Rating: Summary: An awakening experience Review: This book provided me with very practical guidelines to look at my world and appreciate the simplicity of achieving true happiness. A good book for someone who doesn't want to struggle through the unecessary rubble of "out of touch" self help books.
Rating: Summary: Essential daily guide to living Review: To keep it short and simple - I carry this book with me every day! It's wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Ancient wisdom for modern days. Review: What a great book! "The Four Agreements" flows with a simplicity and honesty that caught my attention. I came away from this book feeling more at ease in myself. Perhaps the most powerful passage in the book for me was "Death is not the biggest fear we have; our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive -- the risk to be alive and express what we really are." I hadn't looked at this idea before, and when I checked with myself I found it to be true. Miguel Ruiz's book does a great job of describing the process through which we lose sight of our true selves. After that, Ruiz outlines the four agreements you can make with yourself to have a fulfilling life. They are simple and powerful and they can make a a great difference in the quality of your life.Gladly enough, when I found this book on Amazon and read the reviews to check it out, I saw a review for another book which I bought as well. It is Ariel and Shya Kane's "Working of Yourself Doesn't Work: A Book About Instantaneous Transformation." This book is about having a magnificent life and nothing less. And while it seems too good to be true, I found that the three principles of transformation the Kanes talk about touched me so profoundly that I HAVE discovered my own magnificence. No kidding! Just by being in the moment, life becomes magical. By becoming aware of the mechanical behaviors that keep us out of the moment, we regain our original freedom. My work is easier and I feel more connected to the people in my life. Read this book and the presence of the Kanes will seep through and you'll feel how true and powerful their words are, and how deeply they care about people and about the often-missed possibility of living with immeasurable joy, wellness, relationship, and satisfaction.
Rating: Summary: Spiritually Enlightening Review: Miguel Ruiz has written a spiritual masterpiece for people trying to find meaning and the right path to take in life. This book is both spiritually uplifting and enlightening. Further book recommendations are "Meditation" by Sri Chinmoy ; "KYBALION" by Three Initiates ; "The Secret Life of Nature" by Peter Tompkins ; and the books by Michael Newton and Vera Stanley Alder.
Rating: Summary: Thought provoking Review: After reading this book, I realized that everyday I began thinking about The Four Agreements. While the concepts are simple, applying them are difficult. In some ways, this little book has changed my life by altering my thought process. In my job, Emergency Dispatch, it has helped me get thru the day.
Rating: Summary: The Four Agreements Review: This book was absolutely amazing. A lot of what he has to say is common sense, but the way in which he communicates it really hit home. I found myself crying at times thinking of the people I have gossiped about, made assumptions, created unnecessary drama, etc. and realized the only person I need to focus on and take care of is myself. I would recommend this book to everyone. It's an easy read and one worth reading time and time again.
Rating: Summary: The Four Agreements Review: I bought and completed reading "The Four Agreements this past weekend...it is uplifting, powerful, to the point, honest...it works. I cannot imagine what the world would feel like, if every person practised the "Four Agreements." I have spent this morning e-mailing a lot of the people I truly care about and I am encouraging them to go right out TODAY and purchase their copy, and read it tonight. Up to now, Shakti Gawain's "Creative Visualization," has been one of my most important guides, now I have two important guides: Creative Visualizations, & The Four Agreements. A MUST READ for anyone who truly desires a better life!. Love to hear your comments re the book.
Rating: Summary: An Enlightening Experience Review: Naomi Salvarezza, English 100 4/11/00 The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is a very special book. Don Miguel puts forth many teachings which are very enlightening. These agreements in the book are a guide to personal freedom and happiness. Don Miguel writes "Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victum of needless suffering." Don Miguel smoothly blends his native teachings with the hectic pace of the modern world. Teaching us how to live without all the useless stress and worries and how we can be clean in clear in our energy, living a positive life. Another beautiful quote from Don Miguel is "Find the courage to ask questions and express what you really want. Communicate with others clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, drama. With just one agreement, you can completly change your life." I highly reccomend this book to anyone. It has helped me to become stronger in my spirituality and path. I know you all will find this book to be equally powerful and lovely. My thanks to the author for putting out such a good and beautiful message.
Rating: Summary: This is a pleasant book, and not hard to grasp Review: I read this book in about 3 sittings, and found it refreshing, and well written. The ideas presented are not unlike those of other spiritually orientated books, and more confirmed what I have read in buddhist literature than deviated from it. It demonstrates the universality of the ideas of faith, and how it really is possible to live happily in the world, by keeping a focus on what is important. I enjoyed it very much, and recommend it highly anyone who would like to improve the way they look at the world, as this determines one's experience in the world.
Rating: Summary: It is the essential Review: I read that book a few months ago, following a friend's suggestion, and was quite impressed by its profound teachings. The other day I was talking to a friend, telling her about the teachings I remembered from that book, which were appropriate to give some insights on what we were talking about. She told me later that at that moment, she really felt "back to the essential." Because beyond all the fog, beyond everything that we are trying to do, the person we are pretending to be, we know there is something deeper. This book touches that. I read it again today. Even though it is short, I could read it every month of my life I think and find something new. Many of the readers said they bought multiple copies to share with friends.
