Summary: 4th month and still happy with it!!!!
Review: I started the diet mid-March, and was losing pounds steadily, until early June I held a party and cheated...I had pizza, alcohol, bread and sweets, and this really affected me...I didn't lose ANY for the next 4 weeks, but I also wasn't being as strict as I ought to have been. It was getting really fustrating. I was probably eating around 40-50 g carbs per day, whilst telling myself that I was still within 20-25 g...., but now that I have tightened up againg, the pounds are rolling off once more. I have apprx. 140 lb to lose all together, and have lost around 32 lb so far. My Father started the diet, as he had difficulty getting rid of those last 20-30 lb, although he has never been over weight as such, but in 5 weeks, he has lost 25 lb!!!!!! This diet makes so much sence, and I tell everyone about it if possible. Mind you, there are many people who just cannot accept that in most cases it is not FAT that makes you fat, but the carbs..oh well, once I'm down to my target weight, let them tell me then that the only way to diet is low fat!!!! I wish you all luck and inner strength, even tho, on this diet, YOU NEED VERY LITTLE OF EITHER! THIS BOOK IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!

Summary: Absolutely Amazing!!!
Review: After being severley overweight/obese my entire life, the weight is finally melting off without hunger, pain, or effort! I started 9 weeks ago at 303 lbs and am now down 40 lbs! If you want to lose weight without ever being hungry, this is the plan for you!! I had previously tried losing weight on a different diet practically every month for years and this was the key that changed my life. As a Registered Nurse, when I read this book a light went on over my head and I realized that insulin and high carbohydrate/low fat diets are what made me this way! Now that I know the answers, I'll never be fat again!

Summary: The diet may work, but the book was poorly written.
Review: I found his book difficult to follow, and as other reviewers have mentioned, there was too much material that, although I read it all, I wish I had just skimmed.

I had gone on the Dr. Atkins diet when I was in my thirties and found it extremely successful. I felt well, I had plenty of energy and was completely sold. Now I'm 61, and having ignored my weight for too long, I decided it was time to go back on The Atkins Diet once again. It's a particulary easy diet for me, because I'm not fond of bread, cereal and pasta. However, this time I didn't lose a pound, although I was in ketosis for 14 days. Although I had a complete physical before starting on the diet, I still feel it's a little risky to stay on the Induction part of the diet any longer.

The most unfortunate thing about the book is the fact that there are so many questions unanswered. When I tried to contact Dr. Atkins (or an assistant) through his website, it advised that the e-mail assistance is temporarily down. If my questions had been answered in the book, I would feel more comfortable with this diet. I am now eating normally, but I do intend to try the diet one more time after a period of two weeks or so. Maybe I went overboard with too many calories. It seems it would be better to eat less of all that protein -- one egg and one sausage at breakfast, instead of two eggs and four sausages.

In short, Dr. Atkins needs some help in re-writing his book to make it more complete and more to the point.

Summary: Very Disapointed in Dr. Atkins Diet / " Show Me State"
Review: My wife and I have follwed the diet guidelines to a "tee" for three weeks now. I have lost five pounds (which I think is probably from water because of my working out) and my wife has lost zero. We have no idea why as we did everything according to instructions?????? I have read every review reading with an open mind. I believe that there are a lot of people looking for the same answer and not finding it? My brother is a classic example. He has lost 18 pounds over a four month period, which was good. The other day ,while we were out playing golf, he about passed out several times. I ask him go to the club house as he had the rest of the foursome very worried. He has lost weight but looks very plae and not very healthy. I'm worried for him and told him so. I will lose some more weight but not with this diet. This diet didn't "show me" any real lasting success story for that " GOOD HEALTHY LIFE STYLE" as they often claim. Sorry," this good ole boy" isn't paying for any more rounds of golf for DR. A..."FOUR!"

Summary: It makes you feel great!!
Review: Hello, my name is Barbara and I am 27 yrs old. I have about 60 pds. to lose and this diet is great for me. I also have hypothyroidism and it is difficult for me to lose weight on any diet. I lack Iodine which is in shellfish. On this diet I can eat all the seafood I like. For me this diet is easy to follow and your never left hungry. You can eat large quanities of protein, that in fact is what most of us enjoy. The only thing I really miss is sauces, I am a lover of sauce. But the thought of being thin again will encourage me to forget about the sauces. After all the outcome will make me healthier and have a better outlook on myself. Thank You, Dr. Atkins

Summary: Dr. Atkins diet book give readers the information to suceed!
Review: Having been overweight for all of my adult life, the contents of Atkins book has given me the power to expel this problem from my life! I have been on every diet known to man and though some of them worked temporarily, at age 52 I weighed 212 and no diet would even start weight loss for me. Dr. Atkins explanations of chemical processes and the body's reactions is absolutely illuminating! The book has given me all the information and incouragement I needed to lose 72 pounds and fit into a normal life again! Thanks Dr. Atkins!

Summary: It works...I went from 235 to 215 in 2 months..BUT...
Review: ...you have to heed his other medical advice. GET THE CHECKUPS AND BLOOD/METABOLISM TESTS, THE SUPPLEMENTATION PROGRAM, AND CHECK YOUR KETOSIS OFTEN. This diet was the easiest one I've ever followed and had the most success with (I lost 13 lbs during the Induction Period--first 2 weeks); however, it's very easy for the weight to jump back on if you don't follow through (my weight went back to 235 quickly when I lost my job). I now have mild hypertension, but I think only because of the weight gain as I don't have a family history/prior problem with it...JUST MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW HIS MEDICAL AND SUPPLEMENTATION ADVICE. BTW, I've noticed my guy friends have more success with this program than my women friends...wonder why....

Summary: Simply put- it worked for me!
Review: OK, I'm 23 years old and college did one hell of a number on me. Pizza, burgers, tacos, and beer. All in all I put on over 30 pounds in my 4 years of college. I started the Atkin's diet two months ago. I'm now 5 pounds away from the 175 I weighed my senior year in high school. I can eat 50-60 carbs a day easy and stay in ketosis. It may not work for everyone but it's worth a shot because if it works- it works!

Summary: Silliest program that ever worked!
Review: When I first heard the premise of this program (from a relative that had lost 30+lbs. and looked GREAT) I thought it couldn't be that silly. But I bought the book anyway and read it cover to cover. Then I went out and bought the hard cover edition. I liked the immediate results in my appearance not to mention the quick disappearance of HUNGER!!! All this time I thought I was the one who was screwed up. I was destined to be heavier than I wanted to be.

Now, after 7 weeks (I'm in week 8) I have lost 18 lbs. and have about 15 more to go. Then I'll be at an all time low. I really never thought it could be done. He writes with great compassion and honesty. Almost gives you too much information, but it provides a great resource if you want to search for answers later. Thanks so much for your time and effort. This may be the "best" book I have ever encountered in my lifetime!

Summary: This book has changed my life!
Review: I finally lost that final 15 lbs.! Since I bought this book and Catherine Dunne's INERIOR DESIGNING FOR ALL FIVE SENSES, I have had a sense of inner peace that I simply can't explain. Thankyou Dr. Atkins for making a difference in my life.
