Rating: Summary: JAY LENO'S RECENT TONIGHT SHOW BIT ABOUT "THE GUIDE" Review: I SAW JAY LENO READING EXCERPTS FROM "THE GUIDE TO PICKING UP GIRLS" ON THE TONIGHT SHOW AND DECIDED TO BUY "THE GUIDE" VIA AMAZON.COM. ON THE TONIGHT SHOW, LENO SEEMED TO SUGGEST THAT THE BOOK ENDORSED THE USE OF STUPID PICK-UP LINES, BUT AFTER I READ "THE GUIDE" I THINK JAY MISSED THE POINT ENTIRELY...THIS BOOK IS HILARIOUS!!!...IT COMBINES SATIRE WITH SELF-HELP...I WAS LAUGHING OUT LOUD WHILE READING IT. NOT ONLY IS THIS THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ OF THIS GENRE, IT IS THE ONLY ONE THAT I'VE EVER READ THAT COMBINES INTELLIGENCE WITH COMEDY SO ADEPTLY. I CAN SEE WHY PEOPLE IN THE MEDIA ARE CALLING "THE GUIDE" A FUNNIER, SMARTER VERSION OF "THE RULES" FROM A MALE PERSPECTIVE...HOWEVER, UNLIKE "THE RULES"..."THE GUIDE" IS NOT ABOUT BITTERNESS OR DECEPTION. "THE GUIDE" SEEMS TO BE ALL ABOUT SOCIAL OBSERVATION AND LEARNING HOW TO PREDICT WHAT WOMEN ARE THINKING AND HOW THEY WILL ACT..IT'S REALLY KIND OF COOL!...IT'S MADE MEETING GIRLS A TOTALLY FUN GAME...IT'S REALLY CHANGED HOW I LOOK AT THE WHOLE DATING PROCESS. FISCHBARG HAS TURNED IT ALL INTO AN ENJOYABLE SCIENCE. IN FACT, IF YOU READ THE BOOK, AND I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY ENDORSE THIS BOOK FOR ANYONE MALE OR FEMALE, "THE GUIDE" ISN'T ABOUT USING CORNY PICK-UP LINES AT ALL...IT'S MORE LIKE THE WAY SHERLOCK HOLMES WOULD USE HIS OBSERVATION SKILLS TO SOLVE A CRIME, EXCEPT, WITH "THE GUIDE" IT'S ABOUT LEARNING HOW TO FIGURE OUT WOMEN...I'M GLAD JAY LENO TALKED ABOUT "THE GUIDE" ON THE TONIGHT SHOW...THIS BOOK IS SUPER-COOL!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: GENIUS BOOK Review: I took a seminar given by the author, Gabe Fischbarg, at the Learning Annex in Manhattan. His methods are unbelievably effective. What was once nerve racking and difficult is now fun and enjoyable. Two thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: Thin Book, More for Bar Pick-ups Review: I was disappointed in this book because I was looking for something more comprehensive; it's pretty thin. I found Copeland & Louis' "How to Succeed with Women" better, detailed, and more helpful. I guess it's truth in titling because "Guide" focuses more on pick-up lines and less on ways to develop a meaningful relationship. Part of this tepid review might be because I'm not into the bar scene. So if you're into picking up chicks at bars, this might be for you. Thankfully, I'm in a relationship and no longer looking. Good luck fellas.
Rating: Summary: Why you shouldn't buy this book. Review: I'm wasn't even halfway through the book before I wanted to put it down. Of all the books, magazines, and news articles I've read on the subject of men, women, attraction, relationships, etc., this one's not only boring but it's also terribly inaccurate and doesn't offer the reader any tangible goals through its advice. I just wish I would have put my [money] towards something else--anything else. I'm generally not a negative person but I would be lying if I said this book was worth a dollar to anyone but a middle school or junior high student. Most important to me wasn't the money I spent but the time I wasted reading it... let's see how they do over time--yeah, not so good now, huh? As far as Debbie's "opinion from a woman" bullsh**, just because her and a friend used this book as a conversation-starter with a couple of male co-workers (who were reading the book at the time) doesn't make her claims of this being a "great book" credible. Even if someone wanted to "get laid" or "get a date" quick, (which isn't always fun--where's the sport in it?), this book is not for you either. Get a book that works with methods that stand the test of time. It's like sex: there's no magic ingredient--it's an art form, a lifestyle. One of the best books I've ever read on the topic of relationships and seduction is: "the Art of Seduction" by Robert Greene. I'm currently reading "U.S.S.: Undercover Sex Signals" by Leil Lowndes and it an excellent "guide."
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK ON THIS SUBJECT Review: I've read a bunch of these type of books and this is the best one on the subject. A great find. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: It's fantastic! It's great! It's stupendous! .. for me to POOP ON! Seriously, it's crap, don't waste your money.
Rating: Summary: could be better Review: Just finished reading it and was not that impressed. Some techniques seem feasible, but others are just plain simple. Nothing new here. It is good for guys who have never had any contact with women, but not for me, an average frat boy with intergender skills, wanting to get lots more. I much rather recommend Milf-Seduction.com or Advanced Macking... which had more nitty-gritty useable stuff...
Rating: Summary: The Guide to Pick ME Up Review: Listen, everyone should read this book. It is common sense for the stupid dater(especially the people who think they are smart). Girls should read it just as much as guys, btw, becasu ewe tend to be WAY to serious about dating. It's funny at times and dead-on the rest of the time. I got it as a gag for a guy friend of mine. He told me it was a must-read... and he was right! Read it becasue even if you think you know all there is to know about dating, this book will remind you of the small things you have forgotten and give you a few chuckles along the way.
Rating: Summary: A girl's perspective on "The Guide" Review: OK...I'll admit, at first I was extremely skeptical about "The Guide to Picking Up Girls"...I was at the coffee machine at my office and two of my handsome yet sometimes annoying male co-workers were talking about this really funny new book about women called, "The Guide"...like a male "rules" or something...they said it was unbelievably funny and dead-on accurate, and that it had been featured on Howard Stern and The Tonight Show and written about in The New York Post, and whatever!...so, I was naturally curious...I'm single and I have a lot of cute single girlfriends who are always looking to meet a nice guy. Anyway, I was flipping channels last Friday and I run across some stupid, boring Business News show on Fox..Neil Cavuto, I think... and there's the guy!!...Gabe Fischbarg, the author of "The Guide to picking up Girls"...he was pretty handsome...but not like a male model or anything...he seemed nice, and funny and intelligent...he kind of looked like that actor Thomas Everett Scott from "The Boiler Room"...Anyway, my girlfriend Mindy would have fallen in love with this guy, so I figured I've gotta buy this book on-line as a gag gift for Mindy (she sometimes likes to pick up guys and girls!)...anyway...I ordered it, it came like the next day (so easy to order books on-line, I love it!)...I was planning on giving it to her later that night when we were out having drinks...but I started reading it... and I couldn't put it down...for like an hour and a half I was laughing out loud...this guy really knows how women operate...I couldn't belive it!...anyway, long story short, I brought the book out, gave it to Mindy...she starts trying out lines from the book on these two really cute guys at the next table and before you know it...we've both got dates with them next week...the book was the perfect icebreaker...This book is the perfect holiday gift for anyone who is single or wants a really good laugh...I'm ordering more copies for my other girlfriends...
Rating: Summary: Very inaccurate Review: One of the most inaccurate books on the subject that I've ever encountered. Your chances of successfully meeting a girl using techniques from this book are slim to none. Keep looking, this isn't the book you want.
