Review: I have had a weight problem all of my life. Ive tried them all and the weight never stayed off. This is the first diet that I've been on where I didn't feel like I'm starving and the weight is comming off. I have lost 30 pounds so far. 40 to go. It has been the easiest diet for me and for those around me. I am sleeping better, feel better. Give it a try.

I have been adding in some carbohydrates so I went back to 10 pounds which was my goal anyway. I am now 5'7 and weigh 145 which is a big improvement from the 150's. I am able to maintain this weight eating about 30-40 carbohydrates a day. Of course everyones different, I'm lucky I can get away with that much. This is the first diet that I've been able to maintain my weight, and feel in control. On the maintanance level I have added potaoes and fruit to my diet, and sliced bread occasionally. It works perfectly for me, I'm very happy with this way of eating. If anyone has any questions feel free to email me. Also my co worker, who introduced me to Atkins has lost 17 pounds now is is very happy with the diet. This woman could not lose more than 5 pounds with the other diets she tried in the past. Thats when Atkins really impressed me.

Review: My daughter and I have been on this diet since March 1. I have lost 60 lbs. and my daughter 45. We both have been on many diets but this is by far the easiest. We don't really do much exercise but the weight is still coming off and that is what counts. If you love meat, this is the diet for you. Just remember, have patience, you didn't put the weight on overnight, and it won't disappear overnight, but this diet makes it alot easier to lose it. We love it, and the Atkin's Diet Bars are pretty good for a snack... the fudge brownie and the coconut are our favorites.

However, most of the information given is questionable. Dr. Atkins bemoans the new bread and grain based food pyramid. A fitness book called "Totaly Fit" features a food pyramid that is fruit and vegetable based. That makes a lot more sense to me that having a grain or fat based pyramid.Hasanyone ever heard of obesity due to overeating of fruits and vegetables? Dr. Atkins cites the diet of the French as a good example of people staying thin in high fat diets. I hardly think that the French are doing nothing but sitting in cafes all day and wolfing down cheese and ham. The French also seem to be big carbohydrate consumers too. I don't think I could have walked more than 50 feet in central Paris without seeing a variety of baguettes and pastries in cafe windows. I also witnessed mostly thin people in Italy, a country with definetly a carbohydrate based diet. Smaller cities and higher gasoline prices in Europe force its people to rely more on bicycles and their own two feet, whereas here we just drive everywhere. Also, meals there are taken in smaller portions. I was pretty excited about this diet. I stuck with it faithfully and accurately for two solid weeks. My benefits were no more than constant lethargy, major constipation, and aching legs wherever I walked somewhere. Any reasonable person can see that this is not a healthy nor natural state for someone to be in. What happened to old fashioned everything-in-moderation? The brain needs carbohydrates to function correctly, protein builds muscle and tissues and repairs internal organs, and fats protect our internal organs and helps the body to utilize minerals and vitamins. They all work together to properly fuel our bodies. Any significant disproportion of their intake should go against common sense. By the way, all those who would like an unbiased analysis of this book should check out Consumer Reports.

I have about 45lbs to lose. During the course of 9 years and 4 babies I have gained weight. I have also tried other diets to lose weight (Slim-fast, starvation, Metabolife, etc) I am somewhat disciplined but I hope that I don't get bored eating the same foods day in and day out. I hope that these two weeks show some results. I will keep you informed on my progress after the two week induction portion of this program. If anyone has any encouraging words or words of wisdom please e-mail me I need all the encouragement I can get.

Review: I am at the end of my 14-day period, and I am amazed at the results! Just two weeks ago I was 197 lb, and now I am 184 lb! I had a baby almost five months ago, and I was depressed about the weight not coming off. A friend bought this book at Amazon.com and had it sent to me. I will thank her for the rest of my life. I have more weight to lose, but this definitely gives me the incentive to continue with the diet and see results! I never realized before how much I relied on sugar and carbohydrates until I went on this diet. It's an eye-opener. The only problem is that I crave sweets ALL DAY LONG, especially when I am stressed out.

Review: I was cautious when a friend told me about this book. After having children and gaining weight, I tried all kinds of diets, weight watchers, slim-fast, starving myself, with little or no results. I had heard bad things about a low carb lifestyle, but with 50 pounds to loose, I would have tried anything. I started May 1, and as of today, have lost almost 40 pounds. The results have been incredible. I have never felt better, and I am still loosing, even while eating foods I love such as STEAK, CHEESE,& EGGS!!! The first two weeks of "detox" were extremly hard, but after that, it has been smooth sailing. I used to have horrible stomach problems, but not since I started this low-carb lifestyle. Dr. Atkins book has changed my life. It is very easy reading and very encouraging. I urge those of you who are looking for a weight loss plan to purchase this book and give it a try! Good luck.

I have lost 19 pounds and many inches. I am never hungry. My only problem with the book is the layout and not much said about the importance of drinking alot of water.

I went from 223 to 189, 9 years ago on the nutri-system diet, but I was a slacker and slowly gained it back, not the fault of the diet, but my eating habits. I feel I need structure, not just eat less and exercise. I felt I needed to be told exactly what I can eat, again, not the general just "eat less". I did lots of research and settled on this diet. I read the book and read it again, so I could throughly understand the process of what was happening to my body. I have heard the skeptics and value their input, but right now I feel the skeptics are wrong and I'm anxious to find out. I understand that you are to eliminate fruits in the first 14 days, and if this was for a lifetime, sure I would be concerned, but if you read and understand the book, you know that you can add those foods later. I will keep you informed of my progress.
