounds! I have wanted to take off extra weight and tried all sorts of diets and always got discouraged, feeling hungry, cranky and then eating the same way again would regain plus a few pounds. I can't believe I can eat all this food and feel so satisfied and lose weight, but it is TRUE! Hooray for Somersizing! Now I will try the video. Pkhnd

Summary: "Kan't" wait to get started in Kentucky!!!
Review: I have had this book for 6 months now and just haven't really done anything with it. I adore Suzanne so much and I guess I have just been lazy. After reading the first 20 reviews, I have made up my mind that today is the day I start. I wish Suzanne would come out with more recipes or meal plans, or maybe even frozen, easy to fix entrees!! I also have her video that goes with her book and she has great points on it and the exercise is great. Thank you Suzanne. Keep up the great work and helping so many people.

Summary: After 2 years I finally lost that baby weight!!
Review: Two years after having my daughter I was still carrying 10 extra pounds. I began Somersizing in October of 1998 and by the beginning of December I had lost 15 lbs!! I weigh less now than I did before I had the baby! It is not a diet for me, it is a lifestyle change. It has amazed me what cutting out most sugar and eating the carbs separately can do. I am maintaining my weight now and loving life. If you follow Level 1 and exercise, the weight will literally melt away. Try it and you will be amazed!

Summary: Well balanced, easy strategies for successfull weight loss
Review: This method of developing lifetime good eating habits is pnenominal. Suzanne presents herself very well. Tells you a bit about her own personal battle with weight. This book is a must for those people who have struggled for years with little success. Especially if you simply think that the reason you can't lose weight is because your metabolism is shot. You can re-awaken your body into a quick-start mode and have great success doing it. I am 5'7 and lost 14 lbs going from a size 10 to a size 6. Weight is nice but losing those inches is even greater. My husband dropped 10 pounds and is still taking in belt notches. His cholesteral dropped 21 pts and his tryglicerides dropped 50 pts. My sister (who I am the proudest of) has lost 30 lbs so far and is near the halfway mark toward her goal. My parents--after watching two of their three kids get it together--started Sommersizing last week. Mom lost 2# and dad lost 3# the first week. We all feel great. I believe there is no better way to maintain weight and eat as wonderfully as this. It is not hard. Do yourself a great big favor and put this book to the test for a week. And don't forget a have a square or two of chocolate along the way!!

Summary: Convenience Schmenience!
Review: As a single mother, with a busy child, a full-time job, a house, and all the stress of life, I thought this book wouldn't work for me. I don't have time to cook but about once a week, and I admit it, I take my kid to burger joints two or three times a week for the convenience, and we eat lots of pasta because it's quick to fix. But you know, a little applied logic, and it's really very simple to do this!

How is a hamburger convenient, anyway? Well, if it's convenient to buy the burger, why isn't it convenient to buy the salad instead? If you can't stomach the thought of no bun with the meat, how about eating only half the bun? And just because it's 'fast food' doesn't mean you have to eat it fast.

I still eat a hamburger once in awhile, but it's more like once a month - and I spread it out on a plate, eat the meat and tomatoes and lettuce and stuff, then if I'm still hungry (I find I'm usually not), I might nibble at the bread. Or I opt for the salads - every place sells them, they aren't any more expensive than the burgers, and they taste a lot better! In a sandwich shop, I buy the hot veggies on pita, with spicy mustard and salt and pepper, and it's great! I've got my daughter eating more vegetables, I don't have that gastric backup in my belly anymore, so... who misses hamburgers? Not me.

And the neat part of it is, my cellulite is disappearing.

I do wish Suzanne had said a little more about vegetarian meals, my daughter has taken a liking to tofu, lately - and so have I. Maybe in her next book, she'll expand her recipes a bit?!

People who are looking for a quick-fix diet are not thinking very clearly. There's such things as anorexia and bulimia and all kinds of eating disorders because people are obsessed with quickly dropping weight, and many of them, after dropping the weight, go back to the old habits with a vengeance. Not good. I've rubber-banded back and forth for years, and all the excuses in the world that 'my metabolism slowed down as I got older' aren't realistic - the truth is, if I hadn't screwed up my digestion by starving and gorging, and eating unhealthy foods, I wouldn't have had half the trouble I've had in the last 10 years.

This book talks about re-assessing your health, re-evaluating the way you eat, changing for LIFE. I see no problem eating this way until I'm old and gray.

Summary: This is in fact the Montignac diet and it works
Review: I bought Suzan Somers ' book in addition to the Montignac book I have (in Dutch) to have more recipes available. I lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks; at the moment I am not losing weight but inches are melting away (by eating large amounts of food in the proper combination). Some reviewers mentioned that they didn't have time to cook; well, I work 12 hours a day and manage to cook or get a salad plus vinegar and oil complemented with cold cuts or cheese in the company cafetaria. When shopping you do have to read the labels for most American food has sugar or cornsyrup. Fructose is a good alternative for sugar if you really want something sweet once in a while.

Summary: This book is great & it really works!
Review: My husband & i have lost over 30 lbs on your diet. My only concern is the time it takes to prepare the meals when we both work. My suggestion to Suzanne Sommers is, why don't you package your meals in ready to eat containers for us working people? Sort of like lean cuisine?

Summary: !!The greatest diet i ever tried!!!
Review: A friend of mine went on this diet, and he gave it to me to try. I have been heavy all my life. I just turned 54. I started the diet on July 9, 1998 and weighed 281 pounds. As of December 31,1998, I now weigh 215 pounds. I have taked 10 inches off my waist and two inches off my neck size. I went from a size 52 jacket to a size 46. At first I thought the diet would be difficult. I have stuck to this diet, without cheating. I did so well on the diet that i have about 15 friends that are now using the diet. my goal is to get down to 200 pounds. I also feel that this book illistrates an easy way and with recipes, that really work. I would just like to thank you very much for putting together this book. I just hope that anybody with a weight problem would give this a try.
