Summary: The only diet in the world.
Review: If you dont lose weight on this diet you are eating too many carbs. This is the best diet in the world as well as the best feeling diet.

In order to master this diet you have got to rid yourself of the addiction of sugar.

After the the first two weeks of eating only protein and fat you feel powerful. (literally)

Summary: The easiest, most effective diet by far!!!!!!
Review: I have written comments on here a couple of times before, but I like to keep people informed of my progress, as I like to know about my fellow dieters too. I started the diet mid-March, and by now I have lost around 27 lbs (got another 110lbs to go). It has been easier than any diet I have ever tried, and I have tried quite a few, believe you me! I did, about a week ago, experience some tough constipation, but I realized straight away that it was due to the lack of fibre in my diet, so I fixed that and now I'm fine.

Sometimes it is really annoying when people write bad comments here and at the same time it being so obvious that they haven't even read the WHOLE book, like one person said "and what happenes when you get off the diet....." I just shook my head in fustration. If this person HAD read the book, even if it had been the summary,they would have known that is not a diet one gets on and off from like a bloody bus, but a life time nutritional philosophy. One person said that they weren't losing weight even though they were eating according to the instructions, especially loads of salads........sigh.....Dr. Atkins said that should you not lose weight, CUT OUT THE SALAD! People like them are so happy to critisise the diet as soon as things do not go to plan.....well, to all of you out there: Maybe you ARE doing something wrong but you just don't realize it because you never read the WHOLE book!!!! I'm not saying that this is the one and only diet for everyone, but if you cannot be bothered to concentrate on the contents of the entire book, you cannot blame anyone else but yourself.

I must admit that I feel really passionate about the diet, and where ever I am and who ever I talk to, I always manage to tell them about the diet, whether they look like they need it or not. The main reason for this is that here, "on the other side of the pond" very few people have heard about it, and ever fewer can name foods that are either low or high in carbohydrates.... LOW FAT!! LOW FAT!! is the way we do it here......Well not anymore, I'M GOING TO MAKE SURE OF THAT!!!!!!! Wish me luck!!!

P.S If anyone can tell me where to get the TV program about the diet "The View" I would be more than grateful!!!!!

Summary: Best way to lose weight and keep it off!
Review: I've had two babies in the past 2 years and I gained a lot of weight. For 2 months I tried to lose weight by eating "healthy" or so I thought. I only lost about 4 pounds. I was eating low fat food and did not understand why I could not lose the weight. I was eating rice , pasta, bagels, etc. Then I heard of Dr. Atkins and bought this book. I've been on this diet for 2 months also and instead of 4 measily pounds, I've lost almost 25. And I love the food I get to eat. And his chocolate shake mix that he's put out is awsome for breakfast and lunch substitute. You can buy this at a health food store or on-line. We all need some grains though so it's a good idea to eat 100% whole wheat bread or cereal that has no added sugar. But, if you want to lose weight faster limit this to maybe one serving a day. But once you get to the weight you want to be then you should introduce these foods back, but only in small amounts, because we have to have fiber otherwise you will feel bloted all the time. It's best to eat these first thing in the morning and then no more carbs the rest of the day.

Summary: needs to be more informative about what you can eat.
Review: I started the atkins diet last Monday and lost 7 lbs the 1st week. Of course, I am very pleased. But I am confused about how phase II differs from phase one. The diet seems great, although I read a lot of controversy on low carb diets. I plan to stick with it for a while, just to see what happens. But I will have to read some sections again to see what I missed. My weight loss is aready noticable, and 3 people at work have run out to buy the book.

Summary: Loved the book but it didn't work for me.
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. However, I had a problem with the diet. He says give us 14 days! Well, the first week I lost 11 lbs, the second week I gained 5 lbs. So I decided it must have been water weight, and I would try another two weeks on the induction diet. I did not cheat for the 4 weeks, and continued to lose and re-gain the same 5 lbs over and over again, until I finally went off of the diet. I cut my carbs to 10 per day. I really felt this was a good diet I could live by. I felt much better being on the diet. But I never really got into ketosis, and the weight did not fall off. I am rather baffled. I know several people who have lost tremendously and feel wonderful on this diet. I would love any help given.

Summary: I barely lost any weight (SEE DR BEFORE STARTING THIS)
Review: Last year I went on this diet for 4 - 5 months. I first started out losing JUST 2 pounds. Then nothing - I kept on eating as the book said - especially the salads. When it came to a place in the book where it said "You be losing __ pounds by now", that was a bunch of crap. I hadn't lost any more than the 2 pounds. Mind you, I'm an epileptic and I know a side effect from my medication is "weight gain". I tried several times (during my work breaks) to get in touch with one of their "dieticians" for advice as to why I wasn't losing weight but they were always busy (supposedly being so busy with other people). With this kind of help, I got discouraged and dropped off this diet. It is VERY HARD to find a diet where a person will LOSE WEIGHT. Everyone says that you'll lose weight but when you try it, you don't - so - on to ANOTHER diet to try out.

Summary: It works wonderfully for my wife but not me.
Review: We read your book about 3 months ago and the results have been fantastic for wife but I have not lost much. By much I mean basically nothing. But I love the diet and believe me I am following the diet. The diet makes me feel like I have so much energy. But, what else can I do to lose the 15 pounds that I need to lose??

Summary: All you need to know about a low carb. diet, easy to read.
Review: I picked this book up without any previous knowledge of a low- carb. diet, and in about 2 and 1/2 hours I pretty well understood that every thing I have been eating for years was full of carbs. I now have a much better understanding of how to combat this problem of overeating carbs. Thanks to Dr. Atkins. He has years of practice in this area, it made me feel better about doing this diet. I have lost 6 pounds this first week. Thanks Dr. Atkins

Summary: Great diet if your body allows it.
Review: First of all I'm getting sick of these clowns who only need to lose 10 lbs or are not overweight and just want to get "ripped." Ignore their bad reviews and overall nonsense if you have a real weight problem. If you're one of the few who's body does not react well to this diet just say so. Don't cry quackery just because it made you ill. For those like myself who's severe weight trouble has practically ruined our lives this diet is a blessing. After the first 3 days the increase in energy was unbelievable, the mental fog and Monday morning blues were gone. I don't keep track of weight loss but I went from size 56 to 48. My mother has been on it for 5 months and has lost 35 lbs. Being slaves to Ben and Jerry's ice cream is over for us. We both feel great and didn't require hospital care, thank you. I think a common mistake when starting is too much meat, too much cheese, not enough exercise and becoming constipated and miserable. I would recommend eating mostly chicken and fish and 100% of the veggies allowed. And exercise! If you're getting sick of all that grease cut down on the bacon, KFC, and double cheeseburgers without the bun. It's that simple. Worried because you heard this diet is hard on your kidneys? Don't eat steak every day. Use moderation and common sense. It's that simple.

Summary: I was skeptical at first...
Review: This is fantastic! After seeing three of my friends lose 70, 40 and 25 lbs. respectively, I decided to try this program for myself. I was really skeptical because I have tried Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, fruit and vegetables, the cabbage soup diet, diet pills, the rice diet, starvation, fasting, you name it - I have tried it! So...why not try this one! Well, to my amazement, after the 3rd day I felt as though I had eaten a full course meal all day long! After just a week I had lost 12 lbs. and then by the end of the 14 days I had lost 22 lbs. It has been about 2 months since I have started and I have a lost a total of 35 lbs! This is fantastic! I keep hearing that this is unsafe because of the high-fat content of this diet... Did anyone care when I gorged myself with burgers, fries, donuts, cookies, cake, ice cream, lasagne, etc...???????
