Rating: Summary: Common sense very uncommon- can enrich you every way Review: This book is common sense very uncommon, and when practiced can make you happy and wealthy. A book written by Subhankar Ray applied these principles in the stock market, which I found very useful in becoming an effective investor.Beyond financial growth, emotional, physical and spritual growths are also key to success as mentioned in the book.
Rating: Summary: If you have ANY common sense, don't bother with this book. Review: This is nothing more than a collection of new industry/psycho babble that can be boiled down into one phrase: Use common sense. Covey is affiliated with the Franklin Time Management system which is a practical application for time management principles, but I still haven't figured out what value Covey has added to the organization. I did enjoy Covey's illustrations of the 7 Habits that he used from his own life, but the forced buzz-phrases and funky terminology he used to encapsulate the habits was irritating at worst and useless at best. I've never been one for using exclusive language in any industry if it's not entirely necessary, because it seems so pompous and vacuous. Covey's book is full of this garbage and he emphasizes his terminology so much as to seem that he's shoving it down your throat. In addition, the habits are not new earth-shattering discoveries, they are just the same principles we've already learned, just re-packaged. If you have common sense, use it and don't bother with this book.
Rating: Summary: MOTO - Master of the obvious Review: Excellent for putting things of the obvious into perspective, but then again it is obvious that this stuff is real and with a little thought on our own, we could probably think of the same stuff which would have saved me some cash to go and eat where I made a plant eat -- at McD's!!
Rating: Summary: OK - but obvious Review: If you read all the other "self-improvement", "Rah-Rah" "personal time management" and "lets get our lives together" type books, you know where he gets his material from. Its just homogenized and sanitized. Plagerism? Not exactly. It's hard to put your finger on it. Don't get me wrong - it is a fairly good book and a worthwhile read. However we've all heard this before. Use what you can with a grain of reality salt. One guy in our office was so taken with it that he drove everyone around him crazy with the delegation and time management aspects that his supervisor finally told him to knock it off. Seems he was delegating too much. Also, where does this guy get the idea that we can all afford to just take a year off and call it a sabattical? Must be nice. Think I'll write a book and take a year off!
Rating: Summary: The Best Self-Educating Book Review: This Book Uncovers and Defines all the peculiarities of internal and external behavior. if you focus and take notes of the ideas mentioned you can make big changes in your life. I Highly Recommend this Book for anyone willing to enhance the quality of his life and has the courage to identify his weaknesses. Especially Useful to Middle East and 3rd world People.
Rating: Summary: Great Book--Very Insightful! Review: I am a college student and I just finished reading Dr. Stephen Covey's book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." This is a great book to read. Covey incorporated his real life events with each of the principles of highly effective people. This gave a greater understanding and awareness of the content
Rating: Summary: The book is highly practical and speaks my mind. Rating: Summary: A "must read" for anybody who wants happiness and success Review: Covey is easy to understand, and his teachings are solid. He skillfully leads you through some mental exercises that open up new vistas of insight. The concepts themselves have stood the test of time; it's Covey's presentation and way of tying everything together that work the apparent magic. I read this book nearly 10 years before writing this review, and have referred to it often since then. Covey's contribution to mankind, through this book, is major. "Seven Habits..." may well be one of the great life-changing tools of our time. Why should you read this book? As Covey says, "Put first things first." This book lays a firm foundation from which you can reach new heights--both professionally and personally. If you have any desire to take control of your life, to be happy, to succeed--this book (or tape) is for you. If you enjoy chaos, uncertainty, and failure, don't read this book.
Rating: Summary: A waste of time Review: I have read (and listened to) much of Dr. Covey's work and the majority of it is not at all original, and NOT applicable to life today. This particular book/audio tape, is just a little bit of positive talk. Most of the people who praise Dr. Covey's work are actually praising anyone who affirms the "good old morals" of the past.
Rating: Summary: Either you got it or you don't! Review: This book is filled with some useful knowledge. However, many of the issues brought up are things that usually people are born with and they can't be learned. Successful people were observed to find these characteristics, and they didn't read this book. I am very doubtful that many people will read this book and walk away a much grander person. One will probably find one or two things to work on, but the book is too wordy and long to be worth most people's time.
