Summary: Excellent plan - loss 32 pounds in 3 months & still losing!
Review: A friend had recommended detox related books by Ann Louise Gittleman. While researching those, I came across the Fat Flush Plan book. I am very thankful that I did! ALG's explanation of the liver as a fat-burning organ sold me on the plan. I use to eat tons of junk food, pre-packaged convenience
foods and processed foods like deli meats. In the first two weeks on the plan, I had lost 11 pounds. Now this plan is not for the faint of heart, it requires a change to your way of eating and living; BUT, it is worth it! You are taking supplements to improve your overall health and help out your liver. You're getting the poisons and toxins out of your system by following this plan; and, your body will thank you for it... I don't hear those strange gurgle noises in my body that were coming from the liver area; plus, I sleep like a baby. Thank you, ALG!!!

Summary: You better have a lot of time on your hands
Review: This may be the best diet in the world, but frankly it didn't take long for me to realize how time-consuming it all was. If you don't work and have time to make your breakast and lunch, then go for it. But if eating oatmeal and yogurt at your desk is your thing, forget about it. There are plenty of low-fat, high nutrition ways to lose weight and stay healthy that won't make you feel like you're working in the lab. Making Cran-water for the day ahead? Grinding up flaxseeds? No grains. No dairy. I prefer to go with a healthy well-balanced eating plan WITH exercise to stay fit. Why would anybody brag about never exercising? Eating per this plan is a ridiculous way to live.

Summary: If you've ever felt ruled by food, this is the book for you!
Review: Like many people I know, I'd struggled with food cravings for my entire life. And, I had the excess weight to prove it! Fortunately, I picked up Ann Louise Gittleman's Fat Flush Plan. In clear, everyday language, Ms. Gittleman explains WHY I was suffering from intense carb cravings and WHY I was carrying so much extra weight. She also made me understand why so many diets don't work and how eating the right kind of fat can make you slim.

THIS IS NOT A FAD DIET but rather a guideline for how to cleanse your body and establish healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime. I started the plan with 100 pounds to lose and have "flushed" 53 of those pounds so far. My cravings are gone and I no longer feel ruled by food.

I recommend this book to everyone. Buying the Fat Flush Plan was the best investment I ever made. If you follow Ms. Gittleman's guidelines, the Fat Flush Plan is truly life-altering!

Summary: very informative book...
Review: I really like this book. I really learned alot about how my liver functions and what it needs to do its job. I better understand the need for detoxification. The information on supplements is also first rate. I have a whole new appreciation for flax seed oil and evening primrose! Ms. Gittleman writes from the heart and adds her own experience and impressive knowledge in to the mix for a great read.

My wife and I were going to do this program but decided in the end we could not follow the meal plans completely. Especially the lunch time menus. Since we both work pretty demanding jobs, we cant create such menu items due to lack of stove, area, and time. The grocery list isn't too bad, just a bit pricey in my area of the south. We are going to attempt to do our own adaptation of the meal plan, though. Might take longer and not be as rigid, but I figure we will really benefit if we follow and apply the principles set forth in this book.

Just a sidebar here. I found it amazing how difficult it is to eat out and try to remain true to a plan like this. Dishes at so many restaraunts are just loaded with carbs{obvious and hidden}! The American diet is pretty scary sometimes.

Summary: Weight ... and aches ... gone with one plan
Review: I've been waiting to write a review until I'd given this diet a fair chance. I lost several pounds in the first week and lost at a steady safe rate ever since for the past seven months. I have now been on the plan 20 months and still love it. My weight has stablized because I've been on and off it regularly due to lots of traveling. But when I go back on seriously, the weight starts to move again.

I was amazed that I could actually stick with the plan, since I have been fighting weight for more than 50 years ... half a century! I won't say there have been no cravings, but they seem more and more manageable. This is the longest I have been with a plan. Plus, when I have "fallen" for a couple weeks while on vacation, yes, I did gain a couple pounds back, only a couple. And, they came off within days of getting back on the plan.

I have lost pverlbs. to date, which isn't bad for a semi-sedentary 63-year-old. On top of that a number of minor ailments have almost disappeared, including occasional joint pain. And, with doctor's approval, I have kicked Prilosec for a chronic acid stomach and Norvasc for high blood pressure. Oh, and that's not to mention shinier hair, healthier skin and stronger nails.

This diet takes some organization to succeed, but the effort for me is certainly worth it. The supplements are expensive, but well-thought-out and without stimulants. After a while, the cost evens out and you're spending less on other health and nutrition-related items. Not to say less on junk foods, fast food and expensive coffees.

One of the most wonderful features is that it continues to evolve in the caring hands of its author. While not as available as she once was before the diet gained massive popularity, she still will answer questions that can't be handled by the moderators on the Fat Flush board on iVillage or the Forum on her own web site.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who seriously wants to lose weight or just eat healthier.

Summary: Astounding Results - Try This if You Have Failed Before
Review: After half of my office went on Fat Flush, I joined the crowd. Two weeks later, my scale has moved 8 pounds southward but my clothes are falling off my back. I can wear my size 10 jeans and my tummy is disappearing. Maybe the best part of all of this is as as PMS sufferer, I had no cramps or bloating pre-menstruation for the first time in my life.

I read some of the other reviews and don't know how people can be so silly.

You spend 30 or 40 some odd years putting all sorts of junk in your body like coffee, drugs, sugar, fats, preservatives, and other assorted pollutants - and expect to have instant results without a little bit of detox and withdrawal.

Give me a break. Feeling good and looking good takes time and effort in this day and age.

I say FAT FLUSH ROCKS!

Summary: You must try this program!
Review: My goodness, this program is not just a rehash of all the Atkins, Zone, and Sugar Busters, stuff.

This woman is original. The concept of detoxing the liver to lose weight is mind-boggling BUT it works.

I had a little trouble giving up coffee, but now, I have more energy than a 25 year old (I am 53 this September).

Besides, my whole family loves the flax seed oil, loves the Long Life Cocktail and really enjoys the fat flushing herbs and spices the author recommends. Even the Fat Flush Soup is great.

I encourage any body who cares abou their health and weight to read this and do this for a quick cleanse or for a lasting lifestyle change.

Summary: Like having a second job
Review: Maybe this diet works. I bought the book because I respect Ann Louise Gittleman's work. I went out to buy the supplements, psyllium powder, flax oil and cran juice at the health food store and spent 50 dollars. This doesn't include any of the food that I bought for the first day. That was an additional expense. Then I started. I got up and drank the long-life cocktail which almost made me throw up due to the texture. Then I drank the hot water with lemon. Then I had to wait 20 minutes to eat breakfast, which I had to spend time preparing. I took the cran water to work, and kept running to the fridge to drink it at the appropriate times. Then I ate lunch, and reminded myself to drink more cran water in an hour, and to eat an apple at 4:00. I got off work and got home at 6:45, had to cook this cider-turkey stuff and I was supposed to bake a spaghetti squash, but didn't want to wait 30 more minutes-because then how would I get in the rest of my water and my next long-life drink before bed which she says should be at ten???????
I don't have a problem sticking to things, but this is like having a second job. It takes too much time, energy, and money. Plus I have trouble eating so much eggs and meat.
I will continue with the flax oil and borage supplements, but I'm leaning toward Jorge Cruise's diet instead.

Summary: If you're allergic, this book isn't for you
Review: Well, I like Anne Louise and I think she has helped so many people but I am disappointed that I cannot do this eating plan because I am allergic to whey, borage and flax. Why can't it be a FOOD plan without the added supplements. What would happen it one tried the plan without the all the added whey etc.? Are there substitutes that one can use?
I'm still waiting for someone to come out with something that takes we allergic folks into consideration.
Congratulations to all who were successful and I only gave it 2 stars because I could not use it. I'm sure it's a good program for some.

Summary: My first diet attempt - my best diet success
Review: The Fat Flush Plan by Anne Louise Gittleman was a fortuitous book to run across.
The book is concise, clear with excellent health information.
You do not have to be a brain surgeon to understand the method behind the Plan.
Not only is it easy to understand - it is easy to accomplish.
The explanations at the beginning of the book, prepare you for the eating program to follow.
The eating program is more that than let's say a diet.
There is regular food - no there is very good food included in this plan.
This was my first diet attempt. I am 5'7 - of fairly medium
build - my weight for years had been 135, then I went to 155 which was still comfortable for me.
This year I stepped on a scale and I was 185 lbs. How, why & when? Of course I had the answer to those questions but now I needed a solution. I just happen to run across the book in the library.
The Fat Flush Plan was the beginning of a healthier lifestyle for me.
