Summary: Exceptional in re-defining your life's boundaries. . .
Review: Wow Four Agreement was an amazing bang up-side the head for me. I found that reading it actually recognised what I already knew- we don't have to play by the rules, especially when we didn't define the boundaries of those rules. This book has bought about incredible change for me and how I relate to others. An amazing, amazing book. . .

Summary: Simple, but powerful!
Review: Ruiz's simple words and gentle voice add up to one powerful message. It's difficult to imagine that, so long ago, society was already hindering the soul's progress, and it's amazing how these ancient lessons address so accurately the frustrations of life today. Read this book, practice its teachings, and learn to live a happier life.

Summary: Simple and True
Review: I've read my share of self help/new age/pop psychology/spiritual tradition books over the years - but this really stood out. The magic is in the simplicity of the laws of honest living that he suggests. I'm going to reread this I'm sure many times in the future. Now the trick is to encorporate these basic, timeless rules for living into a personal practice. That'll be easy, right?

Summary: An article material stretched to a book
Review: I gave it 3 stars because it sends very good messages. The four agreements are simple and right to the target. Although none of them is completely new stuff, the author applies them differently, making them refreshing. For instance, you must have heard the advice "always do your best" hundreds of times before reading this book, but here it is applied to avoid regret and pain in life, not to make an achievement, and it is exactly the fact. Most of the time I feel unhappy not because I did not succeed in something, but because of the thought that I could have tried harder and done better.

What I don't like is that the ideas in the book are really just long enough to be a magazine's article material. (It could have been a very good article.) To stretch it to a whole book the author has to repeat himself here and there, make inappropriate examples and talk a lot about "dream". If you don't have enough time and are not into exotic religions, I suggest you skip the first and last chapters, just read the first few paragraphs of each of the 4 agreement chapters.

Summary: Basic premise for daily living
Review: Some books are kept, some are read and passed on. This is a book that stays with me most of the time and is given as gifts to many friends and family. It is quite simply wonderful. Enough said.

Summary: Truly Inspirational
Review: The agreements seem obvious but the more I read the more obvious it was to me that I needed to make them a part of my life. His reasoning made sense to me, motivated me to commit to them. I'm doing my best to keep the agreements and have already noticed things coming to me that were fading away. Very easy reading, and re-reading. Guess I finally just "get it" and I'm very thankful to the author for enlightening me.

Summary: A Book That Will Free You and Empower You
Review: I am the author of Borderline and Beyond: A Program of Recovery from Borderline Personality Disorder and web-owner of LauraPaxton.com. No books have changed my life more than The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz and Beyond Fear by Mary Carroll Nelson (which contains much of don Miguel's message.) I have been reading these books almost every day for the past eight months. The gratitude I feel for these books cannot be expressed in words, because the transformation they have engendered is too profound. This book gives you all the information, love and tools you need to create the life you choose. This is not a book which tells you what to believe. This is a book that teaches you how to choose what you want to believe. It leads you to discover your own truth and your own path to happiness. Living the words in this book has freed and empowered me to find the peace and happiness I was seeking. Now, this book and all of don Miguel's words live in my heart, and they will continue to guide me every day in deepening my experience of spirituality. If you are considering buying this book, do. Give it a chance to wake you up, open up your soul and amaze you!

Summary: I Agree with the Four Agreements!
Review: When I first started reading this book, I was a little disappointed. I felt the way one reviewer did that the truths were rather simple and obvious. However, I noticed that as I read a few pages each day, my attitude started changing. I started feeling less annoyed with people I am always annoyed with and felt less of a need to fight the battles that I always feel a need to fight. It really made me consider that somebody else's truth is not my truth, and there is no need to take it personally or become angry about it. Even though these truths are somewhat obvious, we seldom actually make them a reality in our lives, and things don't change until we do.

I really love the cover of this book and the texture. I think it's a beautiful book!

Summary: 'Don't take things personally' - a great lesson
Review: The simple revelations in this book have irrevocably changed my life, how I view the events that pass before me and how I see myself. While going through a difficult period in my life, at first I did not understand the logic behind "Don't take things personally". I thought, 'these things I take personally happened to me; they affected me immensely and were done by someone dear to me'. However, after reading further I realized what this really meant and the power this statement has if put to use. I now see the clarity and feel the serenity of this statement. I wish I had read this book years ago (although I wonder if it would have sunk in then!). This is a short book, but don't try to rush through it on the plane or during your lunch break. You need to take time to consider what you are learning and how it applies to your life (past, present, and future). I hope it gives others the same sense of love and peace it has given me.

Summary: A disappointment
Review: I purchased this book with great hope. Normally I enjoy this type of book thoroughly. However, while the Four Agreements themselves are excellent ideas, the rest of the book did not measure up. I could have done just as well with a book that listed the Four Agreements and then gave a one-paragraph description of what each meant. Everything else in the book is repetitive fluff. I was greatly disappointed.
