Summary: Totally One-Sided
Review: This book was a disappointment. Though some of the points were valid and the author was very insightful about the point values of large gifts vs small gifts, I felt as though it all boiled down to this: Women, put the needs of the man before your own. Let them go crawl in their caves until THEY are ready to deal with you or any issues that might need to be discussed. How convenient for the men and how sad that it didn't encourage the men to deal with issues.

Summary: Relationship Eye- Opener
Review: Having read this book from cover to cover, I found myself picking it up and reading sections again every now and then. Every time I read a new section, it was like opening my eyes to my own relationships. John Gray, thank you for this groundbreaking, easy to read, down to earth guide to all our relationships.
Even if you have a strong relationship, there are practical ways and suggestions to improve communication, and simply just make life better. Highly recommended.

Summary: Mars and Venus became part of my life ...
Review: I firmly believe this concept. I see the "planetary" characteristics in myself and my husband all the time.
In fact, I so believe in MM, WV that the book inspired me to seek out and work part-time for a Mars and Venus counselor in New Jersey.

I have never read a book that so hits the nail on the head of how women are. And it was written by a man! While I read this book, I heard myself gasping so many times. I felt like I was reading not only about women (and men) in general but about myself *in particular*, just that the author did not bother to mention my name.

MM, WV by Dr. John Gray is a wonderful read. Very eye-opening. There will be things people disagree with, but still .... I also believe every woman (and man) should read it.

Summary: John Gray the saviour
Review: After reading this book I gained an unbelievable insight into my husband's needs and moods. The book made me understand that men are truly diffferent to women and that we need to be able to communicate properly to gain entrance to the other's mind and thoughts.
I feel more capable of resolving problems are they now arise and have learned to listen as well as ask.
The book also taught me to respect both my husband's needs as well as my own.
To conclude I found this book to be the best money spent in a while.
My only suggestion is that your partner read the book aswell.
I would dearly like to be able to tell John Gray my thoughts myself and to show my appreciation.

Summary: Take Responsibility for Your Experiences
Review: Years ago, when I first bought this book, I wondered if I bought it for the wrong reasons, because it seemed so simply written.

But a wonderful tool that I have acquired from this book, one which I continue to use is what John Gray calls the "Love Letter," and Barbara DeAngelis calls the, "Emotional Map."

For me, this book represents more about retraining yourself to communicate with yourself, so that you are free to see how others are communicating to you.

With the Love Letter, in the 11th chapter, you will face yourself on a level that most of us have never thought possible.

While the title of this book is great for marketing, the true lessons are about being responsible for your own experiences, and seeing others for who they are, so that you make empowered decisions that respresent your higher self.

The challenge in reading this book will be your willingness to listen to your psyche - it's been waiting for you to take responsibility for your earthly experiences. Are you willing to do that much for yourself?

Summary: Easy to knock but ignore at your peril
Review: At its core this book is nothing more than a guide to help men and women communicate more effectively with each other. We often say things that come across as hurtful to those we care about whether we mean it that way or not. Gray tries, and mostly succeeds, to give us a way to break the harmful patterns we're so used to and start relating to each other in a more respectful way.

I can virtually guarantee that if you read "Men are From Mars..." you are likely to see many many arguments and/or problems that you've had in current and past relationships laid out almost verbatim. Fortunately, along with those examples he also offers advice on how to prevent them from ever happening or resolve them if they do.

I'm not going to pretend that every word in here is solid gold and some of his examples of positive dialog actually did make me laugh because they were so over the top. The bottom line here, though, is that there is some very helpful information here that we can all learn from. I can honestly say that I've used techniques he suggests and that the results were very positive. What higher recommendation for a relationship book could you want?

Summary: Complete Hogwash
Review: This book is flawed in every way-- factually, logically, stylistically. I suppose you've got to read it, but you'll discover that it is junk.

Summary: We are not alone
Review: Not since Carl Sagan and I.S. Shklovskii's now out-of-print bombshell 'Intelligent Life in the Universe' has a single book had such a profound impact on the way humanity views itself in the context of the larger cosmos. As I have long maintianed to my catankerous and obdurate therapist, Dr. Wittgenstein, and the executor of my trust, Richard "screw the visionary out of his millions" Enterobacterium Johnson, III, Esquire, any [person]can see the clear evidence all around us that there has been a human presence on Mars and Venus since at least the early 50's if not sooner, aided largely by the engineering help received from communication with extraterrestrials that was first initiated during Project Ozma and is covered even today by the thin charade of setiathome, which harnesses the power of thousands of computers worldwide to the benefit of the pentaveret and their intergalactic allies, while pretending to the patsies running the program that 'no signal has been found'. Hah. Ever since I found out the truth about the existence of intelligent life in the universe I have been alone in my struggle, but now the brilliant John Gray has joined the forces of the righteous. The price is steep, John. They will tap your phone- they will leave evidence to suggest to your girlfriend that you slept with her sister, and even brainwash that sister into going along with the story, when in fact you never never slept with Cindy! ...They will hire actors who resemble you to be recorded on department store security cameras exposing yourself to patrons and shoplifting Ho-ho's. Be strong, righteous John, for only true moral fortitude can help us throw off the yoke of our evil space overlords. ...

Summary: Why Not?
Review: Men Are From Mars.." is similar to most self-help writings in that it must not simply be read as a novel and discarded. Doing so will produce no benefit to the reader whatsoever. Don't bother with MAFM if searching for short-term miracles. The astute reader will take notes and refer back to them from time to time. (S)he should expect no immediate, glossy results. Was this reviewer helped by MAFM? Ask me a year or two from now. One particular nugget: 90% of what we believe is bothering us is caused by an incident from the past, not the current crisis itself. Another: "Would you" beats "Could you". Get the picture? What do we have to lose?

Summary: Pinpoints some differences between men & women
Review: It points out some main differences beteen men and women, which helps you to look at your relationship from a new angle. The examples are repetitive, you can skip once you get the concepts.
