Rating: Summary: Just when you thought you knew it all Review: After you have been picking up girls for a number of years, and been even remotely successful at it, you think that no book (basically no other guy) could tell you anything you don't already know. I saw the author on CNN and got the book just to prove to myself that I didn't need it. However, this book is full of all those really simple things that girls respond to that we all forget over time. There were even things that I never thought of and some great tips. It is not politically correct (and good for a real laugh in places), but I would suggest that girls read it too if they want to get a handle on what we are thinking. Quick read. Definitely worth it.
Rating: Summary: Picking up book recommendation Review: Amazon recommended this book to me, along with a "Quilted Multi-Use Pad", which is apparently "a wonderfully helpful item to have in your baby's nursery or diaper bag". I'm quite sure this is referring to the "Multi-Use Pad" rather than to the book "The Guide To Picking Up Girls", but I guess it could apply to both. On the basis of the first recommendation, I can only commend Amazon on their astute summation of my character, and of my requirements vis-a-vis reading material. (Amazon can't be commended so much for the second recommendation, since I don't have babies, but the book is surely a first step!) The book apparently tells you how to pick up girls in places like bars, with an emphasis on the importance of having good pick-up lines and getting your mates in on the action. I don't think there are quite enough books like this on the market yet, and it's great to see yet another one. Keep the recommendations coming, Amazon!

Rating: Summary: Best Book On How To Approach Women Review: Best book I've read on how to pick up girls. It's not just for meeting someone at a bar. The book has a chapter on every scenario possible including private parties, charity events, museums, bus stop, department store, weddings, park, coffee shop, supermarket, etc.The book has definitely built my confidence and tells me what to say and not to say. Other books are too old and don't seem to understand today's modern girl. Don't believe one sentence negative reviews that refer to other books - those people didn't read this book. For the amount of info you get in this book, it is definitely worth the value. Warning - Don't let anyone borrow the book because you'll never get it back.
Rating: Summary: A "GUIDE" FOR GIRLS TOO!!! Review: Curiosity made me purchase "The Guide To Picking Up Girls"...I had seen the author on Naked New York and I had heard part of his interview with Howard Stern. This Fischbarg character is one confident chap. His book, I am surprised to admit is not only a delightful hoot, it's chock full of interesting insights into the way women operate. It's clear the author did his due diligence in researching his chosen topic. I found myself laughing out loud during some chapters and nodding along at others. If you want some useful, intelligent, and amusing perspective on the different ways men and women interact socially, this book is invaluable. The commercials on the book's website www.pickingupgirls.com are not to be missed either.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good Review: Don't know if this stuff will work, but I sure got a big kick out of reading it. It's fun, it's easy, and it's not a big investment. Check it out. Other pretty funny books - NO ONE'S EVEN BLEEDING and DELANO
Rating: Summary: This book is mistitled... Review: First, I should probably say I'm not the sort of Neanderthal who hits on girls to dance or for a date. (Hitting girls is wrong, right?) I've recently read several examples from this genre as part of a study. The thing they all have in common is that they first have to seduce you, the reader, into buying them. They do this by promising the fulfillment of a fantasy. This book does that by its title and a picture of a PYT in a low-cut dress on the cover. But when you read the intro you learn the book's definition of "success" is merely talking with a girl long enough to get her phone number! This is not exactly what most people would think is meant by "picking up girls". After that, you have to call and get a date, but the book is very clear that it won't help you with what to do on a date. So the book is really just about meeting and talking to girls -- laying your rap on them, to use the author's jargon. With that said, the book is pretty typical in describing the work (s**twork some would say) a guy has to do to earn his way to equality with a girl. You have to present an air of confidence and strength, overcome your fear of rejection, read body language, etc. All pretty much common knowledge and beginner's stuff. But I can say the author's no-nonsense approach and sometime novel perspective on the meeting/mating game kept me interested enough to read the entire 130 (overpriced) pages. And I do have to say most of the advice was pretty good for what it was. (There's a sense in which all generalizations are lies...) There are no complicated secret or magic theories here and I think a woman could read it without getting upset. Maybe the best sections were on techniques for using a "wingman" (buddy) in various situations, as well as the general one of keeping things in focus and on track toward the grand goal: finding an unattached girl with her "switch" (that would be her dating switch) ON and getting her phone number. It probably helps that the author is a TV producer who lives in the city (NYC) which has the most favorable (for guys) girl-to-boy ratio. Others in less favorable circumstances may not be able to pull off the sort of facile attitude presented here. I'll give it 2 1/2 stars and generously round up for that in spite of all the book doesn't have. If you're needing some basic know-how rather than know-what or know-whether the book is a quick read and might be worth a look.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I finished reading through The Guide to Picking up Girls last week and found it pretty interesting and helpful. The author is a lawyer, but the book is written in everyday language any guy can relate to. The author spends a lot of time talking about overcoming the fear of rejection. It seems that is half the battle in one's quest to successfully begin picking up girls. The author also talks about places to meet women, besides bars and clubs, and includes some pick up lines to practice and throw in yourself when out hunting. I think this is a great book for any single guy.
Rating: Summary: the personals and online dating Review: I found the confidence discussion, body language, and writing about yourself and what you want useful..but one shouldn't be agaist personals and online dating as long as you meet soon and safely (in public). This book covered everything you can think about when it comes to dating.
I also recommended: Sex and the perfect lover by Mabel Iam
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: I got a review copy of this book & I must say it's very good. The points Gabe makes about having a wingman are absolutely true. Nonetheless, it doesn't top the old standbys: Fate & Reil's How to have sex with hot girls (without even dating them), & Louis & Copeland's How to succeed with women.
