Summary: Honestly Funny
Review: I used to direct a program to educate teachers for Catholic schools. Two of my former students in the program, who are now married, sent this book as a gift, with a note: "Thanks for looking the other way while all this was going on." Well, whether I was looking the other way or not when I oversaw the program, I could not stop laughing as I read this little volume. It will be funnier for Catholic readers than non-Catholics, for background knowledge is essential to get many of the subtler points, although most of the humor is anything but subtle. At one point during my tenure as director of that Catholic teacher education program, some of the students reviewed a Catholic sex ed guide in a class I was teaching. After a fairly serious review, the barbs started to come, with many sounding like points made by Anderson and Murray, reflecting that there's a universalism in this book for Catholics, with it actually capturing well the humor many probably use as they deal with the tensions between church teaching on sex and the realities of their lives. I doubt very much that this book will inform many about sex, but it will help many appreciate the lighter side of young Catholics and sex. It is probably destined to become a sect classic for Catholic adolescents and young adults. I hope that Anderson and Murray will take on other serious topics and illuminate them as they have Catholic girls and sex. The world needs more laughter, and they are skilled at causing it.

Summary: Too True!
Review: I, like the authors, have been subjected to the guilt that comes with being raised Catholic. I attended Catholic schools from age 3 until I was 13. Thank you for such a good laugh and something I can proudly display on my coffee table!

Summary: Don't waste your time or money.
Review: Much better resources: "Real Love: Answers to Your Questions on Dating, Marriage and the Real Meaning of Sex" by Mary Beth Bonacci; "If You Really Loved Me: 101 Questions on Dating, Relationships and Sexual Purity" by Jason Evert; "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" by Joshua Harris; and "Theology of the Body" and "Love and Responsibility," both penned by JPII.

Enough with the Catholic-bashing already.

Summary: How Sad
Review: Nice to know that authors who pretend to be Catholic can help bring down their own Church. How very sad is their opinion of youth and feminity. This is the first book that I have read in a long time that I wish I hadn't. Too bad they took the trouble to write it in the first place.

Summary: Laughter Is Indeed the Best Therapy
Review: Simply put, this book is hilarious! Who knew Catholic girls were so screwed up....But seriously, it's a great tool for being open and honest about sex and sexuality.

Summary: Not for My Grandma, but a fun read
Review: This book is cute. I was raised Catholic by a very conservative grandma and mom, so I relate to a lot of the book. I enjoyed it..the only way i can describe it is it's a fun, light hearted read. Please do not take it seriously...it's not meant for that. I recommend it to any catholic girl who has liberal ideas despite her strict upbringing.

Summary: It's really too bad...
Review: This book will be most humorous for those raised with strong Catholic values and have since fallen away or at the very least pick and choose what they want to believe is moral. The reality, however, is that you will find the greatest sexual fulfillment within the sacrament of marriage, if you choose to follow church teachings. If you don't believe this then I'm sad to say that joke is truly on you. This is being said from the perspective of a 26 year old male.

Summary: These two should have their own television show!
Review: This is a funny, funny, funny book! I can't wait to see these two on Conan's show and with Ellen Degenerous. Melinda and Kathleen are stars. No surprise that they irritate some folks: After all, they're brilliant, beautiful, sexy, witty, accomplished and, oh yeah, Catholic. This copy goes to my book club; the next to my boyfriend.

Summary: Don't Waste Your Time
Review: With a book that gives such litle respect to sexuality, don't even waste your time.

I suggest "Dear Newlyweds" by Pope Pius XII, for the educated; but for the junior high or high school student, I suggest "The Catholic Girl's Guide" by Rev. F.X. Lasance or his "Young Man's Guide." The Young Man's Guide has personally benifited me greatly.

Summary: Nice to know I am not the only one...
Review: wow this book hit the nail on the head. I am going to pass it to my sister for her to read. I don't think my other Protestant friends would get it. Truly for all the Catholic girls out there.
