Rating: Summary: The developing person through the life span Review: A well organized Text provides a detailed description of the biosocial, cognitive and psychosocial development of the individual from conception to death.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Text Review: Although this text does lack in diversity, I felt that the content was written in a very easy to comprehend manner. This is a great book for someone who has never had any previous human development or psychology exposure, as it often states the obvious. I used this text for an independent study course with no lecture, so the content I was tested over was straight from the book. This is not a textbook to be intimidated by or even evoke dread of having to use this for a course you will be taking. I think you will be pleasantly surprised once you open it and really start to read it.

Rating: Summary: Poorly written text, I don't reccomend Review: I am a student and am not impressed with this book at all. It is poorly written and completely unorganized. It is written like a family memoir. I don't think much time was put into the revisions, either. APA writing style guidelines are not followed. I would reccomend that professors not use this book.
Rating: Summary: Disorganized and Dry... Review: I am a student studying psychology, and I have read other psych textbooks. This book is almost impossible for me to read. There's so much going on in the margins of every page that it's distracting and confusing at times. It's chock-full of useless and overly-complicated vocabulary that does little to increase the understanding of the ideas presented, rather it separates the reader from the information because it's overly abstract and dry. I am taking this class online and without an instructor to solidify the concepts covered, I can only hope that enough exposure to this strange and seemingly unorganized text will facilitate my understanding of the material.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I had to read this book for Life Span development at the graduate level. Considering this is a topic that I find dry and borring, this book was excellent and I enjoyed reading it. It covers Biosocial,Cognitive and Psychosocial development for all stages of life leading up to death with lots of charts, discriptions, and a side bar of definition terminology.

Rating: Summary: The Developing Person Through the Lifespan Review: I have used previous editions of this book and find it a fantastic resource. The publisher has wonderful adjunct materials available for teaching if the book is adopted for classroom use. The book is well organized and the new edition has both a study guide and observational videos available which improve over the 4th edition. Kudos on this revision!!
Rating: Summary: Great CLEP resource Review: I used this text for my Human Development CLEP and I passed it with flying colors. I would recommend it for CLEP review. It does have its faults though, not enough diversity and lacks a variety of actual tests/studies in the field - which showed me a weak spot in my CLEP review.
Rating: Summary: Excellent but needs to take another step into diversity Review: We're using this text in my current Dev Psych class. It's excellent in many ways--highly readable and thought provoking. My only complaint is that there seems to be little if no acknowledgement or discussion of same-sex couples as parents. Two-parent families are assumed to be male-female pairs. With so many gay and lesbian couples adopting or having children, the phenomenon should at least be acknowledged in the text and the current research addressed in some way.
