Rating: Summary: Information about a re-issue of this book Review: "The Essential Guide to Lesbian and Gay Weddings" is going to be re-issued by Alyson Publications in the fall of next year. The book has been difficult to find because of a change of guard at our previous publishing house. Aside from having a new cover, the next edition will contain updated information including an all-new resource guide. Thanks to everyone for their continued enthusiasm for the book.
Rating: Summary: It's Like "Gay Wedding By The Numbers" Review: All you need is this book, and a 3 ring binder and you areready to plan your gay wedding. This book helped me plan everything.Technical manuals should be written so well. If you are planning a gay wedding READ THIS BOOK FIRST, and I do mean first. It will save you time, trouble and keep you from committing a few faux pas.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! 5 Stars! Kudos! Review: Best book my lover and I have ever read. I am a gay assistant manager at a small town Wal-Mart. We plan on marrying soon. Thanks to this book, we can do it right!
Rating: Summary: Useful from day one Review: I bought this book on the same day that my boyfriend proposed to me, when we went into the city to get the right ring size. It was so exciting to have it in my hands right in the moment; sort of like an instant print-out of everything in my head. I have just started to read it, but I must say it helped us prepare for the "announcing our engagement' phase very well. Having already read through other couples' varying experiences, I wasn't surprised by the more...awkward moments. It's more useful than you might think it would be to have a wedding book specifically for the community; in all my excitement I had completely forgotten that we are gay! Very inspiring, well-structured to keep me sane in the upcoming months, and funny--very important.
Rating: Summary: Needs an update Review: I bought this for my sister when she told me she was going to have a commitment ceremony. I was honored when she asked me to be her Maid of Honor. The book isn't bad or anything but it could use some updating. My sister said only some of the information was helpful to her. There aren't many books on the market for this topic though. So if you can't find anythign else it's worth buying.

Rating: Summary: An excellent and entertaining resource Review: I really did not know what to expect when I bought this from Amazon, but I knew that my partner and I needed some help in planning our commitment ceremony and I didn't want to read the standard bridal magazines or wedding planners (they didn't exactly look like a great resource for two guys). This book was the perfect solution -- it covers all the issues and questions that a gay couple faces when planning a wedding from making the announcement to taking the honeymoon. Want to know what stores are gay-friendly with their registry services? Or where to go for a same-sex couple cake topper? Or suggestions for your vows? This book has it all. Beyond exceptional content, it is also well-written, well-designed, and is full of interesting and entertaining bits of trivia about gay marriage. The back of the book includes a thorough index of other off-line and on-line resources to help as well. A great resource.
Rating: Summary: I haven't laughed this hard in a while-Fun and Informative!! Review: I was a bit worried about planning a union between me and my transgendered partner. The most I had ever seen was 2 short haired "guys" in tuxedos. The biggest incite from the book was, if you want to go "drag" its your wedding and just go with it! I highly recommend this book to anyone who takes their relationship serious enough to take it to the next level. Oh before I forget, the book does have some help in steering in the right legal direction for you relationship too.
Rating: Summary: Its more than a planner; its about affirmation Review: Looking for a guide to planning your wedding? There are lots and lots of resources and frankly this book adds little in terms of the basic planning. Instead what this book offers is affirmation of same sex unions but understanding that the businesses that can help you plan your big day may not know how to work with you. Overall the message is simple: make your ceremony your own & any business worth doing business with, will respect your wishes regardless of gender or sex, or anything else. I think the check lists included here for various stages of planning are also well done so if you have trouble oganizing they can help you regardless of whom you are marrying.
