Rating: Summary: A real role model Review: I used this book with another, The Secrets of Staying Young that gave me info on an herb that keeps Russians alive to 120. Between Ms.Somers energetic program and the additional nutritional support I found in Secrets, I hope to look like her when I'm 120.
Rating: Summary: Support for Insulin-Conscious Eating Review: I read "Eat Great, Lose Weight" while preparing my own book ("The Gourmet Prescription: High Flavor Recipes for Lower Carbohydrate Diets") for publication. Suzanne Somers has done everyone a great service by calling attention to the importance of insulin control. As a physician and supporter of insulin-modulating diets, I'm grateful for her help in addressing our epidemics of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular. As the author of a lower carbohydrate gourmet cookbook, I can tell you that her recipes are the most appealing ones I've seen other than my own!
Rating: Summary: I don't know how, but it IS working for me.. Review: I started Somersizing on May 22, 1999. Today I visited my doctor, and after 3 1/2 months on this plan, I have lost 27 pounds. I eat some fruit each day, and have carbos for breakfast or lunch at least 5 times a week. Trying to lose weight is not fun or easy, but this plan is satisfying if you like to eat larger portions of really good FLAVORFUL food. I am thrilled at my success; I'm looking forward to losing another 35 pounds before going on to Level II. I was told by my doctor that I could use Level II for life without any ill effects.
Rating: Summary: GREAT, GREAT, GREAT! Review: I started with the Atkins Diet. I hated the fact that you couldn't eat that many carbos, veggies and fruits. Three months ago I was 162lbs and I now weigh 138lbs! I have been exercising, and watching what I eat. I am able to wear my size 4 and 6 clothing and I feel great! It is nice to now that when you eat the right things you can indulge from time to time in moderation! (I drink tea in the morning with a bit of honey and also drink red wine) I don't eat that many carbos, but when I do they are wheat pasta, brown rice and wheat flour products. When I eat out it is really easy: I pick proteins, salads and vegetables (thought I don't eat red meat). I really recommend this book. The key is always eat right, exercise and have a good positive attitude toward life and yourself! Life is too short.... ENJOY!
Rating: Summary: I am eating healthier than I have ever eaten before. Review: I have tried other diets with no success. I only need to lose about 35 lbs so I have tried exercise along with changing my eating habits with no success. I bout suzannes first book about 2 years ago and tried it for awhile but my family wasn't supportive. I now have the new book and family support and have lost 1 inch off my chest and back, 1/2 inch off my waist, 1 inch off my hips in just 2 weeks. I am not weighing myself but I was able to get on a pair of shorts that were way too tight at the begining of the summer.
Rating: Summary: NO DIET WILL WORK UNLESS YOU ARE READY Review: My husband was diagnosed w/diabetes and hypoglaucemia one year ago. He was put on a strict protien diet to control the extreme highs and lows of his glucose levels. It worked. He also needed to lose wieght, like so many of us. He dropped 31 lbs in just over three months. I on the other hand, couldn't bear the thought of giving up my potatoes. It seemed everytime I would try to change my eating habits, a big bowl of mashed potatos would sudennly appear on the table. Well, about two weeks ago I became ready to lose these extra lbs. I have lost nearly 15 lbs. It happened so easily and fast I couldn't belive it! Susans book is filled w/truth. Even though this way of eating has been around for years, I think it is a wonderful thing she has made it avaiable for so many to benifit from. The only thing that you must do is be honest w/yourself.....are you ready? I've lost weight, and haven't suffered. After I reach my goal, why would I ever go back? I will eat this way for the rest of my life.
Rating: Summary: Sounds too good to be true Review: I nave just read the book and am starting to follow this new way of eating. My problem is I'm not a very good cook and need help with ideas for easy lunches that I can take to work and simple dinners to make when I get home. Please help.
Rating: Summary: Could coffee/caffeine cause my weight to plateau? Review: I love this book, I love the receipes, I loved the early, fast weight loss (5 lbs in two weeks) but I also love coffee and I can't/haven't given it up yet. My weight, 148 lbs, has hit a plateau after a few weeks and I wonder if this is the reason. Has anyone given up coffee/caffeine and noticed a difference?
Rating: Summary: I think the concept is exciting - but I have some questions! Review: I read Suzanne's book (from the library) I did not buy it - I am a poor student! Anyway - I got the gist of the program. Food combining, eliminating funky foods, etc.I haven't had the awesome results I had anticipated - could I be eating too many grape-nuts with skim milk? They are such a simple breakfast and lunch! I eat them with Stevia and skim milk like she says. Do you think I should eat less for more weight loss? Does anyone have any advice on coffee drinking. I drink two cups of regular (black) coffee each morning - could this too be ruining my results? Also, can someone let me know where to find the Somerizing web-site! Thank you!
Rating: Summary: Eating Healthier Review: I saw Suzanne on the Leeza show. I have been looking for a way to lose the rest of the weight I had gained from my pregnancy without having to compromise and count calories or measure food. To me that was too much work. Suzanne's book has given my husband and I hope. My Husband also has a few pounds to lose and so he is joining me in my new lifestyle of eating. Everything Suzanne has written in her book makes definite sense. We just started our program and already we are feeling the benefits. Thank You Suzanne and Jean Pierre'Suzanne's french dinner host for such good wisdom.
