Rating: Summary: A way of life! Review: This is the greatest food plan. I spent years in Overeaters Anon. in Boston and never had a craving or desire for sugar or carbos. This plan is so much like that only no weighing and measuring. I feel more " in control " of my life, food and body than I have in years. I am enjoying all the recipes, the roquefort dressing is incredible. I buy this book for all my dieting friends. It is an easy way to live, eat, entertain etc. I can't say enough about it. If anyone wants to email me to talk about this lifestyle, I would love it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent way to reinvent eating! Review: This is such a wonderful book- it is incredibly informative in regards to learning more about food in general. The recipes are fabulous and this is a wonderful way for you reinvent eating and restructure your eating habits.
Rating: Summary: I lost immediately on this diet and did not feel cravings.. Review: My question is...after losing weight on this diet in the first year...and losing inches...feeling pretty good, somehow it has stopped working. Have there been studies about estrogen replacement and this diet...does it still work the same as before???? Has anyone had this problem?
Rating: Summary: I like this way of eating. Review: I've only been doing the program for a couple of days, but I'm enjoying it immensely! My clothes feel looser, but I don't own a scale, so I don't know for certain that I've lost any weight. If this works, this is truly a way of eating I could keep up for a lifetime. Removing the dietary fat bugaboo has given me the freedom to make some amazing meals, including my fave, eggplant parmesan! I'll write again in a few weeks to let you know how the actual weight loss is going. I think basic health requires us to drink lots of water, eat plenty of fresh veggies and avoid excess animal fats, no matter what -- I think it's important NOT to use this diet to get around those basic tenets. I'm eating mostly chicken and lean meats, reduced-fat cheeses, and am having wonderful, satisfying food. It can be done.
Rating: Summary: Tasty foods and fun recipes!! Review: I read quite a few of the reviews listed here before deciding to purchase this book. I was happy to see that there were many favorable statements made. I just started "Somersizing" yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed what I choose from the plan. I made the homemade roquefort dressing and my husband and I loved it. I wanted to comment on some of the negative items such as complaints about Ms. Somers requesting that you cut out sugar but then having you eat high amounts of sugars elsewhere. These are "natural" sugars and come from the piece of fruit you are eating not overprocessed, chemical infested foods! These are actually good for you, in moderation. I have skipped from diet to diet and have done quite a bit of research and have found that eliminating white flour items and sugar from your diet can be very helpful. The first couple of days are difficult. You're changing your eating habits but believe me it's for the better! I got on the scale this morning and lost 3 1/2 pounds since yesterday. I know that most of this is water weight but it is still a step in the right direction (down!). Other plans have eliminated too many of the things I enjoy (bread for one). This plan allows you more freedom and some delicious recipes to choose from. I'm enjoying a delicious "Smoothie" as I write this review. Wish me luck!
Rating: Summary: I'M LOSING WEIGHT AND DON'T FEEL DEPRIVED Review: I have been on diets most of my adult life and as I get older it has become more difficult to lose the weight because of the many years of the "yo-yo" syndrome. I have been following the Level one program for 5 weeks and have lost 12lbs. I eat till I'm satisfied and don't feel deprived because I enjoy fruit and vegetables and eat them at least three times a day. The combining of the proper foods has just about ceased any gastric disturbances I frequently endured. Thank you Suzanne for your help!
Rating: Summary: CONFUSION OVER FUNKY FOODS Review: LOVED THE BOOK, BUT AM CONFUSED OVER THE FUNKY FOOD SECTION.... IS LIVERWURST CONSIDERED A FUNKY FOOD OR A PROTEIN MEAT? LIVER ISN'T LISTED IN EITHER SECTION. CAN THE AUTHOR ANSWER THIS QUESTION FOR MY FRIENDS AND ME?
Rating: Summary: Easy book to read and sounds great Review: I just bought Eat Great, Lose Weight yesterday and am excited about starting. I had an omelet this morning and am getting ready to write my grocery list. I love to cook and because of health problems have already cut out sugar but haven't lost weight. I tried the No-Carb diet for 1 day and failed! It didn't make sense to cut out fruit. I was wondering though about the website everyone is talking about. Can someone e-mail it to me? I have questions about soy products and does anyone have sugarless, refined flourless bread recipe? I have no problem making my own bread but with absolutely no sugar my yeast doesn't rise properly and no refined flour makes it heavy. I had been replacing those ingredients with bananas but on this program no go. I need more recipes too, can anyone help? I'm a meat and potatoes girl from a vegetarian family so anything will do except fish.
