Rating: Summary: OK Review: The principles laid down in this book are presented better in other books (try Peter Drucker's), but this may have been one of the first to lay them down, so perhaps should be given some credit for that. It is badly written, though, like an eighth grader wrote it. And the bit about psychic abilities is total garbage.
Rating: Summary: TRY before you buy this book!! Review: If you don't have much money, don't buy this book because you think it will help you. Sure, the "reviews" sound good, but listen to the voice of reson. I bought this book and was very disappointed! If it worked for everyone, then everyone would be rich, people that liked it and got rich could pay to give it away to everyone who didn't have it yet.Still, it may help improve your life, so here's my suggestion: Go to the library and check it out. Cruse the garage sales and look for a cheap copy. I DO agree with many of the concepts and ideas, but it's no magic bullet, ok? If it works for you, but a new copy and give away the used one you bought. Buy the library a new copy.
Rating: Summary: The Audio Version is Awesome Review: I purchased the book and the action pack and liked them though with my tremendously busy schedule I couldn't get through them as quickly as I would have liked. So I purchased the audio book version and I have listened to those 2 hours of wisdom over and over. I love it! What you get from them that I didn't get from the book were the exerpts of Napoleon Hill himself addressing an audience on many of the subjects he covered in the book. Folks, for me that clarified everything for me. I got so much out of the audio version than I did just reading the text. Well, that's my two cents worth, hope it was helpful to someone out there.
Rating: Summary: A PROACTIVE SUCCESS CLASSIC! Review: Napoleon Hill's classic success book "Think and Grow Rich" is one of those books that after you read it you begin to refer to the earlier part of your life as "before I read the book." Even before you finish reading it the first time, you will be a changed person - it's that incredible. I say first time because you will want to read it again and again. Napoleon Hill's books have been a treasured part of my library. I've recommended this one to others countless times. I consider Napoleon Hill to be one of the earliest "proactive thinkers" in the world. As the father of the science of personal achievement, he has been one of my success mentors. If you haven't read this book before, get ready for profound wisdom. Napoleon Hill makes it easy to understand that our thoughts are things and have God given powers, far beyond what is commonly taught by others. You will find that this exciting book becomes a part of you. Don't hold back - let it happen. Rating: Summary: Create a blueprint for your success! Review: There are certain books that you have to be "ready" to read. "Think and Grow Rich" is one of those books. If you are truly ready to learn the secrets of the wealthy, then you should read this book. Not once, twice, or three times, but over and over, until it is part of your being. This book was born out of a quarter-century of research into the most successful men in the country during the early 1900's. Why is it that a small percentage of the population retires financially independent, while the rest of us never achieve that goal? Would you believe that it is a difference in THINKING? This book outlines, step by step, the Carnegie "Formula for Success" that can propel you ahead in your career. It will take you through the thirteen steps of wealth: Desire, Faith, Persistence, Imagination, Planning, Decision, and much more, that will create the blueprint for your success. If you can dream it, you can achieve it. This book shows you how!
Rating: Summary: Life Altering - if you apply it! Review: I first heard on Napoleon Hill after 4 years of college as a single mother. I truly wish I had started my college education with this as my first course! Better yet, I wish my public education would have filled me in on the principles of success. Much wasted time and effort would have been avoided! Anyone who takes the time to read this book or anything from this author should consider themselves fortunate that the universe found a way to bring this information to their lives. If you do not see the value in this book, please, for your own sake, come back to it in 90 days and you will be amazed at how much will have changed! Mr. Hill recognized that you could lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. As a matter of fact, some are so stubborn or ignorant that they will die of dehydration or drown in the water before they will take a drink. Too bad for them. I found this book not only inspirational, but truly right. I understood that the foundation of success, no matter how one defines it, has its basis in universal laws that, if respected will propel you to levels of success beyond anything you ever hoped, and if ignored will result in neverending loss and futile attempts at unreachable goals. Truly this book should be the cornerstone of every person's personal library - the only book I read more often is the Bible.
Rating: Summary: Lessons from Tycoons on Making Money with Your Mind Review: When Napoleon Hill met Andrew Carnegie, Carnegie challenged Hill to interview the other most successful business leaders to find out what had helped them. Think of this as the equivalent of interviewing all of today's self-made billionaires. Carnegie offered no financial resources, but did help with making the introductions. Napoleon Hill was thus launched on the adventure of a lifetime that led to this intriguing book. In the book, Hill distills what each person had to say into simple concepts for setting goals, staying focused on them, and being persistent. Napoleon Hill does not lay it all out in the way that modern "get rich now" writers do. He wants to leave room for you to discover what he has learned in the interviews for yourself. You will learn better and remember the lessons longer that way. Some of the key points involve tales of overwhelming commitment to a goal. He then talks about the ways that people have reinforced these goals. The book deliberately leaves it unclear how much this goal setting and focus succeeds because of your concentration and how much because of human mental powers of some undefined sort. That source of success is beside the point, because if you do what Napoleon Hill suggests, I believe that you will have remarkable success in your life. More recent research with young people shows that those who accomplish the most in their lives are those who have written goals at a fairly young age, and continue to focus on those goals. The point: Without goals, most people wander around aimlessly and accomplish less than their full potential. This does not mean that you have to work any harder or longer to be successful (although your commitment may encourage that). It does mean that your life will be much more purposeful. I heartily subscribe to that belief. Whenever I have had firm goals, progress has been rapid. Exceed those goals, and progress stalls until new goals are set and pursued. Another reason for reading this book is because you will meet many people in your life who will have read and used this process to accomplish a great deal in their own lives. Your ability to form valuable alliances with these people will be increased by your understanding of this book. Unlike many positive thinking books, Think and Grow Rich is based on actual experiences of people whom many would like to emulate. The experiences that are shared here are all ones that you can follow. For example, if you would really like to have Bill Gates as your business partner without investing any money, you can see how people did this who wanted to have a partnership with Thomas Edison. If nothing else, you will uncover whether or not you have the dedication it takes to create astonishing wealth through concentrating your mind on your goals. If relaxing on the beach sounds good to you as you think about creating wealth, this methodology is not for you. If you find that you do not understand Napoleon Hill's message, feel free to read any of his later books. He lays out the key points in great detail in those. From the title, you may think that this book will give you a very detailed get-rich process. It is just the opposite. You will still have a lot of work ahead of you to learn how to achieve your goals if you use the Think and Grow Rich principles. Your work will go better because it will be purposeful about something that you care passionately about. May you find a path to progress that stimulates an overwhelming passion in others to work with you!

The first time a read this book it took almost one year to read, I'm what you call a slow reader. I thought OK! Now what? This is not going to make me rich! So I put it down and continued in my unhappy job situation. I picked up other self-improvement books; I needed to change my life style desperately. In these other books I picked up I began to read about the Think and Grow Rich book by other Authors; Anthony Robbins, stands out in my mind at the moment, but there are many who say the same things about this book. "That you must read this book over and over again until a decision comes" and apply the principles described. A few months past and I picked up the Think and Grow rich book again and started to read it again. The second time around I read things in it I did not notice the first time. I began to outline certain paragraphs and when I completed the reading the second time I went back and read what I had outlined. That's when this book became alive! It was as if found a road map through my miserable life that I was living. I completed the outlined paragraphs and my mind became energized with indescribable energy. This book was the first time a Mastermind alliance was introduced to me. We hear about mastermind alliances every day. This is where everyone got it, from this book! This book will teach you how important it is to select a proper spouse for yourself. Because that must be the most important decision in your life. To marry someone who is right for you and is not going to ruin your chances in building a happy life style that you deserve. Your spouse should be one alliance in your mastermind group because he/she can make you or break you on your road to success. Know that your job reflects whom you are, so find a job that you like the most. Don't settle until you do that. Through an autosuggestion formula you can find anything you want as long as you have a strong desire to find it and continue to program you mind until that what you desire is yours. Through the workings of the Golden rule method and going the extra mile in your occupation you can almost be guaranteed your satisfaction in this lifetime. Know from this book the term Golden Rule, you probably heard this phrase before but learn how to apply it and how important it is to follow or else? By now you must know that this book changed my life, but only after I read it my sixth time where I finally noticed a telephone number in the back of the book. I called the number in the back of the book where I reached the Napoleon Hill foundation, A few days past and I received a list of other books that Napoleon Hill wrote, I chose my next reading to be the biggest book I ever attempted to read but it was the most important decision of my life. The book is called "Laws of Success" published by the Napoleon Hill Foundation. In this book was a combination of true facts; from how to form a proper mastermind, through habits controlled by our Universe and how they work when we're sleeping or awake, the important facts about a set of clothes, have on perusing an event you want to happen, how ideas are still born until the person who has the idea gives it life to manifest itself until proper motivation is produced. Find out about the little garden spot in your mind because like a rose will grow again and again your mind replenishes itself the same way. This book will help you understand almost everything you need to get what you want in this lifetime. All the other self-improvement Authors are only repeating what's in this book. There are things in this book other Authors don't want you to know about. Out negligence, or otherwise, they are here and they are simple truth and here they are. They have been written to help every human being out there. Find your way to this book because it will be the last book you need. Now I don't read anything else more than a quarter or so, in to the reading of any other self improvement books before I recognize the quotes of this man's life time research. When I read similar writings I stop reading and I return the book within 30 days and get my full refund and begin to read Laws Of Success book once more. Oh! Guess where "Use it for 30 days and if you are not satisfied return it for a full refund" came from? You probably hear this every day if you watch TV. This Man, Napoleon Hill got it from Andrew Carnage in the early 1900, and he wrote it and he said it! And now, big companies are using this term to get you to purchase their junk merchandise because they have masterminded that most people will be too lazy to return the merchandise if it does not work. And their right! Get these books! Read them again, again and again. It's the only way to be sure to getting anything you wanted. One important message though? If you are not ready to do on to others, as you would have them done to you, than you are not ready for this book. But if you are ready! You will write your own free ticket to paradise whatever paradise means to you. And the heavens will be your guide. GO FOR IT!
Rating: Summary: 100% Pure Snake Oil, Guaranteed! Review: Please don't throw your money away on this snake oil. This book could have been the prototype of the crass infomercial. Hill is the breathless huckster, and what he's selling is, in his OWN words, a "magic formula" to easy riches. The value of the alleged money-making advice in Hill's book is zero, and I've read that he never made any money himself except by successfully selling this otherwise completely worthless non-advice to gullible people. Hill says he met Carnegie and that Carnegie spoke to him. Apparently Hill could prove that he met Carnegie once. That meeting is the basis of the entire book. But from what he's written, it's safe to assume the meeting was maybe a handshake and a ten second conversation. But Hill says Carnegie's words were "magical" to him, which conveniently, of course, can't be proved. I think Hill took this one brief encounter and exaggerated it beyond imagination for a fast buck. Hill makes some incredible claims, then NEVER corroborates them. On page 5, Hill claims that "more than five hundred of the most successful men this country has ever known told the author (about) their greatest success." But Hill never says how he managed to meet all these important people, never says what they discussed, and in fact never even bothers to identify more than a couple of them. How convenient. I find Hill's claims here to be highly, HIGHLY suspect. I think it's safe to assume that, out of the 500 he claims to have spoken to, only the three or four he dared identify are people he ever laid eyes on. So why would 100+ people give this book rave reviews? P.T. Barnum got rich that way too: because there's a sucker born every minute. On pages 18 and 19, we read the "magical" wisdom that Carnegie allegedly shared with Hill, that is absolutely central to the entire book: "If you truly desire money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you will have no difficulty in convincing yourself that you will acquire it. The object is to want money, and to be so determined to have it that you convince yourself that you will have it. . . You may as well know, right here, that you can never have riches in great quantities unless you work yourself into a white heat of desire for money, and actually believe you will possess it." Is it just me or is that sentiment perverse and disgusting in the extreme? Wanna bet that the CEOs of Enron, Worldcom, and Arthur Andersen have this book on their shelves? Maybe they can re-read it in prison. Maybe that "white hot heat of desire for money" blinded them to what was right and moral and good. Another thing about working yourself up that way, besides being disgusting and immoral, is that you'll never be satisfied, because money lust in itself must become your goal, as Hill says. How pathetic. This book is offensive on so many levels. For one thing, it's sexist. Hill refers to successful men and wealthy men on every page. He never, and I mean NEVER refers to a single wealthy, successful woman. Yes, it was written a long time ago, but puhleeeze. Want more? How about racism? Pages 5 and 6: "The uncle operated a large farm on which a number of colored sharecrop farmers lived. Quietly, the door was opened, and a small colored child, the daughter of a tenant, walked in and took her place near the door. The uncle looked up, saw the child, and barked at her roughly, 'What do you want?' Meekly, the child replied, 'My mammy say send her fifty cents.' 'I'll not do it,' the uncle retorted, 'now you run on home.' 'Yas sah' the child replied Page 9: "These unfortunate people remind me of a prominent Chinese, who came to America to be educated in American ways. He attended the University of Chicago. One day President Harper met this young Oriental on campus, stopped to chat with him for a few minutes, and asked what had impressed him as being the most noticeable characteristic of the American people. 'Why,' the student exclaimed, 'the queer slant of your eyes. Your eyes are off slant!' What do we say about the Chinese!" To make money the way Hill did, sell worthless drivel to gullible people.
Rating: Summary: Napoleon Hill's Message Changed My Life Review: 39 years ago I picked up Think and Grow Rich in pocketbook form for about 25 cents at a Safeway checkout stand. I read it and it changed my life. Hill's fundamental message, really the message of scores of successful business leaders he had studied, was that whatever your mind can conceive, you can achieve. It works. When I first read the book I was a 21 year old with no direction. The book showed me how to focus and get that direction. In just a few short years I achieved all of my dreams and goals, becoming a millionaire from very humble beginnings. I have given the book to many young friends over the years. Most are not ready for the message. If your mind is open, this book is full of direct and subliminal messages. I recommend reading and rereading the book until you get it, and then read and reread it again over the years. Napoleon Hill changed my life in a large way. I am forever indebted.
