Summary: Read it; Used the Information; Now Have a Son
Review: As a biochemist, I was truly amazed at how little I new of my own fertility and cycles. The book was a wealth of information, clearly presented and understandable by scientist and laypeople. It took four months of charting, but I finally got pregnant after 8 months of trying (I was 38, so decreased fertility due to age was a concern). I highly recommend this book to all women -- and would encourage even those not trying to get pregnant to read it.

Summary: NO WOMAN SHOULD BE WITHOUT THIS BOOK
Review: WHEN I GOT THIS BOOK I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. IT WAS FULL OF INFORMATION THAT I WAS NOT EVEN AWARE OF. I THOUGHT I KNEW EVERYTHING THERE WAS ABOUT WOMENS FERTILITY, BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. THIS BOOK IS A MUST HAVE FOR ALL WOMEN. WHETHER YOU ARE TRYING TO CONCEIVE OR NOT. YOU GOT TO GET IT.

Summary: Taking Charge of Your Fertility
Review: If you are a woman, and want to understand how your body works - BUY THIS BOOK! This book will absolutley help you prevent or achieve pregnancy by understanding your menstrual cycles. I never knew how much I didn't know about myself - this book is for every woman!

Summary: I never thought it would happen to me . . .
Review: I read the reviews of this book before I bought it and never believed it could work so well! We had stopped trying not to for about 5 months and nothing was happening, but when I started charting I didn't even get through one full cycle before I got pregnant! Our baby is due this Spring! It's amazing to learn so much and the knowledge gives you so much confidence in your own body. I told my friends and at first they all thought it was only for people trying to conceive, but I recommend it to all women!!

Summary: great information
Review: I've only recently been confronted with the reality of decreased fertility, and this book has been a godsend. There is so much useful information which helps you understand what your body is going through in each monthly cycle. There are tips on how to tell which ovary you're ovulating from, how to check for your most fertile day, how to determine for yourself why you may not be conceiving, and even how to choose the sex of your baby. I was so fascinated by what I read, and I'm alread a convert to the FAM (Fertility Awareness Method) that Toni Weschler advocates. This book truly is about taking control through knowledge, and there is an awful lot to know!

Summary: Required reading
Review: If you are a woman between the ages of 12 and 55, this book should be required reading. I picked up "Taking Charge" because my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for some time with no luck. I wasn't interested in freaking myself out with all the things that could go wrong. I wasn't interested in hearing about all the latest high-tech 'solutions'. I just wanted to know more about how my body worked and how we (my body, my husband, and I) might work together on this project. I was amazed. Although I thought I had a pretty good grasp on human reproductive physiology, I learned something new on just about every page. Moreover, all that information was presented in a light, easy-to-understand style with plenty of illustrations for further clarification. Even if you aren't trying to get pregnant or are happy with your current birth-control method, I would recommend this book just so you know what's going on with your body. Forget the goofy movie! Every 6th grade girl should get a copy of this book. Okay...so maybe they'll need to change the title a little for that edition.

Summary: Only book you need
Review: Truly, this is the only book you need whether you want to not get pregnant or to get pregnant. I like the examples of charts so that I can compare mine with the examples. By using the examples, I was able to determine that I miscarried - even though a "doctor" swore that I could not have been. She even asked why I would chart for 2 years if I were not trying to get pregnant. Now I have a doctor who appreciates all of my charts and is using them to help me understand more. Kudos to Toni Weschler. My only complaint is that she hasn't written the definitive guide to being pregnant and raising the child!

Summary: OK, but not for women struggling with infertility
Review: This book is extremely informative IF you function like most women. The problem was I bought it to help with infertility and it is written more for those who seem to be super fertile.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: comprehensive and matter of fact
Review: i appreciated the ease with which i was able to read this book. i'm still new to charting and curious as to whether mine match any of the examples in the book. i would love to be able to know my body more accurately.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I refer to it as my "trying to conceive" Bible
Review: There are so many things this book has taught me about my own body. Such things that doctors do not tell you that I have never known. I've always charted my temps but this book gave a better insight as to what else to look for, when to time your intercourse, etc. I recommend it to any woman out there that is having difficulty getting pregnant. This is my book of the year!
