Rating: Summary: great way to live! Review: I haven't felt this great about eating food in years! Finally I eat when I am hungry and all my snack and sugar cravings are gone. I have been on this diet for two months and I have never been happier. I am fitting into jeans that have been shoved back in the closet for years. So give it a try and I think you will really like it. The only people I have come across who don't seem to like it are those people who haven't read the book or tried the diet. There are alot of nah sayers in the world, so when you go on this diet and you start to feel and look fabulous be prepared for the verbal, jealous attacks from angry coworkers and family members. They can't watch you become slim eating chicken wings and bacon and be happy about it! I talk from personal experience! :-) But the best revenge is being happy and looking good. And remember this advice - as coworkers start to throw you angry glares while they eat their sticks of celery for lunch, give them a huge smile and a chicken wing salute.Regards, Cathy
Rating: Summary: Makes sense, but----expensive and time-consuming! Review: I enjoyed the book very much and am going to try to change my eating habits along these lines. I have gained and lost about 500 pounds in my 54 years, and it is time to stop this viscious cycle. However, I am a working single woman who eats lots of meals in my car! So many of the items Suzanne recommends are expensive, and there is lots of preparation time. I will try to adapt, but I wish Suzanne had more hints for easier, cheaper meals.
Rating: Summary: This really works! Review: I have tried everything to lose those last 15 pounds and keep them off. I have only been on the diet for 4 days but in that time I have lost 3 pounds and I have never felt better. My digestion is not nearly so painful and I haven't felt bloated at all. If you don't like salad, though, forget this book.
Rating: Summary: What is the difference Review: what is the difference between this diet and the atkins and protein power and the carb addict?
Rating: Summary: anorexia Review: I honestly have to say that I have not read this book, and I really don't know much about it. However, I have a friend who is on the diet, and it is all she talks about...how much weight she has lost. I realize that she is proud of it, but at our age (14), I don't really think that our weight is what we should be worrying about. I was diagnosed with anorexia when I was 13 and have been fighting it for 6 months. It has completely changed my life, and now I face the possibility of not ever growing taller than five feet and never being able to have children just because I wanted to be skinny (like Suzanne Sommers). I mean, the world practically worships skinny people. Fighting the voices in my head that say I am a fat b**** is hard enough, without having to face the pressure of seeing and having friends who read books like this. Anyway, I just wanted to say that everyone should be aware that this book can have some seriously negative effects on teenage girls.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED IT!!!!! Review: This was the best book I have ever read. It is so easy to follow and doesn't even feel like you are on a diet. I can eat sandwiches, just without the bread, which you don't miss anyway. Do you ever eat a sandwich and say "Wow, this is such good bread?" No! I have lost nine pounds so far and have been following it for two weeks. I love it, you don't feel deprived at all. I've tried so many other diets, like the low-fat one. Who likes fat-free salad dressing, or baked potatoes with salsa? I don't. If you buy any weight loss book, this is the one to buy.
Rating: Summary: A liveable diet plan! Review: I chose this book after trying the Atkin's Diet and Dr. Ornish's Diet which were both too restrictive for my eating habits. After seeing Suzanne on Regis + Kathie Lee preparing some recipes, it peaked my attention. The book was very easy and interesting to read. The recipes reflect the foods that I like to eat and seem easy to prepare. My sister, Nellie and I are excited to start Somersizing tommorow morning!!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Great! Both her books are never far from me. Review: I have read both of Suzanne Somer's books: Eat Great Lose Weight and Get Skinny on Fabulous Food. Both books are always on my kitchen counter ready for me to skim through for another fabulous recipe. I have suffered from migraine headaches for years and learning how to combine the right foods have made my headaches disappear.
Rating: Summary: It is well worth the try Review: I am not a heavy person to begin with, But I like to be at a certain weight, I have used the Atkins diet and had sucess. I run and workout alot. I have lost 4 lbs in two weeks All I have to lose is another 4 lbs to reach my goal weight and it is harder to lose when you are so close I guess. My sisters are on the diet and so is my niece and everyone has lost over 10 lbs. Your Cravings stop after about 2-3 days and you really do not even want to cheat. My husband is on it now 5 days and has lost 4 lbs. It really works sometimes I guess depending on your body type you lose it slower. If you only have a couple pounds to lose it is a slower process but I am going to wait it out it it did take suzanne two months to get to her goal and her goal is the same as mine 116 lbs I am at 119. But everyone else who has tried has lost weight.
Rating: Summary: Simple, easy; it makes sense! Review: Finally, a way to eat, lose weight, and feel great! After years of ups and downs, and lately really down in the dumps with frustration, I feel this makes sense! Suzanne wrote a so-called diet book that is fun to read, easy recipes (delicious, too!) and it was also heartwarming. Many diet books are dry and boring. She made it quirky while also making you think about what we have been doing to our body with all this sugar, etc. After two days of being on this reconditioning (I hate the word "diet"), I felt 100% better. While I would love to sink my teeth into a chocolate bar (as I am an avid chocoholic), my cravings for the carbos are gone. I pop some grapes into my mouth at night and not only does it fill me up it solves the "sweet tooth" craving. I've been on it for 1 1/2 weeks and I've lost about 6 lbs. already. You are not depriving yourself (such as Atkins---which I did and could not stick to). I'm eating more fruits and veggies than I ever did before and I'm probably giving myself a healthier heart in the process. Try it. You'll like it!
