Summary: It's A Keeper for Lifetime Eating
Review: I started The South Beach Diet with Phase Two and I continue to lose weight steadily. This diet has balanced my cravings for foods high in sugar. I no longer obsess over food or when I can eat again. The South Beach Diet is not based on fads. It is not about eating a diet of fatty meat products, drinking glass after glass of water, eating expensive prepared foods, preparing time consuming recipes, counting calories or counting points. It is about eating familiar, unprocessed foods that are accessible in all grocery stores and all restaurants. Dr. Agatston has researched and developed a diet that is simple and logical. That's why it works.

Summary: i finally get it!!!
Review: i read this book and it finally put everthing under perspective. i understand the body chemistry and have started the diet. it works wonders. though i personally dont have a heart condition, it does run in my family and i an a young female so you never know what will happen in the future. i have both my parents on this diet. my mother has a heart condition and my father is over-weight. the diet itself is very hard the first week but it is worth the weight that you loose. no fruit,BAD carbs (like starch and beer)and no dairy in phase one. i even started to work out too. i think if you dont get diets, get this book, it will tell all. Good Luck!!!

Summary: Atkins Revisited
Review: This book is just a lower-fat version of Atkins. I learned nothing new. Basically a recipe book.

Summary: More guidance necessary
Review: I just started the diet and I hope that it works. It does seem healthier than Atkins (which I was unable to stay on for more than 10 days because of the lack of vegetables). The only issue that I have with the book is that more guidance could be used with respect to adding carbs to the diet after the first two weeks.

Review: This is a diet that really works, and that I can stay on. I feel good, not deprived, and for the first time, can see myself staying on it for life. The good news is, that you really can eat alot and even cheat sometimes. It's the best.

Summary: Finally, A Diet Book That Makes Sense
Review: The South Beach Diet is the best diet book I've ever read, and I've read many. Dr. Agatston's diet is easy to understand and can be followed by those of us without monumental willpower. The recipes are worthy of a cookbook and seem easy to make. This diet is not like the others; there are nuances that clearly reflect this cardiologist's emphasis on a healthy heart.

Summary: If you're discouraged, try this!!!
Review: I needed to lose 25 lbs, so for the first 3 months, I did the 1200-1300 calorie diet, which was low fat and included a variety of foods. It didn't matter what you ate, just how many calories it added up to. (Sound familiar?) I lost 10 lbs over the course of 3 months, but then my weight loss stalled. I work out (lift weights, and do cardio 4 times a week), and I went an entire month without losing a pound. I was about ready to give up on my goal, when I heard about this. In the first week alone I lost 7lbs, almost as much weight as I did over the three month period. Yes, you cut all of the unhealthy junk out of your life, but I got to add things I had been avoiding in my previous diet such as eggs, cheese, peanutbutter, nuts, and steak. I have felt great, and I have not been hungry. After the first two weeks, you get to reintroduce healthy carbs such as bread, fruit, etc, but you are limited those first two weeks. It's worth it, though, when the pounds melt away quickly. If you are at the end of your rope and other diets have failed, please check this out!!! As for the negative review that was listed about this diet, all I can say is, that person obviously didn't try the diet, or thier tune would have been different. I cant say enough. I will get to wear a bikini this summer thanks to the south beach diet.

Summary: A diet I can live with!
Review: At last, a diet that makes sense, is healthy, and is easy to follow.
Yes, the diet is low in carbs, but, after the first 2 weeks, you add in fruit and high-fiber carbs. You don't go crazy on fatty foods, so this seems much more medically sound than the Atkins diet. I'm finding it very easy to be on the South Beach Diet, and it is extremely satisfying.
There are also a number of excellent recipes in the book, but you don't have to cook to stay on the diet. It's not difficult to eat out on this diet at most types of restaurants.
All I can say is that I love the book, and think I can stay on a program like this for the rest of my life. At least I hope so.

Summary: Lose weight /Gain energy
Review: The South Beach Diet helped my centrally obese husband quickly lose pounds from his middle, dropping from 185 to 170 pounds overall in a few weeks. He lost the weight and gained energy, finding the diet easy to understand and follow and the food good. I highly recommend this diet.
