Rating: Summary: The best of it's kind Review: There are sooooo many books like this that combine 100's of quotes and 'guideposts' to enlighten and motivate us, but this is by far (and I've read a lot of them) the best book I've seen in this category!! Many of the thoughts in this book absolutely blew me away, it's a fantastic little book!!
Rating: Summary: Powerful Book! Review: This book I have on hand for a daily dose. Basically one could say it is a book of advice. The thoughts refesh your soul and even on the worst day a dose of this book will help you get through it. Very powerful. Very insightful. Highly recommended as I don't leave the house without mine!
Rating: Summary: The best by far Review: This collection of wisdom is the best of its kind by far. I have a personal library of books containing quotations and this book has become my favorite over the past year. I read from it every day and have given it to many folks who tell me they now do the same. I start every day with it and I'm a much happier man because of it.

Rating: Summary: Beautifully illustrated, and written Review: This collection of words includes not only great quotes from good men but a whole collection of pictures behind to draw you into your meditation. At the same time, I would encourage those who have participated in other religions to look into this book. It puzzles me why Catholics and Christians must keep attacking Buddhism and eastern religious. Indeed they fear even body positions not deemed "worthy of God." In this slim volume, Taro Gold has packed full information into a window into the soul. You won't be missing anything. At the same time, I have read most of the quotes you have been listening to for many years, and find them very puzzling and bizarre. They do not seem to mimic the exact translations of Buddhist wisdom or thought, but rather the English translations of them, beautiful, yet profound. Perhaps that's what I like about Buddhism, and eastern religion. Though some of his quotes may be misinterpreted, they are not without character, or mind. The Tao has been treated to one hell of a lot of interpretation here, totally changing the words Lao Tzu said in some cases. But otherwise, it seems to be a perfect translation of the mind of Lao Tzu, and that's good enough to keep you thinking.
Rating: Summary: A little masterpiece Review: This gem of a book is priced to give out like candy canes over the holidays! Profound thoughts from great Buddhist and Eastern sources beautifully reflect places in the human heart that you may not even have been aware of. This is a richly crafted book as well, with elegant illustrations throughout. Every detail is top notch. It's a little masterpiece of quality and wise grace.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant little gem Review: This is a brilliant little gem of a book. I have studied Buddhism for 25 years, mostly Tibetan Buddhism, and although this book is obviously not from the Dalai Lama it also captures much of the spirit he teaches - compassion, wisdom, courage. In fact, these virtues are universal and common themes of all humanistic philosphies. Another aspect I like about this book is that it speaks to anyone of any belief system, Eastern, Western, Buddhist, non-Buddhist, everyone. I believe nearly everything in this book even the most devout Christian would enjoy reading and probably agree with, too. Wisdom is wisdom - truth is truth - both wisdom and truth are universal, after all. There are approximately 350 entries in this book, which is the larger volume, all of which I found profoundly inspiring or thought-provoking. Many are subtle yet deep. All are easy to incorporate into one's daily life. About 70% of the entries are from Taro Gold and 30% from great Eastern philosophers such as Shakyamuni Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Confucius, Lao Tzu and others. There are also some wonderful and rare Chinese and Japanese proverbs.
Rating: Summary: Love this book! Review: This is a great book!
Rating: Summary: Priceless Wisdom, and a Great Gift Review: This little treasury of wisdom is inexpensive, yet it's packed with hundreds of priceless thoughts you can use every day to enhance your life. Each quote in this collection is a gem, at once practical and thought-provoking. I find the mini edition perfect for portable daily inspiration, and the expanded volume has become my most popular gift among friends and family. This is a powerful book, beautifully presented, and the wisdom contained within speaks to any religion, any age, any situation. I recommend "Open Your Mind, Open Your Life" highly, any time you want to lift your spirits and refresh your soul.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This richly illustrated book is filled with great insights. I've been interested in various Eastern philosophies like Buddhism, Taoism, Confucius and so on for many years now and I especially enjoy collections of wisdom and rare quotations. This is the best I've ever found.
