Summary: a must-read for any woman
Review: This is a fascinating and well-written book. It illuminates numerous fertility signs that I hadn't understood in my many years since puberty! I couldn't put it down until I'd read it cover to cover, and spent the next several nights re-reading sections. I am very glad I bought it and am using this method for birth control.

2 criticisms: First, the author tends to dedicate too much time to whining about the inequality between males and females both in medical terminology and in the number of ways to exercise birth control. (For example men have 1 method - condoms, and women have dozens - IUD, the pill, diaphragm, etc.) I'm a blazing liberal and even I was bored with this line of discussion. Secondly, I thought it likely that many readers would be stopping another form of birth control to begin using this method. Regardless of whether a reader is using this book to prevent or achieve pregnancy, a discussion of what to expect when going off BCPs, Norplant, etc would have been useful. There isn't much coverage of this topic at all, and as I read the book I had more and more unanswered questions about what changes I should expect in my system after being on the pill.

All that is to say that this is an EXCELLENT book, but if you think you may have the same questions I did, add another title to your shopping cart along with this one.

Summary: Should be required reading
Review: This book should be required reading of every girl/women and maybe even for boys/men too! How did I get to be over 35 years old and not know the things that this book taught me about my own body? GET AND READ THIS BOOK!

Summary: Best I've seen
Review: This book is great! She is an easy to read author who lays out the information in an easily accessible format. I found this book much better than "The Art of Natural Family Planning" by the Kippleys because Toni Weshler sees this method as one more method of birth control - not the only moral choice for moral people. The detail and number of special cases she goes into is also very helpful - The method can be learned in full from this book, which includes colour photos and detailed descriptions of the various signs of fertility.

Summary: EXTREMELY Informative - and it WORKS!
Review: Lots of practical, helpful information that you probably aren't getting from your doctor. Take Charge, know your own body and arm yourself with knowledge!

I conceived after the first month of tracking :)

Summary: A must read for all women!!
Review: I and my husband have been trying to conceive since more than a year ago. I came across references to this book, while looking up information on "getting pregnant" on the web. I think This was the best possible book I could have invested in. I am so much more aware of what is happening to my body. After using this book's techniques, it took us over 8 months to get pregnant, but without this book, we would be investing in expensive "ovulation predictor kits" and still have no clue as to what's happening. With this book, I knew exactly when I was ovulating, and we could time ourselves perfectly. Also, I knew I had conceived in as few as 15 days after conceiving. The "home pregnancy test" just confirmed what I already knew! It is amazing how accurately it describes in layman terms, the phases through which a women's body goes through monthly and how to detect them. I recommend it even to women who not planning to conceive right now, just to know what's going on during their normal cycle and to use natural birth control.

Summary: OUTSTANDING INFORMATION... BUY THIS BOOK
Review: If you have found your way to this page, you must be interested in accurately observing your fertility either as contraception or to get pregnant... in either case, BUY THIS BOOK. The easy and clear advice is absolutely fascinating for ANY woman to read. EXCELLENT BOOK. Thanks Toni Weschler!

Summary: Informative and empowering
Review: I found this book to be very empowering while I was trying to concieve my daughter ( now 10 months). I felt more in control of the situation by actually learning bout my own body...imagine that! It did take me 8 months to conceive but by charting and reviewing the charts with my OB GYN it was revealed that I was only ovulating every other month. Therefore it was not nec to undergo exhaustive fertility test, simply wait it out and chart and voila I'm a proud Mommy.

I have to disagree with other posts regarding lack of information on infertility. Toni recommends reviewing your charts with your GYN and helping to determine any problems even earlier then the standard "try for six months to a year then we'll see." If you chart consistently for as little as three months and review the charts with your GYN, it may signal potential fertility problems.

Besides, I would never consider charting a "waste of time". I found it comforting to know what my body was doing when, and eventually being able to read and anticipate those signs.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: This book helped answer questions I had regarding my own fertility. I already chart my temperatures, and the reasons behind charting are explained very well. I plan on following the FAM to achieve pregnancy. I recommend this book to anyone looking for more information about their bodies.
