PRIMO!! GET THIS BOOK BEFORE YOU BUY ANY OTHERS!!
Review:

Corinne Netzer's COMPLETE BOOK OF FOOD COUNTS delivers even more than it promises, in a very handy 4" wide by 7" tall by 1-3/4" thick size that is easy to carry along to work, restaurants, and shopping.

This book has at least 10,000 name brands, restaurant foods, and basic foods in it and includes calories, carbohydrates, protein, sodium, cholesterol, fat and fiber for each food. Netzer has managed to pack it all into an easy-to-read and easy-to-use format. PHENOMENAL!

This one is definitely a keeper and the best I've found!

I bought three other references (one that was supposedly a fat counter, another an all-in-one refernce and the other a cholesteral guide) at the same time I bought Corinne T. Netzer's COMPLETE BOOK OF FOOD COUNTS. If I had gotten Netzer's book first, I could have saved a lot of money because I didn't need to buy the others. Not only is Netzer's book complete and more comprehensive than the others, it is less expensive than any of the others, too!

Since this is such a useful book, it would make a great gift for anyone on your list. They needn't be on a diet or be a "health nut" to be happy to have an up-to-date and useful reference!

Summary: Best dietary reference book
Review: Dieting in today's fast paced enviornment is hard enough. This book took alot of the guess work out of meal planning. I carry it wherever I go. With the help of this book and regular excercise I have lost 30 pounds and kept it off for over two years.

Summary: Not really complete
Review: fails to list sugar content as a separate item from carbohydrates - otherwise OK

Summary: Excellent
Review: For a fast easy reference to how much you are consuming in protein, carbs, etc. get this book. I was always frustrated when I'd buy meat that didnt have a nutrition label on it, and I was grateful for this book. Only one complaint: it lists contents for places like McDonalds and Burger King, but not for Chinese restuarant goodies like General Tso's chicken...well, at least I couldn't find any listings myself. All in all a good source.

Review: Good book but last update was in 1997. Info on eating out with fast food needs updating.

Summary: What about sugar?
Review: I am a hypoglycemic with family member's who are diabetics. This book gave me a general idea by displaying the protein and carbohydrate levels of some of the foods that I eat. The only problem was that there was no mention of the sugar content of these foods which is just as important, if not the most important. Overall it was one of the best books I've ever bought. Thank You

Summary: Sound, well researched information
Review: I am a physician in private practice, and I subspecialize in bariatrics (weight management). All of my patients are given a copy of this wonderful reference when they begin my program, and it has proved to be extremely helpful.

Summary: Getting Started
Review: I am currently reading Dr. Atkins book, and am now rereading it for the second time. I, like many, have been on countless and strange diets. As well, I have kept Weight Watchers in business!!! I have never been on a program such as this before (the only one I haven't tried) so I would like to make sure I have read the book thoroughly, have my kitchen stocked properly, get the necessary vitamins and hopefully find the urine testing strips before I begin. Then, I'll be ready to go. I plan to begin this Saturday (Aug 21), I can feel myself gearing up for it and since this will be a lifestyle change, I want to make sure I am ready! The book has been very motivational, and I'm sure I'll be able to relate to it more once I begin. Ideally, I would like to lose 40 pounds. I'll write another entry in about a month with my progress.
