Summary: Eat Great,Lose weight
Review: I found the book very helpful, although I didn't start the diet yet. There are a few things that are unclear and it is very hard to find bread without some form of sugar in it.I was wondering what brand bread is used.If anyone out there knows I'd appreciate an email. Also there is no reference to ketchup in the book and besides making your own salad dressing is there one on the market that can be used.masu12@aol.com

Summary: Update to Oct 15, 1999
Review: Ok, so only 2 out of 7 people found my comments helpful. That's ok, but I guess I won't get the Amazon helpful reviewer award. Anyhow, I am now 136 pounds which is a loss of ten pounds to date. I have not been sticking to the diet very closely, but I have used some of its principles in my ongoing battle with excess weight. I made some of the recipes. I enjoyed the fritattas, but the chocolate cake recipe at the end of the book was downright awful. It tasted bad, turned to stone, and got thrown out. Another minor critisism: How can anyone bring themselves to use the word "somersizing"? All in all though, I think that the book contains good advice. I will endeavor to follow the diet plan a little closer for the next ten pounds. I still have high hopes (and a few more clothes that fit).

Summary: Confused
Review: I do like the program of the books from "Summers" but for a person like me to go shoping for some of the foods in the book at the local market wouldn't happen. I also wood like it broken down more into everyday menu's to understand it better. Maybe if it also had a list of everyday foods that we all eat from, boxes, canned, deli that we can eat. It could become a real thing for me. More recipes would also help. I personaly would like to know if I could have meals like this with my daughter that is a toddler. I guess its for smarter people!

Summary: This book is a guide to a better Life Change !
Review: I purchased this book because I wanted to lose a few pounds and I needed to drop my cholesterol that was up to 267. This was back in September of 99' that I started to diet using this book. Now I can say that I have lost 14 pounds and the best part is that I dropped my cholesterol to 199 as of January 2000! All my numbers went down when I was just recently tested. I not only look better but I feel wonderful and this book has helped me and my husband to get onto the right track in dieting. We are not over weight but felt at our age (50's) we good afford to lose a few pounds. Well he has lost 17. We find that we eat more foods than before but because we are eating the right way now for the first time in our lives we are feeling wonderful. I highly recommend this book to everyone out there. Don't be afraid to try it. You will be so surprised to see how it really works..A life change for both my husband and myself. Thank you Suzane Somer's :)

Summary: Great program, and it really works!
Review: I had written a review of this program about 16 months ago, saying that I had great success, and had already lost 20-some pounds. I stuck with the program, and lost a total of 35 lbs in 5 months. The best thing is that I have kept the weight off for a total of 16 months! Try it!

Summary: WONDERFUL!
Review: I've been "Somersizing" for six weeks and have lost 23 pounds! The recipes are great, and I don't miss starches and sugar at all! I've seen several people inquire about a message board; iVillage.com has a message board devoted to Somersizing, as well as boards for the Atkins diet and several other plans. The women there are so supportive of each other. I hope to see you there!

Summary: Great Way to Feel Great
Review: I have read both of Suzanne's books and have found them both to be very informative. They make perfect sense. I haven't been on the program very long, but feel great when I am following the guidelines. I am a major sugar addict, which is what got me to the point where I really needed to lose weight. So far, no real problems staying off sugar. I would like to hear from other readers who have ideas for quick and easy dinners. I have three very active kids and no time to cook big elaborate meals. I would like to share inspiration and recipes with someone if anyone is interested. E-mail address is tfahnest@access.k12.wv.us.

Summary: Thank you Suzanne!
Review: My husband and I have been Somersizing for five weeks. He has gone from 203 lbs to 183 lbs, I have gone from 140lbs to 131 lbs. We both only have 6 pounds to go until we reach some Level II meals! My meal preparation is so enjoyable, our meals look and taste like they were prepared by graduates of the Culinary Institute of America! Tres Gourmet! We are once again eating healthy, i.e. FRESH vegetables, real butter, eating more fresh fruits, drinking decaffinated coffee, and cutting out the sugars! The difference in food digestion is incredible too! This is the first meal plan that allows us to look forward to our food. I know that we have adopted Suzanne's food combining approach for life!

Summary: Changes your way of thinking of food
Review: I really recommend this book, easy to understand, easy to follow and great recipes. I would have liked Suzanne Somers to focus more on the healthy fats and not so much eggs and meat, thats why I am only giving 4 stars. I started the programm 2 weeks ago and have really lost weight without starving myself. I cannot tell you how much, because I dont own a scale, but from how my clothes fit, I would assume somewhere around 2-4 pounds. I never in my life had problems with weight and I didn't really know what it feels like to be on diet, but during my pregnancy I gained 40 pounds and couldn't loose it all after my baby was born. Than we moved from Europe to the US and I thought: This is my chance, with all those fat free foods in the US. I'll Loose those 10 pounds excess weight in no time." But I not only did NOT LOOSE the weight, I gained 10 pounds more, was hungry all the time and had incredible sugar ups and downs. Now after two weeks the craving for sugar is gone, although I must admit it took one incredible long week to get over it, I don't have these energy drops in the middle of the afternoon anymore and don't feel bloated after every meal. I eat more vegetables than ever before! Over the weekend we had friends over and I started to cheat a little. So, at a mexican place I not only ate tortilla with the chicken, but I had the fried beans and the white rice, too. Boy, did I feel bad- it was not worth it. THIS IS GREAT WAY TO EAT! But I honestly think, that it works more because of the elimination of sugar and bad carbohydrates and not so much because of the food combination. For those of you, who would like to have more insight in the food digestions chemistry read "Michel Montignacs 'Eat yourself slim'" He explains it in more details than Suzanne Somers does. Good luck to all you Somersizers!
