Rating: Summary: Just What You Are Looking For.... Review: If you're like most Americans, you're often lethargic, usually stressed, and generally eat on the run or out on the town. You KNOW what the doctors say: eat less fat and calories, don't eat too many carbs, and exercise more. But for those of us also battling weight or other health problems, that advice can be a little too vague.Enter the Fat Flush Plan. This plan is based on years of research and study, and all the keys to be truly healthy and good to your body are layed out--totally clear. This plan is about detoxifying your liver, unclogging your lymph system, banishing cellulite, balancing hormones--and it can happen while LOSING THAT WEIGHT. I cannot recommend this book enough. (Particularly if you have PCOS, as I do!) I LOST 10 LBS. and 6 INCHES in the first week!!!! Men and women alike would do themselves a world of good to try this plan for 2 months. I'm sure you won't go back.
Rating: Summary: It really works!! Review: I started the Fat Flush Plan in April. I'm 45 and have lost 60 lbs. and 5 dress/blouse/pant sizes. My blood pressure has dropped 20-30 points both top and bottom. I've been able to cut back on my antidepressant medication. I sleep all night every night. My skin is soft and supple. My mood swings have virtually disappeared. This plan targets food sensitivities and I discovered that I'm lactose intolerant and even have some sensitivities to wheat products. Those things were the bulk of my diet before Fat Flush. If followed, this plan is awewsome!!! I recommend this plan to anyone who needs to get control of their eating habits and wants to do it in a healthy manner.
Rating: Summary: I believe this book saved my life Review: The Fat Flush plan was quite literally an answer to prayer. I had been on the verge of having gastric bypass surgery. I had researched it and gotten all the medical approvals as well as my insurance company's approval since my body mass index was such that I was morbidly obese. But something was keeping me from actually taking the final steps. I finally hit my knees and asked for God's assistance -- what should I do. The very next day I saw this book and bought it. It made COMPLETE sense --unlike so many diet things I'd read over the years. People had always tried to tell me "just eat smaller portions..." never comprehending the addiction and cravings I was facing. It's like telling an alcoholic to stop at one beer. Once I understood what was happening in my body (because of this book) I could see a path to follow. I started the Fat Flush on August 4, 2003. I was religiously strict on Phase 1 for a month and have been on Phase 2 since. I've lost 60 pounds and nearly 30 inches. I've gone down four sizes in pants and skirts and five sizes in tops. I have LOVED the exercise component (and just bought the new fitness book!) -- and this is from someone who could barely walk across the room without breathing heavy before Fat Flush. All of my friends, family and coworkers are amazed and pleased at my progress. And the BEST part is that my body mass index is now too low to qualify for the gastric bypass!! If you recognize yourself in anything I've said, do yourself the biggest favor EVER and buy this book. Then READ it and do as it says. This plan really, really does work.
Rating: Summary: Best and last diet for me. Review: After two years of dieting and searching for the healthiest way to eat I found the Fat Flush Plan and the search is over. I recently got rid of ALL my other weight loss books (and I had a bunch) because when you have found the best there is no need to look back. Not only have I experience incredible weight loss but my skin has cleared up, I don't get bloated anymore, and the cravings for "bad" foods are not the huge monster they use to be. Suzy
Rating: Summary: over a year and still doing great!!! Review: For the past 5 years I have tried everything possible to lose the 70 lbs I gained with my last pregnancy. This plan is amazing! I started seeing results right away. I felt great and all my other mystery illnesses went away. The headaches, the vertigo, the aches in my hands and knees. My mother gave me the book after great success with the plan. For my mother, it is the first time in 40 years that she is not depressed. Gittleman has discovered and amazing medical break through. It is too bad that everyone is to skeptical to believe this works. Thanks to Gittleman and her team!
Rating: Summary: Fat Flush and see less of yourself in the mirror Review: My wife bought the book over a month ago and we have been religious about following the book's plan. I have lost over 30 pounds in a month and a half and have gone from a 42 waist to under a 38! My target is a 36 waist and under 200 pounds. I am athletic and I exercise on a committed "as can" basis. Having a partner really helps keep the reader or dieter motivated because there is a regimen that needs to be followed. But know this: if you follow the book, you will lose weight.
Rating: Summary: I'm buying a second copy for my daughter! Review: This book is WONDERFUL. I am cooking her recipe's, my husband is losing weight, and I am also. I'm buying a copy for my 37 year old daughter, she has PCOS. I think this book is exactly the diet she needs. The recipes are quick and easy, especially if you use a Foreman grill. Preparation time and cooking time and clean up is so simple, its easy to do 3 meals a day. We've stopped fast food. Thank you Ann Louise Gittleman! Barbara
Rating: Summary: A Great Book For Those Serious About Their Health Review: This is one of the best books I've read on diet and health in general. Most of the negative reviews I've read here on Amazon are by people who either didn't stick to the diet or by people who admit that, while an excellent guide, was not a lifestyle they were willing to follow. While no diet will work if you can't stick to it, there is also no magic bullet to let you eat all the refined or fat/calorie-laden foods you please without feeling the effects. This book addresses important factors such as the effect of refined foods (white flour, sugar, high-sodium, packaged foods), hormones, stress, and food sensitivities on overall health. It also tackles the lesser-known factors such as how mass-produced, factory-farmed animal products have changed the kinds of nutrients we get in our everyday diets, and how that can effect our weight and our health. While some aspects of the diet can be challenging, Gittleman provides tips on how to mitigate those effects, including a preparatory week before beginning the diet and a multi-tiered plan to help ease you into a long-term maintenence plan. As the mother of an autistic child and the owner of a small business, I don't have unlimited time to prepare meals, but I take my health seriously and make the small time commitment a healthy lifetyle requires a priority. I am fortunate to have several options for health foods and supplements nearby, but I also make use of local health food co-ops and buy produce from a small organic farm that delivers eggs and produce directly to my door at a *very* reasonable price. There are many resources like this available even (an sometimes especially) in rural areas, but it takes a little research (call a nutritionist for referrals) to find them. The only criticism I have of this plan is that it recommends more animal sources for protein than I am entirely comfortable with, and does not address the effect of too much protein (and in turn, an acid pH level) on bone health. If you're looking for a quick fix that will let you eat fatty foods, artificial sweeteners, and highly-processed junk food replacements without consideration for your overall health, try Atkins. You might lose weight for a while, but you won't be any healthier--in fact, you'll probably significantly *unhealthier.* If you're looking for a more moderate diet that will also promote great health, I would also highly reccomend Dr. Andrew Weil's "8 Weeks to Optimum Health" and "Eating Well for Optimum Health." However, if you're serious about your health (and you want to look and feel great to boot), this plan is for you!
Rating: Summary: The Fat Flush Plan Review: As a clinical psychologist with a background in neuroscience, this book was right up my alley! Dr. Gittelman backs her ideas up with nutritional scientific facts; the best thing is they work. I am almost at the end of my second week of the first phase of this plan and 1) have shed about 10 pounds (without feeling particularly hungry)and am now wearing pants that I couldn't button a month ago, 2) no longer experience afternoon fatigue, and 3) actually have a regimen to my daily food intake that structures my eating habits. Eating out has not been a problem (although it does take discipline), nor has taking the required supplements, following the prescribed exercise regimen, or eating the required foods. If you truly follow the plan, you will undoubtedly see the changes. But like any other diet, it is not magical. It takes self-control and perseverance; particularly the first couple of days, which were definitely the hardest. This plan really works! Give it a chance...Good luck!
