Summary: THIS DIET WORKS..plain & simple.
Review: I have been on this diet since March. I have lost 25 lbs and kept it off. 25 lbs was my goal, thats what I wanted to lose. This diet works! At this point, I do eat carbs, but I watch them. I eat much fewer carbs than I used to. I even have pasta once a week and an occasional bagel. I haven't gained a pound! For breakfast variety, I like the Atkins bars (found at GNC). For lunch I usually have chicken salad, taco salad, a burger or even a Caesar salad. I usually snack on string cheese, pepperoni, olives. Dinners will be some type of meat with vegetables. I just make sure that the majority of my diet is low-carb with an occasional high carb treat. It will be a way of life for me forever. I have tried every diet and this is the first one that has worked long term. I wish the best of luck to everyone!

Summary: Just try it, you've got nothing to lose but fat!
Review: I was very skeptical about this diet because it just goes against everything that "everyone" says to do. But, if what everyone else says is so true about low fat diets, then how come we aren't all model size?! The first two weeks of the diet, I lost 18 pounds! I only wanted to lose 25 in total. It's incredible. I tried the low fat diets. All I did was gain weight and I was always hungry. This diet really works. Follow it to a "T" and keep re-reading the book. It helps to encourage you and keeps you on track. You also discover information that you missed the last time you read it. It's VERY encouraging when all else has failed you. My husband, who is a three time a day insulin dependent diabetic, also tried out the diet and lost 8 pounds in the first week, took less insulin, and felt better all over. I have bought atleast 4 of the books to give to friends and family who are absolutely amazed with it! Thanks a million Dr. Atkins!

Summary: Update to 4-13 & 4-18 (terrific results)
Review: I have now been on this diet since March 3rd. My total weight lose is now 67 lbs. I am only 15 lbs from my goal. I stated that I had been on this "diet" since March, I should have said that I have learned a new way to eat starting March 3rd. The results are wonderful and I feel so much better. I have so many clothes that I put away many years ago in our attic. IT is really fun to go shopping in your attic. My doctor is the one who recommended that I try this. I had a complete physical when I stated and blood work done 6 weeks into the diet. My cholestral was the lowest that its beenin years, 181. I plan on calling this week to go in again to see where I am at now, but I can tell you, I feel better, have more energy amd look better. I now know that processed sugar is really poison to my system. About two weeks ago I had a some bread pudding and last weekend I had some ice cream, both times within 1/2 hour to 45 mins later I was so tired I couldn't hardly stay awake. The carbs and sugar were attacking my body. NEVER AGAIN....... I will stay away from them... I have added fruit which is a nature sugar and do not get the same results. I know that some people have had no sucess on this but for me it works and I have been trying everything that ever been out there. You must really want to lose when you start any new program even this one. You must stick to the rules of what you can or can't eat. Good luck to every one who starts and I hope that you all have the same good results that I am having.

Summary: People, People, give it up and go bash Jenny Craig!
Review: I'm sick of seeing all these comments on "Its a fad diet" or "I got sick of eating just eggs, cheese, and meat so I'm giving it up." Its obvious that the bad commenters haven't read the book, as well as some of the people whom have lost weight on it and say its a 'short term' diet only. Diet comes from the Greek word "diaita" that means 'way of life' and this is exactly what this kind of a diet is. If you READ the book, and did the proper research on it, you would see that you can add things to your diet such as fruits, veggies, and other things like bread. You are not supposed to be on the induction for life, but add the things to your diet each week AS THE BOOK SAYS. My mother and father both went on this diet back in the 70's and lost weight in great amounts and STILL have kept it off, as I have. It's been 8 years next month that I have lost 70 pounds and MAINTAINED it. I eat breads, pizza, and baked potatoes! I just spend my carbohydrates WISELY. My husband has also lost a great amount (55 lbs) a year ago and hasn't gained an ounce back. READ READ people, and even search the internet. There are some super web sites out there that have hundreds of recipes and meal ideas. I suggest that the people making nasty comments against it do the proper research and READ the book cover to cover BEFORE making such observations! ANYONE that goes off a way of life eating and back to eating what made them fat in the first place of course will gain it back. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out! You certainly are NOT wasting your money on this book!

Summary: THE BEST DIET EVER
Review: SINCE BUYING THIS BOOK, I WENT FROM 205 LBS. TO 182 LBS. IN ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND I FEEL GREAT. NOW , THERE WERE TIMES WHEN I DID GIVE IN TO MY SUGAR CRAVINGS, BUT I ONLY GAINED 5 LBS. BACK AT THE MOST. I DO WORK OUT EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, BUT EVEN IF YOU DON'T YOU'LL STILL SEE RESULTS. MY GOAL WEIGHT IS 155 LBS. I KNOW THAT I'LL BE ABLE TO DO IT WITH THE HELP OF THIS BOOK.

Summary: It works for the short term, but it's not a diet to maintain
Review: I tried the diet for about 8 weeks, and even lost 25 pounds in the first 6 weeks, but I couldn't just eat meat and cheese anymore. I also noticed that my sweat odor changed for the worse, this might be an individual problem, but I know that a protein rich diet made me stink. Overall, for a few pounds in a few weeks, it's okay.

Summary: THERE IS A GOD!!!!!!!
Review: I started Dr. Atkin's diet one week ago and I have already lost 8 pounds. I am doing the diet along with the advanced Tae-Bo tapes and you should really see the dramatic results. I recommend everyone who is currently on the diet to please do some sort of exercise program. Not only will you lose weight even faster, but you WILL feel great. In February I weighed 191, on a 5'2" frame. With constant exercise and watching what I ate, I came down to 170. I decided to try Dr. Atkins so that I might get off another 25 pounds, but now I have decided to make his plan a way of life. My birthday is next month, so all of you guys out there, wish me luck in losing another 10-15 lbs by August 4th!

Summary: Just another fad died
Review: Unfortunately people are excited by this diet because it shows fast results. But it is just another diet confusing the body's metabolism. Like my husband and father in law, many people on this diet will be heavier after they stop this diet than when they started. The most successful means to lose weight is exercise (1/2 hour aerobics every day and reasonable food portions (less or nothing in the evening and generally; fewer calories than used in one day). Don't waste your money on this book.

Summary: great
Review: i just started this diet about 2 weeks ago, and it is the best diet i have ever been on. You don't have a set table of food that you have to eat. (like i bagel for breakfast, 2 cups of tuna for lunch) You can eat what you want, when you want. And it works. The first week i didn't really lose anything, but that was because i had estrogen running through my bloodstream. But the second week was great. I'm at about 15 pounds now, and still losing steadly. This is a great diet, i recomend it to anyone.
