Summary: Wonderful Agreements for Life
Review: This is a beautifully written book coming from the sincere and simple yet profound wisdom that will help many people if applied. I found this to be among the few books I have purchased where the solutions for humanity are filled with compassion, inspiration and expansive wisdom as well as compassion.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: No Hocus Pocus.
Review: So many "self-help" books are pure rhetorical tripe. Common sense, good manners, and sensible actions regurgitated. In "The Four Agreements," Ruiz does not break new ground but the simplistic and thoughtful nature of his message make this book a winner.

Let's face it, experience and iteration (practice) will propel one toward their stated goals with certainty. To point, the four agreements, as simple as they may be, are tantamount to successful achievement of personal and/or professional goals:

1) Be impeccable with your word - keep your word or your reputation will fail.
2) Don't take anything personally - tough act to muster at times but possible (besides, its good for the soul).
3) Don't make assumptions - those who assume will lose the benefit of fact and learning; check your facts--learn what is necessary.
4) Always do your best - this is the most simplistic of the agreements but one that we all have a tendency, at one time or another, to allow to lapse; if you decide to undertake something, make it YOURS!

So many people who read books such as this or "Who Moved My Cheese" (self-help genre) attempt to pick apart the conceptual nature of the message whether simple or complex. Certainly, many books of this ilk are not worth the paper they're written on but when you find a message that speaks to your intellectual being as well as your soul, you'd better listen. Riuz's message is poignant; follow these simple rules and create your own happiness.

This isn't a "cure-all" book. If you read it without concurrent introspection, then you've done nothing more than read a short book espousing basic vitues. However, if one reads this book with an open mind and the congruous search for excellence, this will be a truly powerful experience. If one does not, then one has lost the message behind the words. Don't read the WORDS, absorb the MESSAGE!

Jump in, both feet. You'll not be sorry.

Summary: Change Your Life -- Start TODAY!
Review: Don Miguel Ruiz offers four agreements that seem so simple. However, it has been four years since I first read this book and I still have to remind myself of the lessons. It takes diligence and commitment to follow the lessons of the Toltec way of life.

Simple doesn't mean easy because The Four Agreements show the reader ways to examine the things that you say to yourself and to others. Ruiz calls your value system your "book of law" and challenges you to think about how these "laws" are sometimes harmful, untrue and unnecessary.

I have purchased this book for others. I have recommended it to everyone who brings up a book for discussion. But, I have rarely parted with my own copy of The Four Agreements because I leave it on my nightstand and routinely refer back to the seemingly simple words.

Don't pass up this opportunity to find your unique path through this maze of life.

Summary: The Four Agreements
Review: Yes, the ideas presented in the book may seem "simple" and "obvious," but I think that's the point. Those on the path to self awareness sometimes make things a little more complicated than they are. If you keep these four guidelines close to your heart, all the answers to your questions will come to you when the time is right.

As to those who are reviewing this book so negetively after reading it, I just have one piece of advice: refer to Agreement number 2.

Summary: Simply Profound
Review: Don Miguel Ruiz wrote the Four Agreements based on ancient Toltec Wisdom. However, these simple truths are repeated over and over in every spiritual tradition, from Christianity to Hinduism.

The most exciting thing about this book is its simplicity. In a nutshell, this book is about taking responsibility for how we feel and what we say and do. It is about how our words and thoughts create our realities and that by simply listening to our internal dialogue and noticing when the "judge" is in charge, we can change our lives. Heaven and Hell, Ruiz claims are purely states of perception.

This is simple and deeply profound wisdom that can change your life. Take the time to read, learn and live the Four Agreements.

Summary: Four Simple Steps..
Review: This is an EXCELLENT book for anyone whose search for some inner peace is still ongoing or for those who just want to clear out the inner clutter.

The Four Agreements are profound in their simplicity and when put into practice make life much easier.

Summary: Something Everyone Can Agree On
Review: This is the second book I read by Toltec Master/Scholar Don Miguel Ruiz having read his Mastery of Love last Summer. In desperate need of trying to repair my own troubled mind and heart, it opened my eyes and I realized that this book is really a solid foundation of personal wisdom ad growth. As I learned over this past Summer a lot of the ideologies and structures we used in daily life are nothing more than falsehoods(dreams) and we can(should) be open to something so much greater than what we currently know. Having also recently opened myself up to The Course of Miracles I see some very strong parallels here with this book as well.

Who can not learn from the knowledge that is being presented here? The Four Agreements are:

1.)Be Impeccable with your Word:
Your words are your sword and also your wand be aware how you use them.
Say "What you mean and mean what you say"

2.)Don't take Anything Personally: One agreement that I am constantly faced with and constantly trying to utilize.

3.) on't Make Assumptions: Another agreement WE could ALL use. (Think what this world would be like if we didn't make assumptions)

4.) Always Do Your Best!

The Prayers are the end of the book are beautiful and inspiring, especially the prayer on love that again proves to me, WE (EVERYONE) are ALL connected on this planet, even if it appears to some as only temporary.

Summary: Inspiring......
Review: The principles are so beautifully simple yet, so extraordinarily important.
-Be impeccable with you word
-Dont take anything personally
-Dont make assumptions
-Always do your best

The book goes into detail of the importance and value of these agreements, what we may feel keeps us from living these agreements, and how we can apply them in our lives.

This book is about being able to find the control we have over our own thoughts and emotions. I found it very empowering that we can break "old agreements" we have with ourselves and learn and apply these new ones.

I enjoyed the thought provoking wording and imagery in this book. I found the authors perspective very inspiring.

This is a wonderful book that I return to often.

Summary: Just did not say much to me
Review: A friend suggested this book. It did nothing for me at all and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The four things (agreements) mentioned do lead to personal freedom and wisdom I suppose, but so do things like "Never worry" or "Don't be embarrassed". I could make up more things that would be great if we didn't do it, and would lead to being happier. I'll call them agreements and publish them.

Summary: Did not enjoy this read
Review: Personally, I didn't enjoy this book. I didn't like the writing style of the author. He repeated himself A LOT - over and over the same message only written slighly differently. The inside flap has a blurb about the 4 agreements (and they "do" make sense and are things we should incorporate into our lives). However, after reading the flap, I knew all I needed to know about the 4 agreements and didn't need to read the book. It was a waste of time for me.
