Summary: learning to be a warrior
Review: This was a gift for which I'm so grateful, and also a gift for the entire world...wisdom profound and true, in language simple enough for anyone to be able to understand.

Don't skip the introduction (a habit I indulge in sometimes) as it's an explanation of this dream we call life. Chapter 1 will open your eyes to just how much you've been "domesticated"..."Death is not the biggest fear we have; our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive and express what we really are".

Chapter 2: The power of language. "If you make an agreement with yourself to be impeccable with your word, just with that intention, the truth will manifest through you and clean out all the emotional poison that exists within you".

Chapter 3: I love this chapter ! It's about not taking anything personally. "Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves"

Chapter 4 is about not making assumptions, and the chaos we create when we make them. Chapter 5 is about just doing your best...not trying to do more, or being lazy and doing less. "If you do your best always, over and over, you will become the master of transformation".

Chapter 6: "Breaking old agreements". Breaking free of "domestication"...another great chapter, one that will challenge and change you. Chapter 7 is about achieving "Heaven on earth", and the book ends with 2 lovely prayers.

This little book of wisdom in the ancient Toltec tradition will help you find the path of the warrior, and the freedom to be "Master of your own dream".

Summary: Words of Wisdom to Live By
Review: The Four Agreements are a practical wisdom to live our daily lives by in getting back to basics in a complex world. Words are important tools, and thus we should say what we mean is an important aphorism to be learned. So is asking what is meant, and not making assumptions. Not taking things personally is equally important but harder to master, as it is similar to the Buddhic philosophy of mindfulness and impersonality. Finally, striving to do our best in our endeavors and in dealing with others with love while maintaining our spiritual integrity provides inspiration to live each day to the fullest. Other important books/authors for those on the spiritual path are: "The Kybalion"- by Three Initiates ; "Meditation"- by Sri Chinmoy ; "Lessons From the Light"- by Kenneth Ring ; "The Mystic Path"- by Raymund Andrea. And the books by Zachary Lansdowne & Alice Bailey for the more advanced on the spiritual path.

Summary: Simplicity is HARD
Review: Not since Steve Chandler's "17 LIES" has a book really contained all you need to start a refreshingly new life. The four agreements you make with yourself are hard to keep, very very hard to keep. But the good news is that they are simple to remember and simple to apply once you're committed. This wisdom is not nebulous new age frosted spirituality or mock metaphysics. This book is not for the mystical or the lazy. This book is like the Marines in boot camp for your mind. It is as hard core as an abdominal workout. But once you finish, boy do you flow, do you ever just flow through your life.

Summary: You can judge this book by its cover!
Review: Inside the cover leaf of The Four Agreements you can find these four simple rules for getting along with the rest of the world (and yourself as well.)

These four Agreements are the simplest, best advice I have ever seen written outside of the Bible. These are ABSOLUTELY the best rules for engaging in any business relationship, and of course in personal interactions these rules are a must.

1. Be Impeccable with your word. Keep your promises. Do what you say you're going to do, and don't promise what you cannot deliver. That is the only way anyone can be trusted--our actions must match our words.

2. Don't take anything personally. This is such an important rule, especially for the young and for people in business. Don't let your feelings or your ego get in the way of your interactions with others. If your ideas are rejected, if you fail to make a sale, if you are turned down for a date, this is about the other person's decision, not about you. You will feel much better about yourself.

3. Don't make assumptions. Do we really know everything behind a situation? Can we ever know what someone else really is thinking or really means. Don't guess. You could be very wrong.

4. Always do your best. And you will never have to apologize to yourself.

I had never heard about the Toltec healing tradition, but wisdom can come from anywhere in this world. The simplest things can be the most profound. I am grateful for this book.

Summary: It just feels right
Review: Reading this book is like talking with a wise and individual who seems to know your inner thoughts. It, much like the book An Encounter with A Prophet just plainly feels right. If you would like to get rid of some of your negative thinking, I would suggest reading both books..

Summary: From the author of The Spirit of Joy
Review: The Four Agreements is a book of wisdom and insight. It explains that we have all formed "agreements" or beliefs in our culture, agreements which keep us down. It then invites us to reconsider those agreements, and suggests four agreements - new ways of believing about ourselves and our lives - that allow us to live a far more fulfilling life. Much like the teachings in The Spirit of Joy, The Four Agreements shares insights for a life fully lived.

Summary: I really love this BOOK
Review: After reading this...I now know why my brother grew up lacking encouragement. It is because of the negative words that he heard when he was a child. Negative words really affect children, people and society. I gave this book to my Mom and will buy more to give to my family and friends. Words can heal and it can also hurt. If you want to change your life, read this book.

Summary: Four solid agreements!
Review: This book was sent to me by a friend from Arizona while I was on an art tour in Florida. In my spare moments, this book was so hard to put down. It is easy to read, well woven, and ending in a splendid conclusion: breathe the fresh air as love! And I felt it! I has wished this was a highschool companion as my soul could use it back then in this peer pressure society. This is truly a delightful and must read book! Sweeping and transforming!

Summary: Changing the way we are
Review: A friend of mine showed me and recommended me this book. I flipped open it and read the four agreements on the inside of the cover. Be impeccable with your word, don't take anything personally, don't make assumptions, and always do your best. The four things that I was not doing. I was doing the opposite of all these. I bought the book, because he'd told he'd let me borrow it after he was done with it, because I knew it was the book that was gonna change my life. I read it, and I found a lot about myself, and my mistakes. Now everytime I'm doing something I think, and observe my actions. I try to apply the four agreements to my life, I know, I'm happier than I was yesterday, and I'll be happier tomorrow. I know by the time this is gonna get automatic and I'll be better. The books is indeed very rebellious [how the system and the society domesticates us, and creates our wrong personality], and I like it. If you think ignorance is a bliss, you're wrong. Open your eyes, see the truth, and learn to love people...

Summary: SMALL BOOK - POWERFUL TRUTHS
Review: The only downside of the book is that it ended all too soon. However, there are some powerful words written throughout the pages of this book. Perhaps the Four Agreements could also be be called the four simple truths of personal freedom. Be impeccable with your word, always do your best, do not take things personally and do not make assumptions. The Toltec way is not a new philospohy for much of the content of this book is based on Eastern philosophies and many religions. What you will find here are basically the "golden rules" for success in your life in a concise and simple format.

If you wish to expand on these philosophies and seek inner-strength, peace and contentment, I would also recommend, "Healing Society" by Dr. Seung-Huen Lee, and "World of Tibetan Buddhism," Gyatso Tenzin, et al, both are excellent books.
