Summary: Try it! All you have to lose is pounds!
Review: This is not just another weight loss diet! The Ultimate Weight Solution is a plan for the mind and body. You will lose weight but unlike all the other fad diets that proclaim they will work in ten days, Dr Phil admits that healthy weight loss takes time. The main goal of the book though is getting you to understand why you are overweight and how you can change your eating habits away from bingeing, crash dieting, or any other unhealthy quick solution that eventually becomes a quicker defeat. The book accomplishes its goal.

Above all I enjoyed reading this book. The language is candid and not boring like so many diet books that read more like car manuals than life changing works. Phil's voice rings true throughout the book. Buy it and you will lose.

Summary: Dr. Phil, although overweight himself, has good plan
Review: In addition to being the wise, down-home, plain spoken Okie psychologist who shoots from the hip and tells it like it is and never beats around the bush and lays it all out there and forces you to face the ugly truth, Dr. Phil also turns out to be a great weight loss expert. Although Dr.Phil is himself significantly overweight, as is obvious by the cover photo and by his daily tv appearances, he nonetheless has a great plan for others to lose weight. To summarize, you must want to lose the weight. It's all about wanting to lose that weight. Sure, smart eating and regular physical activity have their place, as all those other so-called weight-loss experts will tell you. But more important than low-calorie foods and excercise, as the brilliant doctor makes very clear - "you gotta wanna lose that thay-er weight. ....it aint comin' off, iffin you dont want it comin off." With the subtle Okie genius for which he has become world famous, he advises that "Mama aint gonna take them pounds off for ya. Them pounds aint goin' nowhere, lessen you set down with yorn own self and tell them pounds, hey pounds, hit that thay-er road. I is finished with you, and that goes for yorn kinfolk too."
So although he does suffer from obesity himself, I must say that the plain, down-home, midwest straight shootin', shoot from the hip technique here is just what the doctor ordered. I'm a gonna take them pounds off, cuz that's jest what I wanna do. Yeee-Haaaw. Thank you Oprah, for giving us Dr. Phil, this brilliant psychologist, dietary expert, beloved celebrity - this great Rennaisance man from Oklahoma.

Summary: This is not another fad diet!!
Review: This is not another fad diet!! The Ultimate Weight Solution is not a diet the way that word is used today in the media...it is a way of eating that has to do with being better to yourself by acknowledging the foods that you do not need. This is a true DIET (what you should eat all the time, instead of what you should eat just to lose that last ten pounds).
The book is not only a food plan, that is actually the smallest part of the book, it is getting to know who you are and readying yourself to change your life forever.
There are self-tests, real life stories, and seven keys that will amaze you with their simplicity and make you wonder why you hadn't started doing them years ago.
For a true diet you only need one book, this one.

Summary: Build your Team today.
Review: Sometimes you just need someone to tell you what you already know in your heart. Body image makes up such a large part about how I feel about myself. I needed someone to help me see myself and what I put in my body as positive not negative. Dr. Phil has a way of making you take a second look in the mirror and being happy at what you see.

I found his advice about creating a Support Team around you most helpful. I already have my cheerleader, my husband- even though he doesn't like me calling him that- and now I am calling friends and family to help fill it out. If you have not already read it your team (or circle of support)is made up of people who are close to you that are willing and will help you to attain your goal weight. There are two types of people according to Dr. Phil: Saboteurs and supporters- you want supporters. Dr. Phil tells us that weight loss is not something we should do alone, but it has always been for me. I have heard others tell me to get friends to diet with me and stuff like that but that was too embarassing- like i was calling others fat. When Dr. Phil explained the teams and how you can build one i felt much better about asking people to support me, instead of join me. I was amazed at the responses that i got. it was really fabulous to find out i had so much support. I suggest that everyone try to find the the coach (my sister), the teammate, the cheerleader, and the umpire in your life.

Dr. Phil is so right about saying that the people you surround yourself with have as much to do with what you eat as you do. I need people around me who support my healthy choices instead of sabotaging my efforts. I like to think that Dr. Phil is in my corner on my road to weight loss as much as the rest of my team.

Summary: A Miracle of a Book!
Review: Dr. Phil does not promise miracles or fast solutions, instead he shows you how to change yourself and the way you look at what you eat. Dr. Phil shows, or teaches might be a better word, you in each of his books Life Strategies, Relationship Rescue and my favorite Self Matters how to look at the world and your behavior in it in a whole new way. In the Ultimate Weight Solution" instead of telling yourself that I am denying myself of something to eat, Dr. Phil shows you what you are depriving yourself by eating. I needed that new prespective. Dr. Phil may not promise miracles, but I have a feeling this book will prove to be a miracle to many.

Summary: Dr. Phil is Back and Better than Ever!
Review: If you are anything like me than you watch Dr. Phil everyday. I was so excited to find out that he was coming out with a new book that I preordered it and it came yesterday. I started reading it right away and I could not help writing a review even if I haven't started implementing the book yet- but I am starting today!
The first really big thing that struck me about the book was that it was not just a straight "here is the diet plan and this is how to do it" book, it is about facing your demons and making sure that you are "ready" to take the next step. It is so refreshing to find someone that actually understands that while many "want" to lose weight we are not always "ready" to lose weight.
This is a book for all you Dr. Phil fans out there like me because the wisdom of Dr. Phil just keeps on coming. I cannot wait to see the new season! Watch it! Read it! You can't go wrong!

Summary: Tell it like it is Dr. Phil!
Review: With this book Dr. Phil could revolutionize the weight loss industry. No more fad diets that leave you hungry or eating unhealthy. Just straight to the point "KEYS" to help you lead a healthier, happier, & thinner life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is tired of the weight loss yo-yo game.

Summary: Common sense diet advice but great "head" advice.
Review: OK Folks, when my wife first started doing the Dr. Phil says, "Yadda, yadda, yadda" to me, I tuned out. And then, after while, she started to make sense. Or should that be Phill started to make sense. She brought this book home last night and I read almost all of it. Parts were old news - like eating more fiber and veggies. Parts were good old fashioned (i.e., brilliant advice, like getting rid of your old fat clothes and changing your environment. He makes sense and I plan to make it back into my old jeans. :)
