Summary: I dare you to try the agreements.
Review: Try not making any assumptions for one day and see what happens. The four agreements sound simple and they are. This book is short because the agreements are beautifully presented in a clear, concise way. Practicing them is a challenge. My personal relationship has changed beyond my wildest dreams with a depth of understanding, trust and love that I never thought possible. If everyone practiced the four agreements, life would be a dream.

Summary: Life can be very easy.
Review: What I liked most about this simple yet powerful little book is how easily Don Miguel Ruiz's agreements can be incorporated into every day life without much effort. You do need to be committed and have courage in adapting these agreements, but without judging yourself in how you're doing as good or bad, your life can become easy and fun. The agreements Ruiz presents, which are handed down from an ancient Mexican society called "The Toltec," seem very natural and relevant to living a life that is truthful, loving and fulfilling.

With an open mind in reading about a new way of seeing how the Toltec saw the world and lived in it, I discovered a personal freedom in my own life. By incorporating the third agreement of "don't make assumptions," my communications are clearer, enabling my relationships with others to be satisfying and enriching. I especially liked the fourth agreement "always
do your best." By doing your best, Ruiz explains there are no regrets.

Another practical guide to personal freedom that has had a profound effect on my life is called "WORKING ON YOURSELF DOESN'T WORK" written by Ariel and Shya Kane. In this book the keys for transforming your life from ordinary to extraordinary are presented with humor, compassion and real life experiences. I highly recommend both of these books!

Summary: Life Changing Book
Review: This book was recommended to me by a friend. When I first started reading the book I was a bit turned off by some of the references to "magic" but I'm glad I got past that... Taken as a whole, this is a truly wonderful book, which changed my entire outlook on life.

Summary: A SOLID INTRODUCTION TO TOLTEC WISDOM
Review: This book is a poetic and concise introduction to Toltec practices. It provides very basic tenets of a much more complex series of shamanic teachings that if followed, allow one to expand one's perceptual horizons and experience a life of serenity and balance. For those interested in learning more about shamanism and building upon this basic foundation I recommend 'The Path' (Esmeralda Arana) and 'Shaman, Healer, Sage' (Alberto Villoldo). These books introduce the reader to more advanced shamanic practices that lead to acquiring perceptual powers such as telepathy, clairvoyance and healing.

Summary: help yourself and sell it after you've read it
Review: I must start off by saying that I am not a self-help person. I read it and remained unconvinced. The stuff in this book is the same that floats across the air every day. Framed in "ancient" teachings, it might appear wise, but wisdom does not have to be a function of age or another (foreign, exotic) culture. I'm not trying to be mean, but this felt equally artificial as Anthony Robbins' plastic face.

Summary: Life Changing
Review: This book is beautifully simple! No "homework" and definitely not the usual self-help book. It provides the ability to instantly change one's life. This book has made me a happier human being and I have given a copy to all my friends and loved ones. If one were to only buy one self-help book this year, it would be wise to buy this book. A must read! Don't pass it up - you won't regret it!

Summary: FOUR AGREEMENTS = GREATER SENSE OF ONE'S SELF
Review: These concepts are so simple, yet so profound - it's hard not to experience at least one "d'oh!" per page... Readers should not overly focus on the rather rudimentary writing style, because to do so would miss the deeper point of this book. The Four Agreements offers one the opportunity to view life a bit differently... small adjustments in thinking that can/will absolutely lead to a better sense of self! (yep...it's really that good!)

Summary: An artistic treasure
Review: This book speaks to us in a way that is easy for anyone to understand. More importantly, it is presented in a highly artistic manner that reminds me of the "Fibonnaci principles of proportion" or the "Golden Mean". When great works of art are made, (ex: "King James Bible", "J.S. Bach", "S. Dali", etc...) certain artistic principles are applied that move us to our very core. These artistic devices often represent the human form, love or God. A hidden language, if you will, beneath the words. It can be a mathematical expression of life itself. Sometimes these artistic devices are employed by design and sometimes they happen quite naturally within the structure of a work.
An open and loving mind can easily understand the emotions that these amazing structures evoke.
Mr. Ruiz has successfully captured the hearts of all artists everywhere. Leave all of your expectations, cynicisms and intellectual curiosities at the door. If you approach the book with an open mind, accepting what the simple concepts have to say then you will be able to savor the wisdom beneath the words. The same wisdom that all artists have been singing about since the start of time.
Mr. Ruiz has presented this song from the ancient Toltec point of view . Most likely, it is the same truth you already know about. If you appreciate art you will love this simple little cantata. If you are self-absorbed than it's a good chance you will miss the point. But, if you are truly artistic this short read will most likely become one of your favorites. As Mr. Ruiz has noted, "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God." "And we saw his glory, as of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth". The author has been impeccable in his word. Read the book. It's all about smiling.

Summary: IT'S ALL A DREAM
Review: I have been reading self-enlightment, the nature of reality, psychology, and books about religion, etc., etc., since I was about 14 years old. I am now 51. Don Miguel Ruiz's books are very truthful and simplify how one looks at the illusions of this 3 dimensional world we live in. Everyone is on different levels of consciousness. Some people will find this book helpful and fruitful; some people may not like the book at all. It is all in what you need or what you are ready for. The Four Agreements are simple, positive rules to live by in one's life. Maybe they are too simple for some people. Everyone is different. I, myself, really liked it because it confirmed or reinforced alot of my previous ideas about how I live my life.
